Chugging along on the F150 Project. I've recently had an axle truss installed on the 8.8 rear differential and I ordered a disc brake conversion kit from Bronco Graveyard, made by TSM.

I have read in forums that the 04 econilne ford van rear disc brake parts might work. Except my 96 f150 in my daily driver and I dont a parts truck of the same year to test it out on.

I have read similar things, but have never actually tried looking for that combination of parts.

Video was pretty cool I would have loved to get more information for a half a 1985 F-150 4.9 engine in a four-speed granny transmission I have put the front end from a 1988 bronco and I put the leaf springs from a 250 still remain they 8.8 drum brakes but want to change for the disc in my sprockets are half an inch what are my options out there

Looks like an outstanding piece to ensure structural rigidity. I might fab up something similar only using DOM tubing above (and mirroring) below the center section. I will be drag racing mine with about 550-600 whp and this looks like this is a light-weight solid solution to axial flexing

It is pretty stout. I was assured by the welder I higher that it is stronger than anything he ever used on his 8.8s in his drag racing days. Sounds like you guys could trade some stories. Tell me more about your project!

Is this the Barnes 4wd? Mine was a PAIN I notice he fabbed it different.. for one it looks like he cut the bridge at the base so the top of it could still go under.. I somehow ended up warping the main truss even taking my time and letting the metal cool.. and even then the bridge would not fit under the truss so my bridge goes to the top and i just made like 4-5 passes on each end. I notice he also canted the supports toward the pumpkin.. unless this is just a very similar kit... It was my first real welding project but... i would have gladly paid more money to at least by the truss assembly finished knowing it would sit on the tubes flat .. now i have to tack one end down or strap the other down... I mean whatever.

Hey DS, this is the Barnes 4wd kit. I love how it turned out from the welding shop. The guy at the shop was a mustang foxbox enthusiast so he was very familiar with the 8.8 and didn't really need much input from me. Sorry that it didn't work out all that well for you. I plan to talk about this more during my Livestream this Sunday night, Episode 48. Hopefully you can check it out.

@@GettinJunkDone Actually I did get it welded on the tubes yesterday! lol It wasnt that bad... I used a ratchet strap on one side.. tacked it... strapped the other side with some strong tacks.. Not the prettiest beads but multi passed where I could... but the metal still penetrated and I do NOT think my tubes will be twisting. It was mostly a pain because no matter how much I cleaned with a wire wheel there were enough pits of rust / carbon ... Blue Demon wire is impressive with non perfect metal but I ran out and had to get a spool of Forney at the hardware store to finish the job... which pulsed its way through. But also a pain because I didn't bother to jack my van up and did the job basically laying on my side and one handed with a non auto darkening helmet I had to keep flipping.. I also have a disc brake conversion kit... seems typical and simple with those GM / GTO calipers I have yet to figure out the drum E brake but it looks like its just a thread on the old drum so maybe the calipers have the same thing? I got those because I could not find a C clip eliminator kit ( not that I think a titanium axle will break on this but still ) that fits the econoline... the tubes pattern is different.
