Thank you, Captain! I already bought mjx b 19 eis with your advice. Tried it for several times. And then bought DJI Air. But MJX drones helped me to understand, what abilities of the drone I need. So you are right, that these drones are for the beginners. Or the training. I gave my MJX drones to my daughter - now she is practicing in flights. And once again - thank you for the great overview! Good flights to you. Hello from Russia! ;)
Finally a gimbal on mjx drone..and it's 3 axis gimbal..it's the best mjx drone to date (of course it's new)..but i think the drone and fpv range let's it down, no upgrade from the older mjx drones..even bugs 2 and bugs 4 has longer range..
I seem to have the worst timing when buying drones. That drone flies really stable, and I think the camera beats the F11 4K Pro's camera, aside from the fisheye (which I guess is removable through video editing). Thank you for another solid review Captain!
As far as F11 goes, beyond that, does it fly well? I'm considering purchasing one. On the other hand, I just got THIS drone (Bugs 16 Pro,and fixing to take it outside for its first flight here shortly.
@@kyleellis7505 TL,DR: It flies very well minus a few gripes and inconsistencies. Surprising good video transmission. So and so video quality, you get what you pay for. Awesome flight time, I rarely fly until low battery warning. If you're reading this far, I'm going into more detail. Very much anecdotal evidence and not representative of the base performance, but I share what I can. I'll separate the sections and I hope Captain doesn't mind me filling up the comment section of his video. Big Issues: The remote doesn't show distance and speed, so you're relying completely on your phone with the App to maintain a connection. If you lose connection, no telemetry data. Lighting for status indication is not clear, especially under sun light, MJX's screens work better. No rate adjustment for yaw, pitch and tilt. If you run through the training exercises, orbit manually is a pain as the drone's yaw rate is too high (might be an issue with only mine though, bear that in mind). The battery takes 4-5 hours to charge at 1.8 to 2A, so a lot of preplanning, and micro-USB charging port. Minor Gripes: While the GPS lock is quick (set up is very fast), and when stationary, holds position well even in wind. When moving especially in slower, more precise movements, the drone doesn't really compensate against the wind. Example: I inch it forward (slight input on forward movement), the wind blows from the left, the drone tends to move diagonally in that direction instead of compensating for the wind's horizontal movement (unlike my experience with the Bugs 4W). The remote tends to lose connection more than the video transmission (again, might be specific to my unit, and the phone I'm using is a Samsung S8). Lastly, when it initiates a return to home due to lost connection with the remote, it turns to face the home point's direction, start to move, and instead of simply following through with the process, once connection is regained, the drone immediately stops and you regain control (in comparison, you have to manually cancel the process in the Bugs 4W). This can be fine, however, most situations leave the drone continuously disconnecting and reconnecting, so it just spins in place (note that I maintain LOS, so I can see this happen in real time), until I turn off the remote. Then as it gets ready for landing, I turn the remote back on and regain control properly. The Good: It really flies well, and while doing the training exercises, it's really fun making figure 8s in the sky while maintaining quite a bit of the momentum. I found following through with a turn (with a yaw and tilt input) to be smoother with this drone, so a really good flight controller in that sense. The camera while not as good as a Mavic, is really a step up from the Bugs 4W, the gimbal and EIS work very well, lots of usable footage, even with the lacking quality. Transmission range (when it works) is really stable and I've pushed the drone further than I'm comfortable with (tiny dot in the sky) while still being able to maintain video and control (500+ meters far, 70+ meters high, with trees and power lines in between). The flight time is far longer than my Bugs 4W as well, I usually stop before any low battery warning (with 2 batteries, my average flight time is 18-20 minutes per battery based on my flight records). The folding feature is nice as well, with a very compact carrying case (basically reiterating what Captain covered in his review).
*MJX is back!!!* Thats a really beautiful drone Steve! Its really long and looks awesome just like a rod when folded... I am surprised that this superb monster costs 4 times less than my Mini 2...lol The bigger it is the cooler it will be!!!
i must say...this one is pretty sweet..... decent amount of quality..... way way better then those SG drones....im really impressed...especially hot it handles the wind.....from watching all your drone reviews i can tell that Bugs are the golden middle standard.....just awesome !!
I think it's the first drone in this price category in which I like the camera .... it's not at the mini 2 level or fimi mini but it's not far.Goood job Mjx. Have a nice wekeend Captain!
Thanks for the discount code. I was able to get a little over US$20 discount. Really appreciate your reviews, it helps me a lot to find something that would work for me. Looking forward to more of your reviews in the future.
Just watched this video. Great job with the full description, and details. Well full as far as I need to see. A good Facebook friend sent me out one of these in the mail today. He sent this link for me to watch. Now I know what to expect. He said he couldn't find the manual. I didn't mind a bit. I could get a pdf if I needed it. I'm getting this for $75. It's in great shape. I told him that I didn't have much money, and asked if he had one laying around that I could buy. Really nice of him. I never had a drone with a gimbal, or to control the camera from the transmitter and zoom? All new to me. I live at the waterfront of Marine City Michigan. A short hip across the water is Canada. I won't be flying in that direction. If I had a drone registered, can I use the same registration number? I believe it's supposed to be registered because of it's weight. I need to find out how to find my registration number again. I got it when it was free. I'll have to check online under something. Can't wait to get this. Thanks for a great review. Liked and subscribed!
Hello. Enjoy the drone! If you can’t locate the registration number, then use the number you see on your phone when you search for the wifi signal from the drone (that is the identifying number).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I never knew that. I greatly appreciate the help. It's a pleasure to hear from you personally. I'll check back in a few days and let you know how it went. I know it's worth getting thanks to such a great review that you did here. Best wishes to you and yours.
nice review. it is nice to see better products from bugz. looks like this one is a Mavic Mini killer? but the video looks cloudy but definitely stable than old bugs.
reminded me of my bugs 3 thats sitting around here in parts because they didnt want to sell me an esc. they wuld have fixed it free if i paid $30 shipping. I thought I could find one online and found plenty the right size but not from the same manufacturer but then I wouldnt trust just buying one and having an oddball esc. I love that drone. It had the most basic of Gyro so I could pull off flips with it although not the easiest to fly, I crashed into myself a couple of times, once right into my hand on a below freezing day and I ont have to tell you about that kind of pain, YEOUCH!!!
Another contender for the price ....... so many to choose from and a real steal with the 3 axis gimbal ....... I’ll stick with my F11 4K pro and having so much fun with it ....... then move onto the DJI mavic 2 or even the 3 if it comes out ....... however these entry level drones are absolute quality for the price and this is up there with them ..... well done MJX you have a winner here 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 ....... excellent video as ever Steve keep up the great work mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It seems that they have really upped the budget drone game compared to 2 years ago. It really seens decent and the gimbal is always a good addon :) thanks Cap.
Hi Steve, I've been watching a lot of drone videos as I'm new to the hobby and I have to say yours are the most informative and impartial. After watching this video I've taken the plunge and got the Bugs 16 pro. Absolutely blown away how good it is and easy to fly. Obviously I have now subscribed to your channel. So pleased with the purchase and your reviews. Many thanks and keep up the entertaining videos.
Thanks for the video! BIG QUESTION: Does this have the no fly zones in the app - either just the Warning OR the "no-go-unless-you-are-authorized-sign-in-etc" versions of this ...ummm...feature? Also, do you consider the App for this drone VERY reliable? Thanks again.
Hi mate, I spent a good time watching your videos about the best budget drone... I’m about to buy but I’m in doubt what one should I pick. Mainly I will use it to record videos and take pictures of my Jeep’s... what model you personally recommend? Bugs 16 pro or KF101???? Cheers
Really nice drone, always liked my Bugs drones. This is the very first MJX Bugs to have a 3 axis gimbal. I have the Bugs B20 EIS. Now will have to get this 16 PRO. Great drone and video Steve. 👍👍👍😊
Johnny come lately, When everyone shifted 3-axis gimbal, 4k-60fps , and 33-mins. of air time or more features that Dji could imagine. Bugs 16 pro seem to come too late the battle is much over. Their smallest competitors are walking by. The closest competitors like Hubsan zinos , and Potensic, are two steps ahead.
I was going to ask about range, but you answered it. Idaho Quadcopter reviewed it and he couldn't get past 200 without a disconnect. Yours is the 3rd review I watched and his is the only one that had that issue.
Range all depends on your phone wifi antenna... where is located in your phone and how good is it. Now if you don’t use your phone and fly it using just the remote you can probably get 1000 meter range.
Hey Captain and thanks for all you do. I just picked up a hs720E not long ago and for the most part it's very nice. The price of it is approximately the same as the B16Pro. The only complaint is the camera not having a gimbal. I'm still in the time frame where I can send it back. Do you think the B16Pro is the better drone?
You’ll rarely hear me say best drone in reviews, unless there is a best in a category, even then “best” is not used too often (I have to be WoW’d”). But for a budget drone this one is easily best in class in the wind and providing stable video.
IS THE CAMERA QUALITY BETTER ON THIS DRONE THAN THE HOLYSTONE 720E ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW SIR... AND WHICH ONE WOULD YOU PREFER ? I WANT OT BUY BUT DONT KNOW WHICH ONE TO BUY FROM THIS ONE AND THE HOLYSTONE 720E.....
One of the good drones after DJI with this price range. Bad side is signal can be lost about 400-500 meters but controller range is about 1 km maximum. Video quality can be count good for 4K level but not very good like DJI drones. Material quality is nice even if i had many crash there is still no serious damage.. App side not good but makes your job for short video edits..
nice review... this model already on my list.will get it soon... tq for sharing your knowledge and information... will always support your video captain
I was really impressed with the old bugs 4 w 4k the only thing that needed was a 3 axis gimbal, but now I'm really impressed with the 16 I must get one .. great video 👍
This looks like an excellent beginner drone or trainer drone. I do look forward to the day when physical calibrations are no longer needed before every flight on these sub $300 drones and connect via cable to a phone or tablet like the higher end drones do.
Hello capitán,I’m having trouble with the zoom, I have a bugs 16 pro and I use a cell phone apple 14 pro , but I touch te zoom and it doesn’t seem to work
Hi, Flight Time is about 28 minutes per battery . How much is the additional battery? And where would you suggest to purchase for the best price? Always the best,
Great review packed with valuable info. I bought the Bugs 16 Pro and love it. Only thing is the horizontal on my gimble is out of adjustment and I can't seem to find how to readjust. The camera calibration only affects vertical from what I see. Do you know of a way to recalibrate the horizontal camera alignment?
It could be a GYRO issue. Not sure if this will work, but give it a try. Power on your bugs and place it on a flat LEVEL surface. Next take your controller and pull both joysticks down and to the lower left. If you seel lights flashing on the arms super fast that means the gyro is resetting itself to zero and it may help your gimbal if you do the same thing before taking off outdoors.
Thank you very much for the info and quick response Captain! It turned out that I reset it to factory default and somehow during this I stumbled upon a gimble adjustment I didn't see before. I don't know if factory default had anything to do with it or not but now I'm good to go. Thanks!
I just ordered mine today. I wanted to catch it while it was still on sale. I couldn't decide if I wanted it or a phantom 3 which was used, had to get this and I can't wait for it to arrive.
I owned a Vivitar Phoenix before which is basically an mjx mew4-1. I calibrated my GPS with nose down and nose up. I never seen a difference it flew good both ways idk if it even matters lol. But I did wonder that because I seen people doing it both ways and I'm sitting here like which ways the right way.
Hi Steve. Great review, as usual. Nice drone. It was released just after I ordered my Bugs 12 which is a pity as , after flying my drone now for a month or so, and getting more used to it, I’m really noticing the lack of a gimbal, even in quite still an. The EIS does a good job (great job actually), but I’d really like the smoothness of the gimbal. Sorry, ranting. The reason I’m here is to ask about the file size of the 4 K file on the SD card. Mine seems to break each file at 5 minutes. I’ve seen pro gear do that in the early days but not for a long time. Are you aware if this limitation or is it something I’m doing that’s not correct. I’ve not changed any settings. Thanks for your advice. Great work.
Yes that is normal for most drones on the market because the cameras in them (even the expensive DJI drones) are not pro cameras, they are more like a GoPro camera so they chop up the recording into smaller files.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks Steve. Thought that may be the case. Is it a heat issue like what used to be with the early DSLR cameras when used fur video? Thanks again for your reply.
Bugs 19 is finally on sale and I have been waiting for it's release before thinking of buying either the 16 or 19. Really surprised that the 19 is cheaper than the 16. On sale on banggood. Looking forward to RU-vid views on the bugs 19 so then I can make my mind up on buying. Keep up the good work and I really injoy watching your videos.
Have you had experience buying from Banggood.? I’m wondering how they are to deal with in the event something is wrong or defective with the product. 🤟🏼
@@Jimmy_Cavallo I had a problem with a drone from Aliexpress and had to send it back which cost me like 25 pounds and took 3 months before they refunded me. Everything I've brought from banggood I've never had a problem with.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Is the video quality much better then what I am seeing in your MJX bugs 16 pro review...if recorded on a mini SD card? It looks pretty blurry in your review flying part.
Is it really a good drone Steve? How about the compass issue, did you face any problem at all? Mine crashed on the 4th flight, toilet bowled! How about the controller constant disconnection and laggy FPV video feed?
Toilet bowl is the sign of a poor compass calibration. Laggy FPV is the sign of a cell phone that has a poor video chip. These drones are configured to work correctly, but if you do a poor compass calibration, it does not know and will accept it and then Mr. Toilet bowl starts.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I agreed with the compass calibration part. The drone itself will not able to take off if the compass and gyro calibrations are not performed before the flight. Laggy FPV in my opinion could be due to poor software design. I used the same phone with SJRC F11 4K Pro without any issue after several updates for the last month or so. The app developer for SJRC managed to correct the laggy FPV issue for this drone. Check out my Bugs 16 Pro crash video and your opinion is appreciated: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nbDczcRPUlY.html
Hi Steve a question? I'm learning with a little snaptain sp500 and I'm getting the hang of it. My question is going back to my bugs 16, if I set way points on the map, say I set way points to around 300 metres (ish) if it loses signal to the phone, will it RTH or will it go about its business as it will still be connected to the controller. Can't find no info on it. I know you are a busy guy, cheers garry
Captain, this video is also interesting as always! Will you also do some polls related to drones and other stuff on your community tab? It would be nice!
Hey Cap wish I could swap some of your cold air for some of my warm one lol. Love that drone hopefully the price won’t hurt me dwl. Keep them coming Cap
Glad you do all these reviews. I know not every drone is perfect. And even within the same model there can be "Lemons" --- but I am going to give this one a try.
It seems to me that there are some problems with the camera. The drone video lacks sharpness and contrast. The picture is as if in a light fog. Just watched your video from F11 4K Pro. The video from the F11 seemed to me better than that of the B16Pro. Maybe I'm wrong.
I have the SG906 PRO2. First drone hoping to move up. I am getting ready to do Real Estate videos and feel like it is not the greatest when it comes to image. The Bugs 16Pro looks nice a images look pretty decent. Finances are limited but I need a budget drone with the BEST image possible and preferably 60fps for video. Any thoughts and direction to take??
The only drones I recommend to realtors are the MINI drones for obvious reasons (portable, great cameras, fly indoor or outdoor, quiet, reliable). Have a look at the DJI Mini SE for a start.
Thanks for that Steve. My DJI is set to 50 so will reduce to 35. Reason I asked is if on a low battery warning and self returns to home worried that drone lifting to 50 meters the battery could die while returning.
don't know if you have seen this yet but there is a new Chinese obstacle avoidance drone without that thing on top like the 906. it is a Zhuoyou F30 drone. can you look it up and do a video about it. it comes in around 328 USD 45 min flight time 8K dual sony based 3 axis camera. looks interesting would like your opinion. wind is rated at 7. hope to hear from you about this thing
I have been searching for budget friendly drones with good camera quality, i must admit i came across a lot with nice flight time and features but the cameras are normally not something to bluff with. I guess i just found an entry drone with a quality worth something to write home about
Hi got this on your review and it’s awesome just charged it that was a bit of a drag ,done the legal bit here in the uk 🇬🇧 so I can use it £9 for a operators card last 1 year , flyer card was free for 5 years so I’m ready to fly now just waiting for free time and the weather thanks again for your review
@@jsrides2065 Also, can ypu tell us if the flippable antennas of the controller are fake? Seem fake to me, plain plastic no antennas inside both of them...
Great review 👍 I've pretty much watched every video on it and you explain things better. I'm a complete beginner and think this is perfect for me and my other hobby to get extra footage
Definitely 👌 I watch a lot of your videos. Can't find anything on controlling one. A birds eye view of the controller and a video of the drone movement would be great
Captain Drone...Excellent review as always...quick question, when you did the waypoints how does the drone do that without internet connection to the map?
It's very impressive for the money, bugs make good drones, bugs 4 w still might favourite just loved it house brick design, but that one looks an accurate lander.
How do you think this compares to the Holy Stone HS720e that you reviewed on another video? Does the gimbal really help? Are you having issues with a tilted horizon on the MJX B16?
Captain Drone, you're the best on drones. So, which drone has better camera and more features between this Bugs 16 Pro and F11 Pro 4k. Does it record 4k 30fps on SD card?
He stated it does record 4K video at 30p on the SD card. F11 has a 2 axis gimbal with EIS, while Bugs 16 Pro has a 3 axis gimbal with EIS. The video shown in this review from the Bugs 16 Pro looks quite good. F11 Pro claims 300-500 m range, while the Bugs 16 Pro claims "over 600 m". Bugs 16 pro looks like it is less expensive from the Banggood site with the current promotion (19% discount)
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 wow, thanks a lot Captain Drone, I've watched this video three times now 😂 plus the ads. Your review and drone footage from SD card is great and will help me make a decision on this drone. I'm gonna be a first time drone flyer, wish me luck 😂😂😂
maan i was about to finalize my purchase on eachine ex4 pro then i saw this im having difficulty choosing personally in your onpinion which is the better drone? ex4 pro has the range bugs 16 pro has the better frames
