Why do you discount the total generation? What are some ways that power producers come up with discount rates? Is it just their WACC?

Hi @user-ig1tt3ve8q, I discount the generation to calculate its NPV. As you know the LCOE = NPV(costs)/NPV(generation). The discount rates can be calculate in different ways. A company can use the WACC, WACC + Risk Premium, etc.

Hi Jaden86, I am not aware of any good book for FM. But I can recommend you the courses from Wall Street Prep and I am planning on recording RU-vid videos on how to do FM for renewable projects. Planning to start this week.

my inputs and table match yours exactly, when i do the final step (entering LCOE formula) i end up with $50.03/mWh. can you help?

i also think you're wrong brotha, you're project inputs are realistic but there's no project in the world that could produce energy for $0.04 per mWh...

Hi, send me your file to ineverxever@gmail.com. I will look at it and revert back by the end of the weekend. For the LCOE, it should be 50 USD/MWh or 5cUSD/kWh, which is reasonable for a utility scale project. And subscribe to the channel if you haven't done that yet.
