Stopping bullets s one thing, but whoever came up with the idea of turning 1 grenade into 3 doves, as a display of badassery...... genius and hilarious!
Maybe a person that watched Sleeping Beauty (from 59 not the shit with Angelina Jolie) the fairies turn stones into bubbles, arrows into flowers and boiling oil into a rainbow to protect the prince.
Turning the gunshots into doves is symbolic of turning war into peace. It was the clip they used in the commercial for this episode, and I absolutely had to watch it.. Still one of my favorite scenes to this day.
Not sure about that, as it wasn't just Buffy vs Adam. Buffy, on her own wouldn't have been able to defeat Adam. Can't even use the Terminator aspect either. Adam was an abomination of man, demon and machine.
Not another Buffy, but there have already been other slayers. I think you'll find it resurfaces eventually after time, as long as it has good writers it can go on as long as dr who.
I hope if they do reboot it, it's not a continuation of the show... I LOVE the comic book continuations and are just as good as the show was. imo.. but if they do want to place it in the same universe, I would be happy with anything.
@@TastyGamingQc eh, a láser is light, if you can transform light into water why not transform all the light that moves through the air into water and drown everyone or something
carso1500 bc I wasn’t going for a kill. If I wanted to kill I would have change the blood inside their veins into ice or stone. This way I wouldn’t even get wet.
Sounds cool but clearly breaks conservation of mass as there is no frickin way he fit a whole minigun up there and still had any flesh left to play with.
No she couldn't. You forgot that Giles said that Glory wasn't at her full power because she's been trapped inside of Ben for a very long time. Glory only had immense super strength and super speed and durability. Super Buffy was immensely strong, fast, and had magical capabilities...no contest.
And they channeled the power from the first slayer. That was saying an ancient language Adam couldn't understand. Adam could understand any other demon or language
@@areyoulookingbitch7065 Exactly! There Was Most Definitely Some Of Sineya's Pre-Historical Savagery In God Mode Buffy,You Could Tell By The Way How God Mode Buffy Brutally Fought Adam Like A Wild Animal And Ripped Out His Heart With Her Bare Hands. I always loved the concept of the Primeval spell since it completely encapsulates what the series is all about: Buffy’s metaphorical sides (Heart, Mind and Spirit) aka her friends and Watcher making her the strongest and most special slayer in history. 🙂
The 4 combined are: - The strength and fighting ability of Buffy - Giles intelligence and knowledge of monsters - Williws Magic - Zanders Heart, humanity and morals. Zanders contribution is actually very important because the power they had combined could easily corrupt them, they way it did Dark Willow. Zander kept them grounded.
The way he says "Very...interesting" expresses intrigue and a little fear. Not only is this my second favorite story arc in the show (after Dark Willow), the guy who played Adam was top notch.
Because he knew he was about to finally get his ass kicked .. I really wished she kept those powers for the rest of the show ..I would have like to see that version of Buffy against the ubervamp ...
Something I love about this scene is that that spell she casts to become bullet proof was eventually explained as being Sumerian. Because now I have an excuse to imagine Sumerian sorcerers fighting off time travelers with machine guns. And or aliens.
While an entertaining thought, I imagine the spell was intended to stop more period-appropriate projectiles like arrows, but it works against bullets just as well.
@@Dragonlover553 Clearly a spell created by an ancient tribe would have been designed to stop logical weapons from the time, unless there is hard evidence to the contrary that it was used otherwise back when it was created. I am also sick and do not wish to argue a point I feel speaks for itself further. If you disagree, so be it.
I apologise for my response to you before. I disagreed, but I shouldn't have let my sick state affect my tone that much and I was far too harsh. I think to clarify, I'm the type who assumes that something isn't possible, or if it's referencing history, it's a reflection of the time, then only elements known to be true from that era should be assumed unless the piece of media explicitly suggests otherwise. So I wouldn't assume that the spell was designed to stop bullets like the Sumarians dealt with that issue somehow, but that the bonded Scoobies were able to utilise the spell for that purpose, and possibly modified it to work for bullets. Again, apologies for my tone before.
@@EuroMIX2 That which is infinite needs no time appropriate "spells" and to be clear. If you know what I mean then you understand. If you don't then you need to do more research.
Out of every episode in all the series this is my favorite 3 mins. The part where she stands up with her eyes changed reciting Sumerian gives me goosebumps , then she just totally outclasses Adam ( turning his grenade into peace doves ) , finishing with " you can never hope to grasp the source of our power , but your's is right here " then proves it by showing him it .
I remember when this was brand new. I watched it over and over. I had ALL the Buffy's recorded from the WB and had to ditch the VHS tapes when I moved from one state to the next. Stop-freeze photography film making was new when this episode aired. It was very "Matrix".
Angel was better at times. imo. I made my boyfriend watch Buffy & Angel in chronological order, so he didn't miss out on the crossovers. He preferred Angel most of the time.
It's also theorized that it was a direct nod to the Matrix (well, theorized by me that is, and a couple of people on the 'Bronze Beta' forum agreed) because the secret room Adam was created in was number 314.
I really loved this, as it was the first time Adam looked worried. The themes of division, unification and composition with Adam/Buffy and the juxtaposition of logic vs magic were strong themes this season, culminating in this particular scene. Very poetic storytelling this season.
Adam was the best boss character on this show. Until the moment when Buffy killed him, he never lost his temper. All the others, from The Master to Caleb gave in to their anger, which gave Buffy an opening to defeat them.
I just want to correct the description that the movie Matrix came out March 31, 1999 and this episode was aired May 16, 2000, so no buffy didn't matrix before the matrix :p
Low key i think it did the blocking of bullet wall before it happened in revolutions for the first time. In the first movie, you saw the bullets slow down from neo's perspective but didn't see the forcefield wall effect to them
Buffy, like Jesus, Socrates, Joan of Arc, and Abraham Lincoln, discovered that some of her worst enemies were people who were ostensibly on her side -- Faith, the Watchers' Council, Riley's military associates (who created Adam), and even Xander and Willow (the former when he lied to her to get her to kill Angel, the latter when she was crazed with grief over Tara's maddeningly senseless death). George Bernard Shaw, in his towering masterpiece "Saint Joan", tells us the hard truth about our benighted race: NOBODY wants a saint around, except for what they can get out of them.
xander did not lie to her kill angel he lied becouse the chance the spell would work was small buffy let anglus kiil for mouths, stop acting like she perfect
Saints are just faces at the end of the day. Its the people that put the Faces together, that give meaning to the Faces. They are the unsung heroes that do what no one else are willing to do; who wants a book on how councils have united nations together, when it is so much more comforting to here about 1 perfect Saint that has all the words we want to hear.
I absolutely love Buffy and she's my favorite Slayer, but this is Sineya the First Vampire Slayer's power! She killed an Old One w/Scythe which is what Illyria is in full powered form. Sineya really is a true representation of a Slayer that can be put with the ranks of The First, Caleb, Hamilton, The Beast, Jasmine, Glory, and Illyria. She's proved to be badass enough!
Gabriel Maregatti Allende They still were names enormously powerful to the series and that's what I meant by the list, they had times they could have killed Buffy while they weren't bloodlusted or her being aided by friends. Times like Caleb at the school after he knocked her out, Angel saving her from death by her own Scythe, or Glory at Buffy's house and at Sunnydale Zoo. Giles killed Ben/Glory, Buffy had a chance to but didn't and so did both Caleb and Glory if you think about it.
+Gabriel Maregatti Allende Buffy only killed Caleb because she had the scythe, plus Angel came to the aid. Secondly, Glory was bar none the hardest villain in either show to defeat, Buffy didn't even defeat her by herself, she had help. It took a spell from Willow, the Dagonsphere, Tara's sense of direction, The Buffybot, multiple hits with a weapon with the essence of a god and a wrecking ball to put Glory down. Besides, Glory, if she weren't batshit crazy, should've and undeniably had the power to slaughter the Scoobies in one episode.
+Gabriel Maregatti Allende Do remember that whilst Glory was a God, she had to be contained within a human body, so she was not able to express the full extent of her mystical powers. If she were fighting Buffy in her (Glory) most divine and godly form, she would have completely murdered Buffy within seconds, she was a God after all, it's just that her full power could not be contained within a human; it would have been illogical.
Dudeeee I remember being so hyped and jumping with this scene. The slayer alone is powerful but it pays off to have a powerful witch on your team lol aaand THAT was just the beginning of Willow.
"You could never hope to grasp the source of our power." Yeah, because you combine all the best aspects of multiple beings into one creature! No way Adam could ever understand that! Wait.
the point of the fight and the whole season is science vs magic. Adam was made thanks To science and buffy used Magic and there's no way he can understand that or beat that.
Buffy won because they combined all their strengths together with the 1st slayer as the base so its not just them but the strength of every slayer up to Buffy in one vessel as well but the next epp. they paid the price for invoking the 1st slayer as she gave them bad nightmares
Yeah indeed ! The fact that she combined her strength with the Scooby Gang and the Powers of The First Slayer DEFINATELY took Adam Down !!!!! ;) Yeah absolutely, The First Slayer came into their dreams to kill them !!! They defied the Source of the Power of the Slayer !!!
there was something else there. The slayers had the strength but Willow couldn't had caused spells that powerful early in the series and even when she went Dark Willow she needed assistance and tara's death to be the drive for revenge meaning the 1st slayer had access to spells from an Original source hence the dead launage spoken, a barrior to repel bullets, transmogcation for the missle  and a crush/heat spell the heat of lava to crush adam's core.
No it's mixed with the first slayers voice whedan confirmed it it's her power mixed with buffys the first ever slayer was the most powerful slayer because of her direct contact with the shadow demon who created the slayer
The difference is, Glory is much more powerful than Adam. As Buffy pointed out you can't beat her by simply "pulling out a uranium core". Glory would still beat Super Buffy after a good fight. And in the next episode the spirit of the first slayer warned them not to do it again.
@@Jvr_bz bc it corrupts the essence of the slayers power. Shes supposed to be alone. And if they did it again shed prob jus come back to haunt them...again
Damn this was such a good season. With the initiative, the first slayer, scoobies coming into adulthood, foreshadowing of Glory and Dawn, I miss this show
Funny in the next season the demon that gave Buffy her powers were angry because she tapped into god power and so they trapped her and her friends inside a dream.
I always thought it was Giles knowledge of magic added to Willow's magic power that was the effect. Giles was always more knowledgeable than Willow in regards to magic, but Willow had magic 'power' that Giles lacked. So it opened up all the spells Willow that she didn't know. I also figured all the perfect fighting Buffy does at the end, was from Giles knowledge of fighting techniques that he teaches Buffy in training. I never quite understood why they needed Xander. Though I guess without 'heart' she could have been evil (like Dark Willow) and just would have gone on a rampage. Certainly not allowing Riley to touch her chin like that at the end. Just my theory.
Good observation. I agree. Xander was an anchor. Ppl always say that this is Sineya and not Buffy, Sineya was only needed for access and permission to bond with the primal power of The Slayer. So this "god mode" version is only god mode because she is now The Slayer with the power of a witch and warlock. Notice she was still fairing well against Adam in the beginning of the fight.
I loved the look on Adam's face when the world suddenly stopped making sense to him. First his bullets were stopped in mid-air for no reason he could understand. Then, to make it quite clear that he had no idea what was going on, his missile turned into three doves. Why couldn't she use the same approach to shut him down more quickly and less violently than she actually did? We can't know - it has something to do with limitations on her powers that we know nothing about. That's the point - he didn't know what those limitations were, either. Had he known, he might still have been able to defeat her. But because he lacked that understanding, he was doomed to defeat. I think it's likely that the trick with the doves was deliberately done for the purpose of demoralizing and distracting him - which implies that there's something he might have been able to do against her had he not been demoralized and distracted.
The problem with Adam is that he was hardly developed, he appeared too late (mid season 4, I believe) and he didn't killed him in the season finale. But yeah, he was great, but he wans´t much around like Glory, Spike and Drusilla or even the Trio.
The slayer scythe appears in Rumple's castle, really? Which episode? I remember something which looked like Thor's hammer appears there, but not the scythe .
I liked Addam you can tell they got the idea from Frankenstein but Adam was pure Evil tho the concept of him made by other demon parts was amazing even the build up at the start of Season 4 he was in that room the whole time..This show had good writing and concepts Maggie Walsh was the real villain of the Season aswell from creating him I loved how Adam explained what she planned from the start in the Season Finale it was her master plan except she thought she'd be alive tho....This was my Favorite Season of Buffy.
Yea ...glory was a god all the time. ..Buffy had to do a spell to kill Adam...glory wouldn't have given her the time to prepare ..and she could do it without the unnecessary machine gun
@Perspective Outlets In Spiral right after Glory finds out Dawn is the key. Buffy: “We can’t fight her.” Giles “Well not yet”. Buffy “No not ever. She’s too strong Giles. We are not gonna this with stakes or spells or pulling out some uranium core. She’s a god and she is coming for us.” The enjoining spell was a spell, and based on that quote she implies it wouldn’t work. Based on feats without the hammer I doubt it would anyway.
That was the only bad thing about Buffy was the ''Oh look the stunt double is a dude!" at times even though Sarah's double was usually a girl always made me laugh.
One of my favorite scenes in alll of Buffy! From the part where the enjoining spell began up to when it kicked in was just epic, it was a great climax after all that build up. However I do wish that the fight lasted longer. For how badass the idea was, the super primeval Buffy deserved at least a couple more minutes of screen time lol. 🤣
I remember this is when I stopped watching for a bit because ADAM was such a random villan but when I saw her turn into a superbeing I was impressed with this and for Riley the eye candy of course lol
I hear Sineya's voice! which we only get to hear 2 seasons later when Buffy needs advice for facing the First wow that's some planning and foreshadowing
You know, it just occured to me that if this is the power of the First Slayer, can you even imagine how powerful the demons of her time must have been? Buffy couldn't even put a dent in Adam, but the First Slayer ragdolled him around like he was nothing. She must have fought uberdemons all the time that would make modern slayers piss their pants.
what i love about this sence, remember the fight buffy had with her freind SHE wanted to fight him alone. it show once again she can not win without her friends i wish she learn that and work with them more.
Weird--I don't recall Adam's voice being this clear. Granted, I don't think I've seen this episode since it first aired, but it was always so distinctive I thought I remembered it better.
When people wanna question buffy speed remember she easily dodged multiple bullets from a Gatlin being used by a super computer cyborg reacted to a missile .
