Holy moly I want to get one of these I can't imagine how difficult it is to keep it clean and polished though. I would have to put a big clear acrylic (or polycarbonate) cover over it to keep it from getting dusty.

That's funny, this was my first build too - way back around 2010 - followed by the Earth / Moon Sun orbiter that I couldn't resist as a follow on project. Still got them both working fine. Good fun dusting. It took Covid, Bismarck, Terminator and the bad influence of your channel to get me back into partworks. You got there first and reached great fame and celebrity. If only I'd done the Flying Scotsman I could have 100K subscriber channel by now lol.

I remember building this back in 2008, as a part work. Wasn’t as refined as it is now by the looks, no rubber and plastic bushings just all brass and no separate drive and middle shaft. I too have since lost mine along the way, but I am tempted to get the whole kit

Great video Wayne! I first saw this offered by Eaglemoss when I started the star ship subscription. I was tempted to get this then, but reviews I heard about it at the time were less than stellar. What I'm seeing here seems much better - I may break down and order this now!

I recall this model was re released twice in shops over a ten year period. I think it’s a shame they don’t go back and revise models to improve before releasing again. Not that there’s anything wrong with this one but it’d be a welcome addition to anyone thinking of buying again.

Great Video Wayne, I remember getting this when it first came out, I also got the Tellurian as well. But had to sell both later on. I tried to get the Orrery again from ebay but got burned with a bad seller who posted it with damage to all the brass parts. I eventually got the Tellurian again but I am still tempted to get the Orrery if I can find space.

I built this a long time ago - they also had the earth/moon/sun model - nice however the planet arms sag shortly after no matter how tight u make the set screws - i doubt they changed it

I find working with chrome or highly polished surfaces to wear surgical gloves, saves a lot of polishing afterwards. looks a great piece of engineering - was this the exact same model/make you had in the first place?

Can I also ask about the R2D2. do you maybe know why the head is only initialising when the cable is pluged in. without the cabel only the feets and the sound comes up. but i can all controle wit the app

I built this one over 12 years ago or more and it rusted everywhere because it was plated to look like brass and the QLD humidity just made it rust, I was heartbroken 💔

I did this originally from eaglemoss got halfway through building and because we moved from flat to house my now ex wife threw it in the bin as she did not want her house cluttered
