Aimee Mann, the singer at the Bronze, one of her songs had been used previously in the background for an episode. When she found out, she got upset. Not because she was against them using the song, but because she's a huge Buffy fan and wanted to perform it herself at the Bronze. Joss made it up to her here, by letting her perform and giving her a line!
She would come into a restaurant I used to work at every few weeks or so, she was very nice. Same with Clea DuVall who played Marcy the invisible girl. When she would call and make a reservation or place a take out order I always half expected her to start muttering about killing Cordelia lol
I always felt so bad for Spike here. He'd worked to get his soul back, and was hit with and damaged by guilt for all the people he'd killed and then he was made to kill people Again.
I’m wondering why the first didn’t try to do that with Spike and Angel at the same time to take out Buffy. One on one it would be hard for them but 2 on 1 it would be an easy kill for them
Andrew C the first was using a trigger on spike based on his horrible last memory of his mother when he was already a vampire, Angel doesn’t have that because as a vampire he never had that problem since he never gave a damn about anything and he already suffers for every single bad thing he did since he experienced that pain for over a century.
NO!! Spike never worked to get his soul back, he is just saying that NOW when he have it. human dies and demon move in, a demon would never suicide them self to get a soul...... but lets say it was an insane demon, that demon is GONE now, the old william is back, the demon is GONE!! all the feelings the demon had for buffy was the feelings of that demon, William still have the memories of the demon ofc, but that is it
@@Belnick6666 Its merging of demon and human. Demon Spike worked for his soul because he wanted to change and he remained demon after getting soul merging both worlds of his existence. Demon is still in but with soul. Demon will always be part of Spike even if he die now when his soul merged with demon in his body. So no Demon will never leave and is still around kicking. Vampires are same like humans they were because demon is created in moment of turning. Spike as human and as demon loved his mother wanted to save her. Throught the series vampires always remember how they were as humans and take revenge. Drusilla did that, guy from submarine in Angel season 5 did that, Darla did take revenge on Wolfram and Hart etc... Its clear in lore of the that universe
The term "Sleeper" refers to a spy who is placed in a target country or organization not to undertake an immediate mission but to act as a potential asset if activated. Thus, they are "Sleeping" until activated.
when he says " do it fast okay." he sounds so defeated and sad...He truly believes that buffy staking him is the right thing and he just wants it over with... I wanna hug him :(
One of my favorite episodes of the seventh season. Anya was just hysterical. Her freaking out to Xander about spike and her pretending to come on to spike. Also loved the spuffy moment. Spike trying to tell buffy he loves her soo much and he is sorry for what he did in the past. Also loved the spuffy fight as well at the end.
"Why is everyone hitting on Spike?" C'mon! Look at him! 😍 yeah this episode confused me too... same with last episode where that vampire told Buffy that Spike turned him. I really like that scene with him and Anya. I KNEW she was ONTO something... which is why her "excuse" is never surprising. 😆
Another fantastic episode (with a suspenseful and maddening cliffhanger). It's still confusing for a first time viewer but there's more info as to what's been going on than the previous episode. Powerful acting, especially from Sarah Michelle Gellar and James Marsters. Their chemistry is explosive, touching and beautiful at the same time.
One of the best episode. When spike asks to kill him to buffy, she understood his stuation. he didin't kill all people on purpose. spike needs help That band in bronze is the first acting cameo. In buffy no band had a lines. They were first :)
Oh my goodness I made it here so early!!! Love watching your reactions. Buffy has been my favorite show for about 16 years, and your videos make me feel like I’m watching the series over again with a friend. Love it 😊
I came over to watch from watching Passion of the Nerd. Two of my favorite channels, yours and his. EDIT - I had forgotten, but the singer in the band is Aimee Mann, who has had a pretty impressive career.
@@antonbrakhage490 One of my favorites, too, as you can see from my handle. And like her songs for "Magnolia," this one is also appropriate for the storytelling here.
I was equally confused the first time watching this but it all makes sense soon. I love that song that “Spike” sings, I remember singing it all the time when first aired. And that ending 😱
This situation was very mysterious and confusing back in the day, too - but nice to see Spike's innocence pretty much confirmed here. And yeah, that Giles cliffhanger is pretty scary.
You REALLY get INTO an episode, which is great by itself. Then you PROTEST if one of your favorites is about to be attacked or lost. But best of all YOU LOOK STRAIGHT INTO THE CAMERA when you're confused and your eyes speak volumes before you speak! Plus you keep track of a lot of previous episodes and who said what. WELL DONE!
"Is he ok" is a question we can't answer, obviously :( This is one of my favorite episodes in rewatches! Sorry, I'm kind of in a hurry to watch your next reaction!! Thank you sooo much, Shan!!
At the beginning of the scene where Anya is going through his clothes I thought Spike, when he caught her, would make some crude remark about her getting into his pants. Soulless Spike might have done. 11:00 'How could you use a poor maiden so' is a line from the song that seems to be his 'trigger' - 'Early One Morning' At the end of the episode, until you blinked, I wondered if the video had frozen.
Great ep, great reaction. And I'd forgotten about that ending so it surprised me too! In fact, I couldn't even spoil you if I wanted to (which I don't and never would) 'cause I really don't remember season 7 well at all. Fun!
In season 1, Eve is shown causing trees to grow to replace the ones burned in the forest fire. Wouldnt that mean she overcame the block that kept her from affecting living things?
WHY DID I ONLY JUST GET THIS NOW. "He said you would do it." The First chose Spike to be dispicable so buffy would kill him. Because she didn't kill him, he ended up being The Champion that defeated his plans. That must've been in the cards from the Powers That Be, and The First somehow knew that.
A bit of trivia: The singer of the band playing at The Bronze is the only featured music act that has a speaking line (Dingoes Ate My Baby is a fictional band). She is also the only "famous" person to appear on the show. She was famous for a band she was in in the 80's ('Til Tuesday).
On the first run my theory was the first was telling vamps to lie about Spike being their sire to trick the gang into killing him like it tried to trick Willow into killings herself. As usual I was totally wrong. Lol
Mwhahahaha!!! I've been looking forward to this. I'm sure many people were. The characters on the show has started piecing it all together, have you Shan? This is Season 7, did you really think they were going to end the series with kid gloves? We're enjoy watching you unravel with all the feels.
I love how much you love him - them - and I love to go back and watch your heart melt, especially at the beginning of season 6 when he's talking to her after her coming back. You really are extraordinarily beautiful and I mean more than just your perfect face.
Imagine no new episodes after this for about three weeks. Waited nearly an entire month to see what happened. And yes, I reacted just like you. For three weeks.
The writer of the episode, once called Buffy/Spike fans serial killer lovers, so him going with the serial killer theme for the episode is not a big stretch
At the first time i wached this two episodes (7, 8) i was yelling "What r you doing with my Spike again?!?!?" And I was so glad to realise in the end of this episode that he is innosent (in this case)... :)
The confusion on her face was familiar as the episode did the same thing to me during its initial airing. This is one of those episode where after the season/series is over it makes a lot more sense. Aimee Mann being intercut with the fighting is probably my favorite part of the episode. I also love the fact that she is famous to the point where people know she is someone but just don't know who, thus skirting Joss's initial concept for The Bronze, which was that he wanted nobody bands (non famous-big named people) playing there. "So you want him around because?..." This is just one more thing on my already long list of why I dislike Xander Harris. Seven years and he has to ask Buffy why they would need someone around that they need to question. IDIOT!!! That's something a S1 character would ask, not a S7 character. The most confusing episode in the series, in my opinion. "What kind of cliffhanger is that?" The kind that's stressing you out, which is technically the point of most cliffhangers.
Oh geez I remember watching that end the first time and thinking "you're shirt" and just balling my eyes out. Then thinking spin the wheel on where Joss Freaking Whedon will land next week and moping. Can't argue it's not well written though. Brilliant really. Also early one morning takes me back to Pollyanna and by extension Polly. Spike and Anya, Buffy and Spike, "sorry mam but it's my job" all helped.
While I love these flurries of videos, unless the algorithm has changed RU-vid only really pushes one video a day. It may be worth considering scheduling the video releases to optimize for that and give yourself both more patreon content and a bigger buffer in case you get sick or go on vacation.
Anytime I see one of her Buffyverse vids in my recommended feed, I know she's posted more than one, so I tend to go directly to her page and watch all of them, and I am pretty sure anyone who's watched her for a while does the same.
@@cirrustate8674 Same. One shows in the feed and I check for all her most recent ones. Especially since she's got her scheduled postings for the week, so I knew she had these 2 specific episodes of Buffy coming out, and the episode of Firefly, and knew they were all up as soon as one showed (which was Firefly's "out of gas" for me today).
I was a big Buffy`s fan back in the days, I loved the show, mostly the first 3 seasons, then I felt that it started to go downhills from there, and didn`t enjoy the latest seasons as much as the first ones, BUT, I gotta say this is one of my fav episodes from the whole series, and Spike being tempted by that female Vampire in The Bronze, to basically turn back to his former self was kinda poetic. People see that fight like just another one in the series, but it`s deeper than that, it was Spike fighting against his own nature, his own demons, that, along with the amazing song at the background, was so epic and beautiful, TOO BAD YOU CUTTED THE SCENE!!!!.
Your watch order seems messed up. The original order was S7 episodes 7-16 all run before the Apocalypse Nowish episode of Angel after that it's Angel S4 episodes 7-15 and then it returns to switching back and forth between Buffy and Angel until the end of the season... you'll find out later why in both arcs. And please pay more attention (referring to 11:05)
I was paying perfect attention, I just didn't understand why he was killing at that point. My order is fine. I like to watch them in bunches not just 1 after the other, it's jarring.
I want to say why that's a little off - but I can't because of a particular spoiler... her watching order is fine though. It's one of the recommended orders to sync up any and all cross-overs and links between the two... Though me watching the reactions now - I know that due to the change in channel, they couldnt do much cross-over stuff... but L.A is only supposed to be a couple hours drive away from Sunnydale - the scoobies should have been seeing fire raining down from the sky, dammit! lol
Is Xander is still paying for the house that Anya is staying in now? It's the house they bought together in Season 5x03, he's clearly not living there anymore, as he has his own place.
what i mean is, that the show is so dull!! it have some cool things, but she would be better reacting to Titans and one of the guys from doom patrol house join the titans so there is a tie in, but the show doom patrol is so boring, it feel like 80% of an episode is artistic or filler and 20% is action and story progression :P
I was watching your season 4 The Freshman reaction for the so many time lol and I wanted to compliment you that I noticed on that reaction you have a nice body lol anyways my email just notified me that you posted this up so now I'm going to watch this thanks been waiting so long for one of my Buffy reactors latest video 🌻💙⚡👑
@@SonicLamb But surely if it was just for the views, she wouldn't be posting Angel videos at all by that piece of 'logic'. I myself watch her Buffy, Angel and Firefly videos (As well as some other non-Whedon ones). I've never fully understood why people who watched Buffy never watched Angel, as it is a great show in its own rights. But thats there decision to make i guess, just like Shan is making to watch and show people her reactions to Angel. There are other reactors out there if you are jonesing for a Buffy fix, and I imagine most if not all of them will be covering Angel as well when they get to the end of Buffy Season 3. Not trying to antagonise or anything, but it's her channel, she should be able to post her videos as she likes.
Spike is lying about him willingly getting the soul lol. the cave demon tricked him, instead of removing the chip and restoring him to william the bloody with no feelings toward the slayer. now spike claim he did it himself to seek empathy.....*sigh* a demon would not seek out a soul as that would be suicide for the demon and the demon would rather end them self that let someone else be in control of the body....a demon(vamp) turn a human, the human DIES and a demon MOVE IN
No Joss whedon stated in an interview that he was always going to get a soul. idk why people get that wrong when he legit says it himself. he has a soul, hes not just going to lie about why he got it
