How to build a junction box using DIN Rail mounted terminal blocks
#dinrail #junctionbox #terminalblocks #electricalengineering #builtbypete
DIN rails are the long metal strips that form the core part of a global industry standard component rail-mounting system in equipment cabinet racks. DIN rails are designed for securely attaching electrical and industrial control products - such as circuit breakers, terminal blocks, power supplies, actuators, solenoids and so on - inside a typical equipment rack housing cabinet or frame.
The advantages of a DIN rail system:
They save time and work - components simply snap or slide into place on the DIN rail, rather than having to panel mount each individual component separately.
They save space - DIN rails allow for tight configurations of components and provide a convenient site for bringing internal and external wiring circuits together, ideal in limited space applications
They’re cost-effective, both in terms of DIN rail pricing itself and the potential it offers for high-density adjacent mounting - this can significantly reduce the overall amount of wiring and cabinet space needed
DIN rails promote neat and well-organised component layout, which is better for all-round safety and maintenance access

Very neat. I'm looking to build a transfer switch for my motorhome and these connectors would be ideal. What are they called and where did you purchase them from.

Thank you. Let me dig out the receipt and I'll let you know where I got them from. They were really cheap. Bear with me.

Found the receipt. It's a company called Switchtec. They are dinkle din rail connectors. Really cheap to buy.

Nice job, bought virtually identical box. What screws did you use to fix the DIN rail please and where did you get them?

Hi Kevin. Thanks. They were already in my toolbox. They were self tap screws about 5mm long..they were from screws supplied for kitchen cabinet trim.

Thanks Pete for the Nice explaining, you use ABS plastic , is it not that this Abs Can not resist UV , and you are going to use it outside :-)

Hi. It's going outside, but inside another cabinet. Have a look here: ru-vid.com/group/PL0oXpMV3A2EPQzUejEepgVCfeB8M7E7bm

It looks nice and neat, does it take up less space than using wago-wire nuts?

I think wago would take up less space. But these din rail connectors I think are neater, plus seem more mechanically secure.
