Silent Mike Holy shit bro! i've seen MANY videos of you and Mark, never saw you this big before! you gained huge amount of weight recently? or you just have a tighter shirt so we can se how huge you really are:P?
Advection357 I think penis damage may stop it becoming too popular. Well, that and dress codes, etc. I just got kicked from a gym for DLing heavy (and making a bit of noise) I'm pretty sure that naked DL:s would also run foul of the rules.
Mark: -This is Mark Bell, here today with my boy Silent Mike. *silence* Mark: -Mike, why don't you introduce yourself? ... Mark: -Mike? Mark: -Oh, yeah...
We are so lucky to have this guy provide so much information about lifting. I was listening to the powercast and one of the guests described him as one of the strongest lifters of his generation which struck me because I'd never thought about it and it is 100% true. You see him so friendly and helpful but the man has put in the time in the trenches and come out as a world record holder and one of the best coaches in the world.
i love how youtubers are coming together and collabing and actually building a community. Supertraining, barbell brigade, omar..all ppl who are passionate about this coming together
Hello from Denmark :) So I want to know if my checklist is good, or missing anything. Could you please share your thoughts? Thank you very much and great video mate. 1. Scalpula ahead of the bar 2. The bar is right placed right above the middle of your foot 3. Chest pushed outward, ensuring a straight line through your spine. 4. Knees are bent, but not too low so you are squatting 5. Elbows are locked Right before the heavy lift: 6. Activation of Glutes (your buttcheeks are closed tightly together) 7. Activation of Lats (You push your arms into your armpits) 8. Take a deep breath and hold it! 9. Push your heels through the ground 10. Pull your back up while pushing hips forward.
This is becoming one of my favorite fitness chanels. As someone who's never gone to a gym and just now 3 weeks into p90x it makes me really look forward to finishing my p90x and going into a gym.
I have added 20kg to my deadlift just by working on my form on skwaaats. Had to check my ego at the door and lost a plate but getting stronger is the goal anyway. Lifting correctly in other compound movements will definitely help to build a solid base for dem deadlifts
PG legend Princess Elsa Oh man, every time I take pre-workout, the caffeine hits and I immediately have to poop. The up side is that you weight a lot less for those bodyweight exercises so you can get a couple more reps ;).
I like it to stand as near as possiblie to the bar. When i grab the bar and lower my hips, my chins push the bar a little bit forward. When i'm in my starting position the bar is as near as possible at my chins and my hips have the perfect position.
Great Video! Great information. I have been doing powerlifting for 7-1/2 months and I have made some great gains on Deadlifts but I noticed I need to stop doing the touch n go cause my form gets out of whack and the bar tends to get too far out in front of me. I can always muscle through my 4th or 5th rep but I hear everything Mark and Mike are saying and need to incorporate more of that information into my lifts. Always learning!
Good video....Just finished some deadlifts and barbell rows a few hours ago.....I have long legs, short back....I've been taking the slack out of my legs before lifting...so I may have had my hips higher than my shoulders....Thanks guys....will check my form. And let's all thank Silent Mike for not pooping his shorts. Thanks, Silent Mike.
I know it's hard to cover every single thing that's going on in the lift, but for the sake of completeness I expected some word about shoulder placement and things around that area. Good video, thank you. :)
Great vid, thx. However, I think its unfortunate that the lat comments came so late in the vid and with such little emphasis. I believe that is a critical que for back safety.
shitting your pants while deadlifting is the ultimate assertion of dominance In a gym. If you're gunna stop me, you'll have to pry the bar from my cold fece covered fingers,
Would love to see a video on whether or not women can do performance training without sacrificing their feminine physique... currently been doing a lot of physique training, loving the visual results, but missing the rush one gets when beating their max.
I've been hitting the gym for about 11 weeks now. I've been having some issues with my deadlift. I can deadlift 110kg (around 243lbs) but I noticed that my form has not been up to a standard that I am happy with. I am thinking about dropping the weight a bit and working on my form until every rep is the same with good form. I kinda think for beginners, there are too many "how to" videos online and all of those guys will have different opinions on the right way to deadlift or squat or whatever. That might not always be the best way for you though. It can be a little frustrating watching lots of videos and getting different advice.
What are the negatives of setting up with the barbell too close to your shin? Wouldn't that ensure that you are on the bar, as opposed to being too far from the bar, before you lift?
Aggressively extending quads to push into the floor before pulling into you.... Interesting queue. I'll have to try this. Trying to chase a 550 conventional deadlift at 6'4.
I do this: 5x5 75%, 3x5 80%, 1x5 85% first cycle 4x5 80%, 4x3 85%, 4x1 90% second cycle 3x5 85%, 3x3 90%, 1x3 95% third cycle then rest for 5-7 days and I try to hit a new pr. Any suggestions?
god damn it i watched 6 minutes of this video until i realized we in here talkin about practice. not a competition! we talkin bout practice! practice! i mean how silly is that?
one thing i found annoying is that when i put the weight on the floor, the weight has moved from the previous neutral position, and it requires me to move my feet to get to the right position again = (
