I make these and have given them out to friends and family. I use my food saver to seal them up, and cut out small triangles in the edges for easy tear opening. I have a high quality ankle trauma kit that is for my use only, and a couple of these kits in the car for strangers at an emergency.

*For $25 you could add just a few feet of duct tape to make an improvised chest seal with a ziploc bag (or the packaging of the SWAT T).* *Gloves and a pair of trauma shears are also inexpensive.Gotta think of BSI if you treat others!* *I carry the SWAT-T in an ankle kit, very compact.* *Kit contains: SWAT-T, two 4" roll of gauze, a few 4" by 4" gauze pads, duct tape, ziploc bag, trauma shears, sharpie, 2 pairs of gloves.*
@Teknologix2010

indeed ductape mine was like: 1x Israeli bandage, 1x compressed gauze 1x several FT of ductape but prepared with easily pullable tabs. 1x gloves

I like the duct tape addition but I'd throw in a boo-boo kit too. Three Band-Aids and a packet of tri-ointment. Instead of (or in addition to) rubber bands and add CoFlex to secure it. BTW vetwrap is the same stuff and much cheaper.

Bandaids, adhesive bandages like a 2” x 2”. May not save a life, but could easily save the day for someone. Takes up little extra room, but will be required far more often.

I know this video is a couple years old now but as an EMT I would also recommend carrying Intra-Nasal Narcan. I know it kinda goes against the whole topic of building a budget friendly first aid kit but it is definitely a game changer in cases of overdoses.

The paper packaging on gauze pads aren't very waterproof so I would opt to put the kit in a ziplock bag of some kind especially if the kit is going to be an EDC item. You don't want to put a soggy gauze pad on a wound. I think the SWAT-T lends itself as a good compression bandage in this respect as it's made of rubber, it can hold a bandage in place and keep it dry in wet conditions. Of course, some kind of sharpie is a must when carrying TQs so you can mark the time it was applied. By the way, I'm glad to see your channel exploded with subs. Just a few months ago, I had a few subscribers more than you and now I'm left in the dust. Keep it up brother.

Great video. I would add some nitrile gloves and put it all in a half gallon ziploc bag to keep it clean, but other than that it's hard to go wrong for a budget setup. Nice work.

The video is great, and the things that you picked are gonna mostly cover everything. I would also get some gloves, and some trauma shears. I know that you can get some cheap ones, but I got the $10 5.11 ones. Maybe it’s overkill, but I just saw them in the store, and I bought them. This is not part of the trauma kit, but I would probably get bandages, and some hydrogen peroxide in a small bottle. I’m probably gonna use it more often than I’m gonna use the other ones. I’m just a regular guy, so I don’t have to necessarily be in situations in which I’ll need to save someone’s life.

Sometimes you get a good bag for free from a car-dealer or a store if you buy something. Ziploc bags are also useful. Gloves are not really nescessary. in the Netherlands you can buy first aid kits from €2,95 but without a tourniquet. a tourniquet is €40,- without shipping costs in the Netherlands.

What's your opinion on the SWAT-T? I bought two. One to train with, and one to carry. To me anyway, it seems difficult to apply. It slips around a lot. Has a tendency to kink and twist as you're applying it. And, in general it seems you have to really work at it to get the proper pressure to cut off circulation.
@Mr2Reviews
@Mr2Reviews 5 лет назад
They're heavier than SOF-T Wide and CAT TQs but like Prep Medic said, they're more comfortable on the person they're being applied to and they also work for small children or very skinny people where CAT or SOF-Ts might not work. I think they're better for applying to other people, not on the individual themselves.
@Penguin545
@Penguin545 3 года назад
Agreed- you can do a swat T pretty easy on your leg or other people’s legs/arms but you will struggle to get it around your own bicep. I carry both but like the NAR CAT the most for its rapid self application.
