How are you sure that it is going to fish hook side up? The density of the resin that you put inside the hook is higher than the water and there are no inner wire wraps that can act as a ballast. In other words, you most likely shifted the center of gravity towards the gap of the hook. It is likely to rollover and fish hook side down (or the leg side up). If the current is strong, it may not matter to the fish that may think the shrimp lost the control, but in little still-ish water it may look awkward to the fish. Also, no need to close the gap of the hook.

Jon put years of design and testing into this pattern prior to its acceptance for commercial production by Umpqua Feather Merchants. The slotted tungsten bead is what makes the fly ride hook point up.
