Bugging In & Preparing Your Home For Civil Unrest! Basic Steps To Prepare For SHTF! 

This makes much more sense than the "bugging out" crowd. Really, where the heck you gonna bug out to? Even if you live in the suburbs you ain't getting anywhere unless you're driving a heavy tank. Much easier to defend your home than a car in a traffic jam, plus you can keep a large amount of emergency supplies in your home, not so much on your back or in the car. And if you think you are going to live off the land you better test out that thesis a few times by camping out with minimal supplies for a couple weeks and see if you can really do that, you'll most likely find out that it's much more difficult to do than you think, pretty much impossible during winter.

Some of my family members (quietly) think that I am paranoid. That’s until would be robbers entered my backyard at 2:50 am. I have cameras all around the perimeter of my property, those cameras alerted me (on my phone) and woke me up. I calmly watched and followed them as they went around while on the phone with police. Let’s just say they didn’t like when they saw me standing at the other side of the glass door and fled. I don’t know why I guess they didn’t like my hardware.

Dude the most important thing to have for security are dogs and a must for anybody that’s in preparedness. Not just for security but also family. Not having a companion and somebody protecting things while you’re gone is a must. Having dogs that are always ready for the fight and ready for any threat that comes.👍🏼🍻

Always liked the idea of fortifying with concrete and sandbags. Digging tunnels would be sweet too!

Pre-cut sheets of 3/4" plywood to board up ground level windows and store them in the rooms they will board up.

I don't think we will ever have th stereotypical shtf scenario. I think we will just slowly collapse into some Argentina / Detroit / South Africa situation

We been bugging in since COVID toilet paper runs..😂...bugged out built out and established in our rural county...started with a down payment on an acre and 3 grand ...have 5 acres paid off and all set !

I have a CBS construction home with poured concrete inside of blocks with rebar supports. Only have 12 openings with reinforced steal covers that bolt to inside of the cut outs. Have a 3 year supply of food and a 15k gallon pool with enough filtration to use that water plus 500 gallon rain water tank. Seeds to plant a garden solar for power. Forgot the 500lbs of meat stored and replenished regularly after consumption. Plenty of firearms and enough ammo to last for years of trouble. Not to mention body armor gas masks hazmat suits as well. I can’t possibly mention everything but, theres always something else to get. More than likely though electronic devices will be useless in the event of a grid take down. Good luck yall.

Another effective and cheap step is have a few rolls of duct tape and chicken wire. Duct tape inside across your windows and/or chicken wire secured across them inside your home makes it much harder for intruders to break a window to get in. Both are quick to install in a pinch, but add alot of time and noise to someone trying to get in. Gives you time to react.

My newest prep Oupes 2250/500 solar system. With rechargeable lanterns. Runs small microwave and rechargeable batteries for radios. When fuel runs out I have options.

Add concertina wire/ razor wire to your preps to go around your property and camouflage some of it on your property if possible. If possible dig foxholes with overhead cover.

I'm unsure about these modern camera systems. Old school CCTV's that aren't networked seem like a better idea. Yeah, the con is you cannot view your cameras when you are away, but with modern cyber attacks, anything networked can be hacked.

I agree with all this, however, if you're bugging in during SHTF, you have to assume power and internet will go out. This renders cameras, alarms, lighting, useless. These should be two videos. One target hardening your home during normal times, and target hardening your home during a SHTF.

IP cameras that utilize the internet and POE (Power over ethernet) are not going to work when the Internet goes down. You're going to wish you had installed hard-wired cameras with the cabling running back to a switch, DVR, or at least a monitor so you can see what's happening around your property.

You need a proper metal gun safe/cabinet. A wooden structure is subpar.

I disagree on two points. 1. If you are building outdoor fortifications you better hope you are the one sitting in it because you just gave an enemy a fortified position. 2. When I see 'No Trespassing' signs I immediately think they have something of value to protect

You are the expert but may I suggest that you replace the condiments on your storage shelves with food..

If I was looking for a target, gates and all that says target and will draw attention and nothing is unbreakable with determination. Best to hide your defenses like carrying concealed over open carry. CQB is suddenness, surprise, and violence, which will have the best bet of fighting off an attack, but even better is being passed over as not worth it in the first place.

Those canned goods need to be rotated out every couple of years. I opened and heated some cans of chili, stew, soup, etc. that were several years old. Not good.

Have a fence around your house lot, including the front yard. Put in the sturdiest and highest kind kind of fence your HOA and/or town rules allow. A disorganized mob of angry, protesting citizens marching through a neighborhood will not usually climb a fence -- they will trespass onto non-fenced yards. Even a waist high, vinyl, picket fence is better than no fence at all. Have gates in that fence that can be locked, including the front gate to the walkway that goes to your front door. The beauty of the fence, from a legal standpoint, is it clearly marks the boundaries of your house lot and separates private property from public space. In the U.S., anyone is allowed to walk on a public sidewalk and shout to their heart's content, but trespassing on private property is not allowed under U.S. law. There is no plausible claim, later in court, of mistaken or accidental trespass if the boundaries of your house lot are marked with a fence and gates. If there is a disturbance in the neighborhood or reason to believe there will be nighttime trespass, lock your gates with pad locks. This prevents someone later claiming the gate was open or unlocked and they "innocently" came to your front door without evil intent. Make it clear to the judge and jury, when you are tried for shooting an intruder who managed to get a hand or foot through a window or over the threshold of your door, that the intruder deliberately came over your fence and locked gate to get onto your private property. This will help prove that the intruder had evil intent and that you were justified in protecting the people in your household from harm by a criminal. Even the most stupid member of the jury can understand than innocent, law abiding citizens to not climb over fences and locked gates to trespass on private property.

You have a good setup lucky you have the resources to do it. But to much reliant on tech if their is an EMP none of it will work.
