in this video I show you how I built a sandpit lid with very basic materials and with basic tools and fixings, building a sandpit lid to keep animals out and keep the sand dry and cleaner in bad weather. it is really easy to build a sandpit lid this took me about an hour all in all including filming. this sandpit lid is made from 2x2 treated timber and 4inch featheredge boards, fixed together with nails.
super simple, quick, effective and cheap sandpit lid build.
i made sure no nails or tools or materials are left on the ground and i made the lid fully removable so it can be put well out the way for safety, so it can not fall on anyone when the sandpit is in use. i have later installed a lock setup so the lid can be secured down to stop it being blown off or lifted of without an adult present for supervision, safety is paramount especially if children are around, and great care should be taken always be safe.
to see the nail hack to help avoid the wood from splitting when nailing into it check out this video here : • How do i stop wood spl...

Ya I'm always cautious with that. Ideally I should have made it on the drive but for filming was better to do it on the grass.

But filming already turns an hour job into a 3 hour job 🙃 so doing it all in the same area made it easier for filming. But as I say in the vid best doing it on a floor that can be Swept Up After.

@@nikmoss975 ya I believe so and it should last well. Unsure if I should paint it or leave it to silver in the sun 🌞

Thanks very much. Ya it's a real simple design the lid it had was a ply one that was glossed but it de laminated within a year so I made this and as its oit of pressure treated fencing materials it should last loads longer and also looks better.

Lid is a smart idea you wouldn't believe all the bugs and gross stuff you can find in there without, not to mention cat poop lol

Ya, definitely foxes and cats seem to be the worst culprits. Good to keep them out
