In this video we demonstrate just how easy it is to convert the rear brakes from Drum to Disc using one of our Legend Series Disc Brake Conversion Kits
Very excellent sample of conversion kit within 3 minutes. I see the ?? Asked where not those of a mechanic. All parts where the if they looked closer at video. Thanks for demonstration.
you literally skipped a whole bunch of things you have to do. if only life was this easy. but a good video for simple minded people to buy your product. i give you that.
Why did the axle even have to be taken out I see no reason why everything's got a hole in it that seems to be big enough for it to slide right through and unnecessary step in my opinion.
I think taking the brake pads and the springs and all that stuff off is really that much really necessary I mean that's a given a simple person can even tell that once you remove all that stuff but that's all that's left is exactly what he did now if y'all are talking about all the shade tree mechanic crap like hitting it with torches and all that other stupid shit to break a boat loose here and there I don't know what to tell you because I've never had the resort to stupid shit usually a can of WD-40 does it
the bit i was looking for advice on was fitting and correctly adjusting the ebrake cables (which they dont supply and forget to tell you the standard ones wont work)
a bit over simplified because it is a "sales pitch" missed parking brake work because you will need everything for that too, Brake line install and bleeding and axle seals.
And also, a New Master Cylinder. I'm not the most sure why, myself, but I think it's because the system will give too much or too little braking pressure to the rear discs if you're using a master cylinder that was for Discs on Front and Drums on Rear.
I did the rear brake discs upgrade on my 1967 it was hell to get the brakes to work right car did not stop any better I ended up replacing everything, electric vac motor helped a lot but at 10,000miles the seals in pump went out, ps emergency brake doesn't work a sh== l was a mechanic for years too! This car is a cougar
Nice! I appreciate you for keeping the lacs alive. U riding clean fam, salute from VA. I really like the sun roof u added. What year and vehicle did u take them out of?
Hi ! I have a 1991 Ford f150 pick up truck that I want to do this conversion too. Question will be. Regarding the safety break line at the rear tire. Is the safety break line will be 1) useful to be reinstall to the new calipers or 2) it will be eliminated ?
Like the simplicity of the install, however, would like to see the new brake hose install. Did you use the old distribution block or change it out. Do we need new brake lines from the block to the caliper??? Thank you.
Sorry about the late reply Robert, but you would use the current hardlines that are within your system. We send you new brake hoses to go from the original lines to the caliper.
@@MasterPowerBrakes do you recommend replacement of the master cylinder as well. Something that can push the new fluid to the caliper with more strength and durability?
I'm looking to change a toyota corolla LE 1.8 lter 2012 is this possible and what would the cost of this endeavor be could you do a video on this I would really appreciate any insight you may have for this procedure thank you again for all the great tips you provide for us keep up the great work.....
never took my axles out cut a slot in the backing plate with a plasma cutter and it slid right in makes things a lot easier if you need to completely disassemble
What about the axel seal? Do you supply new ones 🤔? Is there a step you left out regarding the axel removal and instalation?🤔 I know every car is different but I think the axel removal and installation needs to be mentioned in more detail. 😳
Does your spacer overlap the bearing outer race? it doesn't look like it The original back plate is what secures the bearing, if the new spacer doesn't overlap then the bearing and half shaft will be free to move in and out of the axle housing slightly.
Good point !!! But it's not the backing plate that holds the bearing, it would be the retaining plate on the axle , in this video it doesn't have it fitted, I wonder if the adapter plate clears that retainer plate as sometimes it has a bulge to clear the bearing.
Would that work on a 2000 Dodge Ram with 2001 rear 1500 V8 5.9 I was just wondering if that would work as well I do not like doing drum brakes so I wanna switch mine over is it possible
Hello, sorry I have a 1992 4.9 L Ford F-150 6 inline pickup truck, rear gawr 5450 LB and I want to convert it from drum brakes to disc brakes. Could you tell me which are the ideal brake discs to use in this truck, please. Thanks.
We do offer the new style of rear disc brake conversion kit for the Impala. As far as 14" wheels, I would recommend taking our Wheel Fitment Template and trying it inside of your wheels to see. Some might work. Some might not. Here is a link to your application where you will find the template and instructions on using them: www.mpbrakes.com/rear-brake-conversion-kit/1962-chevrolet-impala-legend-series-rear.asp?catid=D821F458ED7B4C40AE406C65CCD91D34
Our kits will fit MOST 15 inch stock wheels. We do not guarantee anything only because we do not specialize in wheels. We do however have wheel fitment templates for all of our kits.. If you are having trouble downloading the templates off of our website, feel free to contact us and we can email you the template to see if your wheel will work!
You can see the broken end of the old brake line. You will need to replace it or connect a flexible fitting to the end. Needs to be a double flare on the metal end.
@@ele_112 Buy it and figure it out building brake lines isnt too awfully hard. Usually they include a braded cable that hooks to the brake line but if they dont do it yourself
You are correct, this set up has no emergency brake. There needs to be either a mini drum brake inside the rotor or they make them clamp the outside caliper. This set up is missing both of those.
