Given how little they regard the lives of other Grumpuses in general, I gotta say "That...was regrettable" is honestly a lot of emotion coming from Floofty
@@ricardomarin459 I don't think they've actually eaten other Grumpeses, the line where they confirmed that they have taken a bite out of "a" Grumpus was referring to them making a chomp into their severed leg
Shelda when Floofty dies: You didn't deserve this this, even after everything you've done, you still deserved a chance at redemption. Floofty when Shelda dies: Well, fuck. Big oof.
You always made sure to cut and thoroughly chew your food. That is, assuming you had the will to even eat it in the first place. It's been two months since the day you escaped the sugar coated darkness of Snaktooth Island. But it wasn't without its casualties. Every night you stayed up for hours, racking your brain, trying to think about what you could have done differently, what measures to take, what could have been. In those few hours where you could sleep, they're rarely peaceful. The final, hopeless words of the townsfolk as they succumb to the will of the parasitic Bugsnax echo through your nightmares. The imagery of there eyes glazing over as their mutated body parts fall off them with sickening pops. The anguished cries of their friends and loved ones... You can still taste their ashes on your tongue. Tonight you couldn't get sleep at all. You spent it sitting on the beach you landed on since your escape. Remembering your conversation with Filbo. You told him that you both had to move on. Looking back now, you laugh at how hypocritical that was. There isn't a day where you wished you could do it all over again. You were so lost in thought you barely heard the footsteps in the sand. "Hey, bud." Filbo greeted. "I almost mistook you for driftwood for a moment!" You glance at the blue furred Grumpus. You marvel at how he can still joke and smile after all you both been through. But then again, he didn't watch his friends die because he failed to place a trap properly. "It's not exactly breakfast material, but I saved that burger I got you last night." He hands you the crinkled wrapper containing the meal. You open it to see it's cut in half. During your interview with the eccentric researcher Floofty, you discovered that Bugsnax are reduced to harmless goo when either cooked or cut in any way. And in your next discovery, you find out these endearing food creatures are in fact deadly Parasites. Even with your fortunate allergy to the Bugsnax, you couldn't bring yourself to eat without taking precautions. For all you knew, some of those things could have stowed away on the airship. Filbo has seen and understood your nervous habit, and you appreciate him even more for that. Even cut up, the burger reminded you of the Bunger, one of the Bugsnax that attacked you during your attempt to flee with the survivors. The pained bellows of the beasts as they boiled alive rang fresh in your mind. "Hey, remember when we first seen a Bunger?" Filbo recalled. You did. You watched Wambus pelt Filbo with ketchup, and the Bugsnax to run up and bump your friend clear across town! Of course, you had your fair share of Bunger mischief as well. You stifle a laugh. Even though the Island was a death trap waiting to spring, you'll admit you had a ton of fun while it lasted. "I know you were only trying to help me move on back then." Filbo said after a while. "I mean, it took a while, with everything that happened to the townsfolk and Liz and Egg...but I did. Eventually." "But then I saw how you were handling it." The Grumpus turns to you. "This is clearly eating away at you more than any Parasite-Food-Bug-Thing ever could." -> *I feel like this is all my fault* *I could have done better...* "No one's without their faults, buddy." Filbo replies. "I have mine, the townsfolk, and Liz. After all, We're only Grumpus." Only Grumpus. You thought about that for a moment. "You know what else Grumpuses can do?" Filbo added. "They help each other. Carry one another's burden." He gives you a reassuring smile. "Let's try and share the load, okay?" You smile back in agreement. But before that... You look down at your still warm burger. You take a bite. Then another.
Are...Are you just...writing these to put them on here? I'm honored. Do you post these somewhere? These are phenomenal. I'd read an entire series of these oneshots, they are sorely lacking in this fandom.

personally, i really love the difference in snorpy and chandlo's reaction - it highlights a lot what kind of person they are, and factors plenty into their narratives. chandlo blames himself, constantly - he doesn't think he's buff enough, good enough, able enough to help snorpy, and when all of his fears are realized as snorpy dies, he shatters, breaking into a loud, mournful yell. he even breaks character, for a moment, dropping 'snorp-dawg' in favor of truly mourning the man he loves for who he is. snorpy's always wrapped up in his own world, always preoccupied with one thing or a next, hardly ever able to tell what's directly in front of him. so when the one he's devoted all his work to protecting, when the man he loves dies, he can't fully comprehend it. he knows something gut-wrenchingly horrible has happened, but his brain is too busy to truly wail as he likely felt like doing. idk, i just really liked the difference, the attention to detail. they're both shocked and put to grief, but in their own ways, that adapt to the situation and still sound heartbroken and similar and short enough to highlight the panic of the scene and yet show their bond. man idk i havent gotten to see their character arc cutscenes and quests i just rlly liked it tangent over
Everyone in the comments making fun of Floofty for their underwhelming reaction, but I feel for them. Everyone mourns differently and for me it takes a long time for it to set it in that somebody died and for me to actually cry. I'm not sure if Floofty would actually miss Shelda but they would probably be upset that they could have prevented it and watching someone die in front of you would probably be traumatizing on some level.
Plus, you’d have to be really fucking misanthropic to see someone die in front of you so gruesomely and truly not care. Floofty’s reaction stuck to me as “that was really disturbing” more than not caring that Shelda died.
something people oftentimes forget about floofty is that they are not a bad person. they never once intentionally, without explicit permission, harmed anybody else. they made jokes about it, yes, but they also let everyone think they ate a whole guy when they just nibbled a leg. they clearly dont do well with emotions, and its no surprise that they didnt freak out and cry when shelda died. personally, i feel like their mourning would be long, and drawn out. analyzing what went wrong, what would have happened had something gone right. not everybody mourns loudly
which does make sense when you think about their personality. snorpy spends a lot of time in his head and detached from the real world, so when he sees something so drastic happen it probably doesnt really register at first
At the end at the beach, when you talk to Snorpy, it feels a lot more sad- what I think happened is that he didn’t fully feel the gravity of the situation, and had since realized that he would never see Chandlo again- a friend forever, and a lover for just a day.
Am I here just to analyze the death reactions to Grumpus(s) in the funny bunger game? *Yes.* I wanna talk about Shelda and Floofty, and how they parallel each other. Floofty is seen thinking only in a logical sense, even when they were trying to cut off their own head in their final side-quest! Floofty thinks not of morals or what's right or wrong, they just think of facts and evidence. Shelda is their opposite, it literally says she hates Floofty on the Bugsnax wiki if you look at her Relationships! Shelda being a 'prophet' and doesn't eat Bugsnax at all until you get to her side-quests where you put Bugsnax in her 'Box of Purity'. After the player just tells her to drop the act in her final side-quest, she does and she explains that she acts the way she does because she believed nobody would listen to her if she didn't have some powerful and almighty knowledge. Now to the death reactions. It makes sense for Floofty to barely react not so emotionally, as we've seen them barely react in such a way the whole game. BUT. You can tell they're upset, that MAYBE they could've done something different to stop Shelda from dying, that MAYBE they could've saved her, and that MAYBE if they just had pushed a little more, then maybe they could've saved her. But they didn't, so yes. In their terms "*That was regrettable.*" Now for Shelda, as I've stated before Shelda hates Floofty. And refused to fight the Bugsnax in the final battle, having Floofty do it and claiming she can't due to her old age. But when Floofty dies, it's clear there's a bit of regret in her voice. Shelda despises Floofty, and yet she still mourns the poor enby's death. And despite how morbid and awful their experiments are, and despite how they will disregard a person's safety all in the name of science. In Shelda's terms, yes, "*Not even you [Floofty] deserved that.*" okay I'm tired, might do the other death reactions later.
Shelda, Snorpy, Chandlo, and Gramble: Shocked Cromdo, Beffica, and Wiggle: Depressed Wambus: Shocked then depressed Floofty: "Welp... that didn't go well." Triffany: "Wambus you baka!" Triffany's took awhile to sink in (or it might not have because a part of me is still confused) because I was expecting something akin to the others' responses (except Floofty's, they're the only one that makes that response work in context), but instead of that she berates her husband that died in front of her. I guess when your emotions are haywire from a traumatic event, who knows what your immediate reaction would be? I'm not 100% sure, but this is the best I got. Also Flootfy's nonchalant delivery makes it difficult for me not to chuckle a bit from how in character yet out of place it is.
I really like Triffany's little pause. She seems like she's about to break down, but then she just yells at him. Then she does have a more heartbroken reaction when you talk to her at the beach. It's natural for some people to be a little slower to react, or to keep in their feelings in the moment to then process them later after experiencing a traumatic event. It feels very real and in-character for her given her general demeanor and attitude towards...Well, even death itself. And I have to agree with you on Floofty. It was definitely a bit tone-breaking, but in the right way!
@@ViktoriaMagrey I think Triffany’s line for that is perfect since Wambus was refusing to let his garden go, he basically gets killed out of stubbornness, or arrogant dies due to his stubbornness. That might be why his lines sound more emotional.
Headcanon : Autistic floofty and autistic Snorpy where they are different is such ways that they cannot stand each other and yet can be similar in some aspects (special interests, the way they pose themselves- floofty with their elbow on their arm, and snorpy as the classic T Rex- unable to read social cues, and intuitive/observant) but snorpy is easily overloaded by sensory things, and floofty lives for them, fiddling with machines and constantly making stuff, even stuff like decapitating their own leg. They even both do stuff that is seen by others as weird, but to them make a lot of sense, because autistic minds word different than nuerotypicals (Floofty eating their own leg for science, and Snorpy making grumpinati traps and setting up alarm systems) When floofty sees Shelda die, perhaps they did feel a lot of pain- but could not express it, due to their poor communication skills. Snorpy may be a bit better, but his pain only shows more and more over time. It’s not that Floofty doesn’t care, or snorpy wasn’t in love, but that they are in so much pain that it couldn’t be described.
The contrast of Shelda and floofty’s reactions to the other dying does cracks me up, I mean shelda put so much emotion into it whilst floofty barely gives a fuck
Does Filbo say anything unique regarding how many people are left alive? For example, if it's only the player he says "Is this really everyone?! What happened?!" And so on, but is there other ones depending on how many of them are left alive?
He says the same line! However, there are _two_ recorded versions: Success High and Success Low. One sounds concerned, but otherwise normal, and Success Low is the one where he sounds the most upset.
thanks for posting all these great voice clips! (ones that may not want to be achieved in an actual playthrough lol... i wouldn't be able to willingly sacrifice these guys just to hear their voice lines)
Is no one gonna talk about Triffany and Wambus? These two have most likely been married for YEARS, imagine watching your husband/wife die right Infront of you? Wambus sounds completely shattered and Triffany sounds broken and even slightly angry, god thats sad.
Shelda: dang thats rough Floofty: woops my bad Beff: NOOOO- i mean haha rip bozo Cromdo: crap. whatever Snorpy: oh NOO Chandlo: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Wiggle: nooooo im gonna go cry now adios Gramble: no...................... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Wambus: may we take off our farmer hats and respecc Triffany: MAN FUCK YOU
Wait, really? Darn, that's actually really frustrating and now I can't unsee it. Thank you for spotting that. I will probably caption over it...And I actually checked it over quite a few times to avoid this happening? I probably hit CTRL+Z too many times at some point during editing... x,D
Quite on par for Floofty and Shelda. One is unable to bring forth strong emotion, but still reflects regret as best as they can, and the other still has sympathy for someone they originally never cared for.
Not at all. I wish so too, but he was kinda considered crucial to the game it seems. I guess it makes sense that he'd actually be the stabler one out of them in hindsight. He didn't even like bugsnax, and his issues are practically resolved by the main quest itself.
@@ViktoriaMagrey Exactly. Something I noticed was that Filbo had excellent self control. Maybe that’s why Lizbert elected him for mayor, because she knew who would be the last one alive.
I love the detail with Wambus and Triffany; Wambus is just absolutely broken, and the trailing emotion in his voice as the reality sets in after the initial shock. It's as if he's slumping down as he contemplates what just happened. Triffany, on the other hand, has her emotions overcome her, and she goes into regrettable anger. she (seemingly) doesn't know how to feel and instead lashes out in heat-of-the-moment rage at the only thing on her mind: her husband. As if she doesn't know how to handle what just happened.
Shelda: FLOOFTY!! Nem você mesma mereçeu isso :,( Floofty: isso foi... arrependivel Beffica: essa não! Cromdo... Cromdo: eu sinto muito, Beffinha... Snorpy: Chandlo! não! Chandlo: SNORPY!!! NÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wiggle: Gramble, meu amor... me desculpa. Gramble: Wiggle! porque? Porquê você tinha que ir? Wambus: Triffinha! não... isso... isso não pode ser! Triffany: Wambus! seu... seu idiota grande e burro!
I unlisted it. It was a bit...iffy. The new and updated video is already rendered. I just have to timestamp it and make sure nothing's awful with it, which it shouldn't be because it's gone through lots of edits hahaha- Don't worry, it's gonna be back soon.
@@sheepeyoutube Yeah, sorry about that! It's kinda hard to keep in touch like this. I'm gonna work on the upload for the Filbo video itself today and just schedule it for tomorrow morning. I also just finished a bite-sized video so hopefully that also makes up a bit for all the time doing that one's taken since my idea is for them to go up at around the same time - or maybe I'll upload today anyway, not sure. I'm just a little tired right now and it's usually not a good idea to post at night (time zones vary but I think most of my audience is from the western US and I only have a one-hour time difference from there anyway so I try to be mindful of that.)
1. To the first reply, that's kinda cringe 2. To the OP, nah. I think Floofty is meant to just be blunt. They say it like it is, which, in the case of Shelda, is regrettable
@@rootlebugsnax 1. i'm non-binary 2. i'm also an older sibling 3. i'm incredibly weird, but also misunderstood 4. i have a pretty similar personality to them 5. i enjoy science
It gets even Sadder if one Fizzlebean sibling lives and the other doesn't If Snorpy Dies: Floofty talks about how stubborn thier brother was for obsessing over the Grumpinati but admits that Snorpy wasn't just the smarter of the two but also the more outgoing you can just hear the bitter Regret in their voice when they say someone has to keep an eye on Chandlo as Floofty is devastated their brother Died and the last thing they ever said to Snorpy was the cruel disregard that Snorpy had for caring for his sibling. If Floofty Dies: Snorpy is even more jittery and nervous more then ever all he ever wanted was for Floofty to understand that he cares for them and for them to realize (Something Floofty points out in the canon ending) to improve the world one must understand it....but that'll never happen now hence why he plans on carrying Floofty's legacy and make sure his siblings research will benefit the world but that doesn't change the fact that Snorpy blames himself for his siblings Demise
