Thanks man, I rarely comment. But, you just saved me from a massive head ache. Like others I fell for the 15 minute video for a 5 minute job, where it magicly popped off in a slight pull... Was still in the car when I found your vid. 30 seconds of tearing that plastic piece a new one, and off it went.

Thank You. I was trying to press down on the button with screwdriver while trying to pull the shifter off. Stupid idea. I was fighting myself - on one hand I’m holding it down AND on the other hand trying to pull it up. Lol😂. I’ll break that piece. My new one came with that piece anyway.

Worked perfect. Twisted that plastic piece around with channel locks, put a screwdriver in it, and snapped it right off. No reason to save something being replaced.

Only question, how did you remove the cover? I don't want to then b force and break it....
