Loved your delight at seeing Oz's interest in Willow. Your whole face lit up! Your obvious enchantment with the show makes it a pleasure to watch your reactions!

Seth Green is just amazing and always a welcome addition. He was already pretty well known prior to Buffy (and was/is a crush of mine) so I was really glad when he joined the show. The way he couldn't take his eyes off Eskimo-Willow just melts my heart every time. FYI - if you want to see some adorable photos google their names with the movie My Stepmother is an Alien. They were in that movie together back in 1988 (I saw it at the cinema and it was soooo bad) and the go to a school dance together. It was almost 10 years earlier than Buffy so they are so super adorable together back then. :) Thanks again Dakara.

You’re right about if you had watched the show in real time. I was still a child maybe 9 when this episode aired and it was the highlight of my week haha. I’m really happy I was able to grow up with this show.

I like this episode. "Ampata" is charming and tragic... and yet ultimately she's a serial killer... so we really can't ship her with Xander. I've noticed that this is a somewhat unpopular episode, but I always look forward to it, even though it comes right after the great School Hard.

I don't know if Impata willingly let herself be sacrificed those thousands of years ago, but if not not, I feel sorry for her. That means that her fate was similar to Buffy's. Neither one chose their path.

great reaction to a motw ep and no worries, the arc will come soon enough. Like some have mentioned, Oz is played by Seth Green, who has been in a lot of movies/tv shows over the years. I will always think of him as Scott, Dr Evil's son from the Austin Powers movie franchise... lol..... a CTU for you today, and keep em coming!

I'm really enjoying your Buffy reactions. This episode is often overlooked, but I really like the contrast between Buffy and Ampata and the way they're both teenage girls with a destiny that devalues their own lives in favor of a higher calling and how their choices do still have weight. Plus, the shot where Ampata and Xander kiss is so gorgeously lit. Also, while Buffy is one of the earliest shows to utilize major multiple-episode plot arcs rather than relying almost entirely on stand-alone episodes, it pretty much formulated the concept of a season-wide arc that profoundly changes the story for good. Before Buffy, audiences simply didn't expect main plot events in most episodes. This was before DVDs and streaming, so if you missed an episode, you couldn't find out what you missed very easily--if at all. So networks and storytellers really relied on stories that could be wrapped up in 1-2 episodes in a 22 episode season, and audiences expected that. Think of the first season of Supernatural, for example--it's got a TON of monster of the week stuff and it wasn't on air for another eight years after this. But season 2 is where Buffy really begins to change the mold of television history, and I'll admit it's still a little uneven as the showrunners find their footing, because they're really doing something new. As the show goes along, I promise the monster-of-the-week episodes become fewer in number. (In other words, please don't lose interest! I really like your reactions! It seems slow to get going, but it'll happen!)

"Ampata" the mummy girl thought she could drain Xander...but she hesitated, long enough for it to become too late. I think she just couldn't do it after all. A sympathetic villain, which I really liked. I wish they could have found a way to keep her around without need to feed on people.

I liked this episode of the mummy movie1932

Oz definitely the coolest character in The Buffyverse. Nobody does laid back like Oz, his witty one liners and observations are brilliant throughout the whole show. When he says 'you're only interested in a girl who can walk or talk' reply 'she doesn't have to talk', the look on OZ's face. Inca Mummy Girl one of the weaker episodes of S2 Xander showing his complete innocence and gullibility. We all feel for Willow who at this stage in the show is so meek and quiet, always feeling looked over. We all seem to forget what an awful bully and generally horrible vacuous person Cordelia was, totally putting down Willow at every opportunity throughout the early parts of the show, we see that again here. The metaphor of the show saying basically looks aren't everything, and be careful as things are never what they seem. Jonathan gets a lucky escape here along with Xander also. Xander comes through at the end and saves Willow's life. Great foreshadowing again here with Xander and his 'taste in women'.

Btw... the name of the band is *Dingoes ate my Baby* and there is tons of DamB merch, even today. But sadly not a real band...

I love your perspective on Xander. I feel like so many fans jump all over him and judge him negatively for every little negative interaction he has (which I understand there are many) but you pretty much nail it here.

The addition of Oz, Spike and Cordelia as main characters are what makes S2 such a huge step up in quality from S1 (and why I usually advise newcomers to start with S2). S1 is great but it gets sooo much better!

i remember when i first saw this i knew so many people were gonna get confused by the ritualistic side of things with the mummy...but i wasn't. there is an aspect f sadness to this; Ampata (the incan princess) she wanted to live and have a regular life...she never got that chance because she was sacrificed...now she is trying to do that but the only way is to kill others to have it.

Oz was in Skooby Doo, with SMG. You may have seen him in that.

My theory is that the mummy girl was sacrificed for a reason, like to save the world from a deity of destruction or something like that. And now that she's no more acting as the sacrifice they'll have to find another "chosen one" for that role.

NOPE! I will defend Cordy to my dying day when she says, "They don't even speak American". There are 2 "English" languages. British English and American English. Barring regional differences for Slang and Accents, they are similar but NOT the same. It's quite akin to Spanish Spanish and Mexican Spanish. They understand each other up until a certain point. 1 shotting snack cakes is a time honored tradition that I will not have sullied by the likes of you!!! The comment from Buffy telling Xander, "You look good." wasn't a "romantic" thing. It was a genuine, "Hey. You put in some effort and actually look good (Coming from a friend)" kinda deal. No dear. That is NOT Jamie Kennedy. That is Seth Green. But I can see how the comparison can be made. Poor Xander. Also, "Bravo!" Xander for stepping up and willing putting your life on the line to save a friend. Oz....YUP. "Don't just go off of looks alone...and maybe you'll find a deeper connection. Like Oz is planning on doing..." I'm sorry...Are you trying to say that Willow isn't "pretty"?!?!?!?! I might have to stop watching your reactions after a blasphemous comment like that. I'm not going to. But I COULD if I wanted to! And that is what matters!

Seth Green is such a great actor and I love his character Oz.
