I gave my son a Budgie T-shirt for his birthday a few months back, I got a phone call from his high school science teacher wanting to where I got it so he could get one for himself.
Just heard this as a 55 year old metal head who clearly needs to do more research, for the first time. I’m about to play it louder n louder each time for the rest of the night!
Budgies finest hour .....Power Supply was a masterpiece in the bands history . I remember ordering this album at our local " Record Store " . I couldn't wait for its release .....did it deliver.....oh yeah 🤘👍 If you have stumbled on this upload by mistake ....do yourself a favour and get yourself some " Budgie ".....you will not be disappointed 👍
I used to be into Budgie, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Hawkwind and later Motörhead, UK Subs, Led Zeppelin, Rose Tattoo, Uriah Heep, UFO, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Rainbow and Dio. From the age of 16 to thirty I was an unapologetic speed freak. I was in the snake pit baby, there was a lot of it about. I was in a band called Virgin Blood. We did mostly covers and we wrote a few songs. The ones We wrote that I like best were liar, brass knuckles and fast as fuck. We weren’t terribly eloquent. Our lead guitarist went on to work with the singer from Marillion, the drummer from U.K. Subs (who apparently was a cunt), and has made a good living working as a session musician. He is truly an amazing guitarist now. He was great back in our day, but now he’s like a guitar genius. I’ve met U.K. Subs. As time went on I got into early Iron Maiden, with Paul Dianno and Clive Burr on drums, Saxon, Angelwitch, Blitzkrieg, Diamond head. I saw them live and they opened with Shoot out the lights, they were fucking awesome. I was a huge Motörhead fan. Got Lemmy’s autograph, saw them live at least a dozen times. When I was thirty I gave up speed. My teeth were fucked. Once I’d made some money I had a bunch replaced with implants and the rest I had veneers put on. I had gold teeth put in on my upper jaw just before my canine teeth and the same on my lower jaw. So I have four gold teeth. I don’t care if cunts think I’m a poser. I’m living proof that you can come back from a lifetime of heavy amphetamine abuse and still afford to buy a great smile. Before that as Lemmy put it my “perfect smile betrayed my lack of style”. We used to play this so loud through our PA system and amplifiers and bass bins. It’s such a ballsy song. I’ve always loved it.
I'm writing this 11 years after after your post and I can't agree with you more its criminal that budgie wasn't huge I mean Black Sabbath huge they were that GOOD...R.I.P. BURKE....
I saw Budgie three times in the seventies and they rocked - why are three piece bands so good? They are one of the great unrecognized bands of UK along with Stray and Steve Gibbons Band.
I saw budgie in 2000s and they totally smashed it, little did i know that my uncle seen them in the 70s and he said that people were dancing on the table and rocking out
Comical when I talk to 'classic rockers' who never heard of Budgie (guess they were to busy listening to queen). They were much loved in the 70s by the true rockers and they were much loved by us out here in Fresno. Thanks for posting this great song by this great band and have a great day
Hear me call, panzer division destroyed Power gun pounding and well deployed Everyman seems to burn, die in hell Twisted steel, twisted mess sealed the deal Hear me call, panzer division destroyed Absolute; no sign of life at all Crushing men, living men have all gone Hear me call, panzer division destroyed Cold and burned the smoke and blood inside Pure light splits the night with a flame Blinding rage get in touch with our plane Hear me call, panzer division destroyed Pretty sight, pounding fire, finding home Well I?m in sight cutting through hostile zone Only sound on the ground is a moan
top song, the live version from "Reading Rock 82 vol 1" is absolutely fucking amazing and is still one of my most played songs, along with Superstar from the same album.
@@eazye519 how are we comparing the two bands? Based strictly on musicianship: Budgie never had a Neal Peart, but Shelley and Bourge are every bit the musicians as Lee and Lifeson.
Great Dave and Burke are born again christians. just thought I would share that fact. Just like the one you shared. WE all learn something new every day. Have a good one.
I think the same about Megadeth too, I hear a lot of Budgie influence in Daves melodic structures, especially in the 90's albums, but then again I listen to a lot of Budgies early albums and hear a lot of stuff the clearly influenced Maidens Gallop, early Priest & Diamond heads am I evil lol
I still can't get over the fact I never even heard of the band until a couple of weeks ago. I've been listening to them ever since and it's still got me at a total loss!!!
I consider them one of the parents of NWOBHM. What a great band, and they were very loud as I remember! Love the track parents, just takes me right back to the late seventies! Oz
Really dug their bourge timeperiod. But now am more receptive to their post bourge stuff. Like this one. GOd/Jesus bless and save all that read this. AMen!!
I recommend any new fans get the first album (and to a lesser extent the second) as it is just solid headbashing rock, recorded basically live with a few overdubs.Really good stuff on there with The Author & Homicidal Suicidal being my faves. The second album it a pretty good representation of their original sound too...don't get me wrong, most of their other albums are fantastic if not better than the first two, but there is just something so RAW about the 1st 2 that keeps me coming back.
THEse 3Boys((great musicians(innovatorsinspirators)))straitghtway to Hard,n'Heavy Hall of fame :::sooo many various bands just in this one supersong...from the start(Kill em' all)Metallica,Rainbow,- Zakk Wylde -,Metal Church,Whitesnake,PearlJam.........Tiiime to Reemember
I used to listen this band with my band mates in Colombia, the only thing we knew about them it was that they were from england and metallica had made a cover of "breadfan", that was before the internet a friend found the vynil at his aunt's and later we found more of their music, since then its one of my favorites brings back good memories from "the metal house" the best of the underrated bands.
vastly underrated band with a ripper of a guitarist .What happened to John Thomas ? I knew he wasn't very well and I hope he made a full recovery . Great band ....a great fucking band
Is this Burke Shelley singing ? Wow, he sounds different... of course a lot water passed under the bridge of Budgie and the band and the members themselves changed. I like this approach.
Das ist so eine geile Rockmusik, das ist schon nicht mehr feierlich. Dank an unseren Gott im Himmel, der es ueberhaupt erst moeglich machte indem er uns schuf.
i remember standing by the stage hearing this for the first time, way back in the 80"s on this the power supply tour, cant remember who they were backing, def leppard or ozzy? but i was hooked from that day.
Don't you think there is a strong similarity with immigrant song by led zeppelin? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y8OtzJtp-EM.html I just discovered budgie (i'm already a breadfan 😁) and that's what immediately came to mind on first listen. As google tells me : immigrant song is November 1970 - Panzer Division Destroyed is 1980
