New York Times bestselling author of THE POWER OF HABIT Charles Duhigg explores the science of productivity and how we can all work smarter, not harder, in his new book SMARTER FASTER BETTER. charlesduhigg.com/books/smarte...
Our Business Book Meetup really enjoyed chatting about your book last night. Thanks! I agree with your video and feel there's one important part left out. To Do Lists are also a place where we can "dump" all the ideas in our brains so that our brains have room for more of them. To Do Lists are often a running list of things I haven't done yet. As I scan them each day, I then pull out my most important things to do and jump on them. But without having written down the ideas as they pop into my head I could 1) forget them or perhaps worse 2) not allow an even better idea to surface because my brain can hold only 7 +/- 2 things at one time. Oh.... and I have (4x6") tablets EVERYWHERE - next to me at my desk, next to where I shave, next to where I sit to read the paper and/or watch TV, in my car, and even above my head where I sleep. I never know where a great idea will work its way through the clutter or noise in my head and scream at me: HEY! Here I am! Oh, and there's something really powerful about actually WRITING and not just typing my lists - my brain continues to work on my ideas long after I've jotted them down (but when I type, it doesn't seem to work as well). And when I fill up a sheet on the tablet (with crossed out items and those that still need my attention), I start a NEW page with those things I still need to get done... sometimes reordering them and rewriting those things I haven't yet accomplished help me laser my focus. Great video. Charles Duhigg is right! I think we should all try some of his tips, I just listened to an AoC Podcast with Charles Duhigg and it’s amazing.
