I first saw this tent on Corporals Corner channel and I really liked the looks so I bought it. I tested it with a water hose and nozzle spraying seams and found it to be waterproof. As far as holding it up I use a ridgeline to hold the tent upright and if you have trekking poles you can use those for the awning. The mosquito net is a huge plus for me here in the southeast. For one person there is plenty of room and honestly could fit two if your okay with putting your gear in the awning and just pulling it down if its going to rain or snow. This is a great design for a tent.
In my opinion, 22lr bullets will be the last around. Although there was once a shortage, they've returned and are still flying off the shelves. So, I'd imagine people have more 22lr than they do other rounds just because you get more for the money. The 22 will balance out your ammo storage, preventing you from going through your significant calibers - especially for small game hunting. It's a great video, and I agree with you 100%.
I love my 10/22, but sometimes I wonder if I might rather have my .308 in a survival situation. The reason being that I can take small game with traps and snares or even with a survival bow that I can make with a hatchet, but it's much harder to take a deer with traps or hastily-made bows or with a .22. One round of .308 can get me a whole lot of meat--the nine rounds I keep on my deer rifle could feed me for a year or so--or multiple years if I go after elk. Yet I never hear big game rifles discussed as an option for survival rifles, and I wonder why that is. I'd be really curious to get people's thoughts on that.
I had to watch. I have a 10/22. Not bad. I’m not sold on a .22 being the ultimate survival rifle. Don’t get me wrong. It has its place. I personally carry a ar, I do carry a.22 conversion and mag on my scabbard. That covers nearly everything you will need.
So many shooters under estimate a 22LR.(Good for Small game and plinking) I have taken up to 400lbs cattle, and big game with it. If you can hit something big at under 50 yds behind the ear, between the eyes, it will be dead. Anyone that hunts, nows 50 yds is about the average distance most big game are hunted. Ok, Plains game or accross the canyon, to far. Most wooden cover close enough. In human threatenig situation. You don't blast away like in the moovies. If you bring down just 1 with 1 accurate shot. Likelly they will stop, not rush you, and you can pick some more before they make you, and likelly retreat. They are not trained Marines nor profesional cartel hitmen. To much movies and video games. If allowed, a Muffler raises yout odds 100%. Game doesn't care after it's down. Many, Many game will just stand there if you miss. trying to figure out what's going on
I owned many 10/22’s over the years, and only had one that was totally reliable. I bought a Winchester Wildcat 22 semi-auto, and it’s been incredible. To break it down, you just push the button at the rear of the receiver and the action drops down similar to a AK-47/74 magazine without any small pins holding it in. I put approximately 1,500 rounds through it, and haven’t had any issues. Its accuracy is great, and the weight is around 4 lbs. My local Gun shop is selling them for $248 for the 18” model, and $262 for the 16.5” with a threaded barrel. The only reason the 10/22 would make sense to me anymore is the ability to replace the parts. Otherwise, I prefer the Wildcat. I love my Tippman too.
A good thing to do w/ that trailer is give it a plywood floor, the expanded metal on those is a bit thin and won't hold up well to concentrated weight like a full ammo can. Ask me how I know :)
I did the same a few months. Swapped my tarp setup for a tent. I went with the Litefighter Fido 1 AI kit, as it is a 4 season with the windbreaker fly. This way, I'll be equipped for all four seasons. Another thing that sold me on it was the openings on both sides for better airflow in the summertime. With a bit of Googling, I found two big advantages your tent has over mine. Firstly, cost, with it being less than a 1/4 of what I paid for mine. Secondly, weight. Yours weighs less than half of mine.
Very cool and perfect timing! I've been trying to decide on a new sleeping bag and a tent for camping. I really like the way that tent is designed. The two way radios are cool, but if I get them; do I need any kind of subscription to use them?
My first gun other than the 20 gauge Stevens pump that my Dad gave me as a young man was a Chines Tokarev in 7.62x25. The second was a Chinese SKS. I was needing to keep cost down... I wish I'd have kept that SKS... I do have another one now bc I love me some SKS.
I think a .357 Mag lever carbine would be better - paired with a revolver. The .22LR is a great round but the .357 Mag can use .38 Special as well which makes it very very versatile. A .22LR requires a good head shot to take a deer, the .37 Mag will allow for normal heart/lung shots at a longer distance. Not to mention the impact on 2 legged targets... love the .22LR - don't get me wrong - you can pack a Kel-tec P17 and a lot of ammo for very little weight to give you more options and shots...
Thing is, when we tell people to prepare, they laugh and think we are crazy. Then when things hit the fan, they want to come and beg. I am not a cold-hearted person, but I told you to start getting things little by little. Here's a bottle of water and a box of saltines....good luck.
There is only one real survival rifle. The one you can use. Period I am right every one is wrong. I am tired of the bull 💩. At the end it is the one you have, you can use , afford . I am kidding about the bull 💩 . Just trying to get people to think about this It may save your life some day.
I love my 22lr but i usually step up to a 22mag just because the ammo is more durable and stores better. 22lr bullets arent sealed as well due to the way the bullet is crimped in. and i havent seen em for a while but 22mag subs wete available for a while from winchester i assume they will be availabe again.
I actually love my 10/22 but I personally found out last winter that when my fingers got so numb from the cold and wind that I couldn’t load it and it’s was so hard to remove with frozen fingers , but I was able to load my marlin 60 with the tube feed , it also holds more than the 10/22 unless I’m using my 25 round clip , but my 60 will hold 18 with no buying a $4o 10/22 magazine
I'm not a hater- I have the same gear, the police will take you out boss ! Why ? Have you ever been told how to do your job !? Exactly. The narcissistic authorities ( alpha males ) will see you as more of a threat than any gangs or groups ( b.l.m. ) ( l.g.b.t.q.+2+7- or whatever ) . I recommend not to play Mr. dress up until they are one step over your humble threshold. Then self-defense rules apply. Cheers
Though owner of several calibers, I keep my red dot sighted 10/22 loaded with Aguila Interceptor 40 grain. The only 22LR that I need ear protection for.
I have several .22lr rifles and pistols . I think they are my favorite guns. I’ve had and hunted with .22s since I was too young to drive. Now I’m 75. That’s a lot of little bullets down range. Having seen what they do to fat woodchucks, I most assuredly would not enjoy getting shot with one.
Yep. Enjoyed the video. Got my first one in '75 with paper route money. Would anybody agree that changing the magazine latch to the lever style was a mistake for Ruger? Maybe good for a combat rifle, so you can drop the mag. But it doesn't work as smooth with 10 round mags. The old style you depress with your thumb, and can pull out faster. Any size mag. I would recommend 10 round mags for hunting because the rifle is that much easier to handle. 👍
For a get-home bag, a 22 rifle is all you need for a long gun, as its primary purpose is food procurement. For personal defense I am usually already carrying my 9mm pistol. If you're in a situation where you need a rifle, you're not doing it properly in a get-home situation. That being, keeping a low profile, and avoiding as much human interaction as possible. For my 10/22 setup, I prefer the 10/22 Takedown with a barrel mounted scout scope so it can be stowed away to attract less attention. I'm in the process of building a Tactical Solutions 10/22 takedown with a Burris 3-12x32 handgun scope mounted on the barrel using optic mounts from Fletcher Rifle Works. It'll be nestled comfortably into what I believe is the absolute best stock for the takedown. The venerable Magpul backpacker stock.
Love my 10-22! I have the takedown model with the stainless-steel barrel. Great for PNW weather! I put Magpul furniture on it with a red dot that all clips together and will fit in the inside pouch of my backpack. Just over 19" when broken down. I bought four 25 round mags before our stupid 10 round mag ban took effect in Washington... This will be my sons first gun when he's old enough too!
You can have a 5.56, 308, 30-06, or any other caliber, but the 22cal is the only one you can put 500rds in your pocket and still run like hell. It also allows you to take what you need from the bad guy.
I have a tiny bedroom I converted into a small pantry several years ago and have been slowly building it up. Yes, I have talked to people until I am blue in the face. They WILL NOT LISTEN! In the times that are coming we need much faith. I am Catholic and some of the very credible mystics have been receiving messages from heaven about getting prepared and what is coming. If we share, even a little, God will multiply what we have like the fish and the loaves. But it’s imperative we have faith and trust. People actually get angry with me if I mention getting together a few things to try and be somewhat prepared. They are TERRIFIED. So here we go, I live in Fla. and there are Russian ships and a Russian nuclear sub docked in Cuba just 90 miles from Fla. This war is going to take place, we have been instructed by heaven to pray for it to be mitigated. I can hardly get anyone just to get a bottles of WATER! They make me crazy. Yes, I will share but it annoys the fart out of me as we warn people and they turn their heads. Oh my gosh. 😳 Pray and trust. God Bless! 💕🙏😇
I like your mindset on comfort. Roughing it when you're already stressed is only going to make you that much more stressed. People forget that. Imagine how your day goes in normal life when you're sleep deprived and hungry, now imagine in a really crazy shtf way.
