Ok, I’m 64 years old, about the same age James Marsters is. I think he is one of the most versatile actors there are : he fits every role he plays , his multiple accents are amazing and he is a great musician as well ❤️
My opinion hasn't changed in all these years. Spike and Buffy are still one of the hottest couples to ever grace our TV screens. James and Sarah's chemistry was off the charts.
You're on the wrong video. This is a Spike/Buffy scene, not Buffy/Angel. Bangel ended in Season 3. Spuffy are together in the comics, and they were in love (as confirmed by Joss Whedon) in the final BTVS episode. She even told Angel she loves Spike. Buffy doesn't belong to Angel.
You can keep telling yourself that, but you might want to try watching Angel's show, because he fell in love with Cordelia. It's called evolution. People change. His relationship with Buffy was doomed after they had sex.
I don't think Buffy and Angel would work as a couple. He wants to be redeemed; they both have missions to protect people, and they can't do that if they remain obsessed with each other. Buffy has matured with Spike and they're able to work as a team with him not turning evil. S/B = mature love.
Drusilla didn't truly love Spike. She wanted Angelus more than him. Spike always knew that. The only woman he was able to truly love in a healthy way was Buffy. He died for the world because he loves her. I think Buffy loved Angel in a high school way - passionate, but not meant to last.
"A whisper in the dead man's ear, it doesn't make it real". Pretty much sums up why Buffy turns to him, she can be with him, without it having to truly be "real" for her
I am still amazed that he's not actually British. His accent and voice pattern are perfect. I remember seeing James Marsters on Smallville and commenting to my roommate at the time how he did a great American accent only to be corrected that he actually is American.
Funny thing is many of the crew on the set of buffy had no idea he was american. If i remember correctly they were thinking a Southern American accent for Spike originally. When James auditioned in a cockney accent they love it so much they kept it.
Yeah, odd thing, pretty much the only BtVS actor who wasn't faking his British accent was Tony Head, aka Rupert "Ripper" Giles. Still freaks me out when I see a panel discussion with James Marsters speaking without the accent. Oh, well, at least he's still pretty.
Freaking love this song so much. Spike is basically saying "I love you, but you don't love me back, so don't keep coming around and using me whenever you have an itch to scratch or an ear you want to whisper into, cause I need more than what you're offering"
And yet he’d gladly die in that fire that’s Buffy making herself feel better by using him, because she hates herself for how she feels, but he doesn’t see that till he gets a soul, and by then she doesn’t hate herself or him that way anymore. He can’t begin to understand her here because he doesn’t even know who he is at this point, even less so when he get a soul, as Buffy rightly pointed out when he told her she liked him because he hurt her.
the whole chapter was an important progression for all the characters, and also they literally sing what they couldnt tell, i mean his/her hiding feelings.
everything spike said about her is true. she was in denial and didn't want to face the truth. she was ashamed of being attracted and wanting a "monster"
When Spike drops to his knees telling her shes got a willing slave, & the way he looks at her up & down😍😍 damn! Still intense to this day! Loved his part lived the chemistry still love the series❤
Same don't get me wrong I love Angel but my love for Spike is 10 trillion times stronger then times that by another 10 trillion. He's sexy asf . And omg when he died in the last episode of Buffy I had tears in my eyes. Can't wait to watch Angel now.
I know that their love was difficult and started off bad but I still love Spike and Buffy over Angel and Buffy. Don't get me wrong I don't hate Angel. I don't think he fought as hard as Spike for his relationship.
SPIKE: I died So many years ago But you can make me feel Like it isn't so And why you come to be with me I think I finally know mmm-mmm You're scared Ashamed of what you feel And you can't tell the ones you love You know they couldn't deal Whisper in a dead man's ear It doesn't make it real That's great But I don't wanna play 'Cause being with you touches me More than I can say And since I'm only dead to you I'm saying stay away and Let me rest in peace Let me rest in peace Let me get some sleep Let me take my love and bury it In a hole 6-foot deep I can lay my body down But I can't find my, sweet release So let me rest in peace You know, You got a willing slave And you just love to play the thought That you might misbehave But 'till you do, I'm telling you Stop visiting my grave And let me rest in peace I know I should go But I follow you like a man possessed There's a traitor here beneath my breast And it hurts me more than you've ever guessed If my heart could beat, it would break my chest But I can see you're unimpressed So leave me be and Let me rest in peace Let me get some sleep Let me take my love and bury it In a hole 6-foot deep I can lay my body down But I can't find my sweet release So let me rest in peace Why won't you Let me rest in peace?
So much pleasure to see that in the end Buffy can hardly stop herself from giving in to Spike's desire. And actually she runs away because understands it. Just love it
I'm a bit of a typical guy - closed off and uncomfortable with the vulnerability that comes with sharing your feelings. That's why I loved this scene so much. He wants to get her out of there because he's conflicted but her subtle "what's up?" in that smooth honeyed voice just washes over him. Most guys know it's nearly impossible to be mad at a woman you're in love with if they're being nice to you. Women have such power over us that it pisses us off. A single touch, the high pitch of your voice mixed with such a caring inflection... if we truly love you it *melts* our defenses. Defenses that work against *everyone else in the world* He has the singing bug and his feelings come out but he throws his head back in disgust like "Shit. Really?!" And the whole song is a confliction between "Holy shit I love you" and "I don't need you. Just fuck off" right back to "Don't go. I'll do anything" *shiver* Someone who has been deeply in love definitely wrote this song. If you've ever been madly in love in a toxic relationship you understand all too well. And my favorite line "If my heart could beat it would break my chest" is one of the best and most impactful lyrics I've heard to date. God I miss good TV.
Was listening to “I’m just Ken” and this played straight after 😅 omg is it just me or this songs are giving exact same vibes 🤣🤣 on top of that Ken is wearing Spikes signature outfit 😂
Well, Angel got laid, too. But banging Darla wasn't about love or trust, it was just a really weak and cowardly way to commit suicide. Read the fine print on your curse, you immortal idiot! (The fact that he somehow knocked her up doesn't count, since he had no idea that it was even possible.)
I have watched all of the seasons and in my opinion Buffy and Angel were an epic love but Buffy and Spike were end game, they had a greater connection and love and they should of been end game.
I know it’s not the same since it’s not live action but in the comics, they start dating, which is the most healthy relationship they ever had. Best of all it’s canon!
I cant lie im a teen with a majour thing for David Boreanaz which is why we started watching Buffy but getting to this scene made me drool James Marsters had Spikes role down to a tea and i love him so
Also the song is about the fact that if you cannot love me as I love you if you can't love me for not capable stop torturing me but coming over and expecting me to be at your feet and beckon call and basically you know that I love you so stop treating me like your love slave, if you are not capable of giving me something like love in return.
For all the people arguing for the Angel/Buffy relationship over the Spike/Buffy relationship, you have to realize something. The Angel character exists as a metaphor for a deceptively abusive relationship. The seemingly perfect guy who the naive, inexperienced, younger partner falls for, only to discover later they have abusive tendencies. The show literally used the "Everything changes after you have sex" trope. (in a clever way, I might add) After all this is established about Angel he starts acting incredibly reserved and trying to distance himself from his triggers (namely Buffy) like a person with a abusive tendencies might do if they realized they had issues. Buffy getting over Angel was akin to a woman breaking up with an abusive boyfriend and stronger for it. Where Angel distancing himself from Buffy and moving on is akin to a man with an unhealthy fixation on a girl, that brings the worst out of him, realizing the best thing to do is to just cut ties and move on. What I'm saying is if these 2 characters ended up together then it would undermine what their relationship is supposed to represent, and the growth that both characters experienced as a result of ending it. Spike on the other hand isn't a metaphor. He doesn't represent any checkpoint for Buffy's character growth (no more-so than any of the other characters) He is just a genuine character who started bad, no pretense or misdirection. He loves Buffy but the sad truth is he doesn't deserve Buffy, and he realizes that. But he wants her and he's willing to do anything. So he devotes himself to trying to redeem himself, to overcome his past. He's more of a genuine character, and while it's still debatable about whether he can be forgiven for all the terrible things he's done, I think he belongs with Buffy more than Angel does.
Thats great and all but its not how love works int he rela world. It was and will always be angel for buffy. And vice versa for angel. They just are married to the mission so know they cant be together. In buffys eyes spike is less than angel and you can tell bc she doesnt have the same deep love were it distracts from the mission with him.
@@spamgarbage6999 I wasn't presuming to make any statement about how love really worked "int he rela world". I was sharing my opinion on what what Buffy's relationships represented. I won't deny that Buffy and Angel are in love with each other. But being in love is not always enough and not always healthy. Sometimes you fall for someone who is terrible for you and you have to make that hard decision to walk away and move on as best you can. I believe that's what Angel is supposed to represent. He's that first love that she will never quite get over, but will always hurt her if she tries to be with him.
Buffy and Spike were a much better story than Buffy and Angel, although I appreciate them both. Buffy was a very different person in the beginning. Much more naive, less hard/strong. Her lovey dovey thing with Angel worked and led to a fantastic, powerful, dark twist that was great for the vibe of seasons 2 and 3. But her relationship with Spike was much more "real" and they made a lot more sense together, whereas Angel and Cordy really should have ended up together.
I just can't bring myself to forgive Spike for what he did to Buffy, but I still love this song, I think it is so beautiful. "If my heart could beat, it would break my chest." I think that's some of the best lyrics someone has ever wrote, he really moved me with this song.
Normally, I can't forgive it, but that scene is the scene where he realises that without his soul he is always going to be a monster no matter how hard he tries. So he actually does go get his soul back and become a better person, even if he retains the Spike personality we know and love... after some odd angsting in a basement.
I don't know. He looked pretty horrified after she had defended herself against his attack. I always took it to be that he realised he wasn't going to change or be good enough until he got his soul back. Of course, things are always open to interpretation.
well Buffy clearifies this doubt when the First is trying to manipulate him so he they tie him and Buffy talks to him, tellling him that he repented, he wanted to be better and risked everything to be it.
The way they handled Spike and Buffy's relationship was just cringey to me. For one, when it started, Spike didn't have a soul; he should be incapable of love or remorse. He might be obsessed with Buffy; that's fine. But to actually care about her or to feel bad about hurting her? No. That should be impossible for him. The whole quest to get his soul should never have happened because he never should have wanted it to. Second, once he _did_ get his soul, he barely acted any different. He came to terms with all the horrible things he did far too quickly, and then it was right back to same old Spike.
Spike and buffy forever. T V show with them fighting evil together like comic books. Would watch faithfully. Buffy belonged with spike. How stupid they dont know what fans want.
You can't really blame Spike for wanting to bury his love for Buffy, I mean after all even after Spike and Buffy were together she still treated him horrible. Some people say Buffy never loved Spike but it was always Angel. I'm not trying to stir up any trouble but I honestly think Buffy did love Spike before season 7, yes she'll always love Angel sure but I don't think Buffy was in love with Angel anymore by season 7 because Spike had stolen her heart even if she didn't know it. I also find it funny that Angel never pops up in the one season where Spike and Buffy have a relationship, was that intentional or just an accident?
It's the fault of the writers. I hate to say it. But Buffy's relationships are the worst writing in the show. The writers post Buffy+Angel did nothing but constantly remind us of her love for Angel and have her keep all her other boyfriends at a distance. So it's like "why even write the relationship at all if you're not gonna commit to it" It feels like teasing the fans with fake ships that go nowhere.
Always wondered why Spike and Buffy (romantically) together never appealed to me. . . . Right here, right now. This day November 4th 2022 Friday at 4:36PM I understand. . . . It fits the same annoying loyalty of Cat Noir to Ladybug. Spike after deeply "falling in love" Buffy, nothing else mattered. She treated him like a punching bag, at her beck/call when she wanted him. No her demeanor towards Spike was worse then it was with Riley. ADRIGAMI ALWAYS!! Lukanette cuteness and Angel/Buffy completely. That vamp was the only to truly get Buffy emotionally crazy for right reasons. Plus Spike trying to R-A-P-E Buffy, she may forgive him, I never can for that.
