@@HomeRenoVisionDIY and you used it the right way, like when something is about to go wrong and you need to stop like over tightening a screw or pouring too much water in the mix or dropping a concrete counter (really sorry about that, hurt me just seeing it). Love your videos, keep them coming!!!!
I love how this portrays exactly what it is like for most people to do projects like this. Missing part, damaged part, frustration, dropped part into hard to reach area, etc. Very relatable.
I learned two things watching this. 1. Jeff is human after all, despite being a pro, he runs into snags like the rest of us. 2. Canadians do and can get upset...although still a very polite upset.
I was actually surprised he didn't know that. Whenever you buy a nice storm door you usually have to buy the handle/lock separately. Though I've been in similar situations and reacted the same way. Love the way the kids laughed at his reaction. Hilarious!
Honestly, glad he didn't edit out his frustration during that part. I was mad for him and they should have had that warning on both sides of the box like he said. That's crazy they left out the handle. Like wtf.
Dude. You are my hero. Better than Bob Villa. More detailed than This Old House. And somehow, you're reading my mind with this video. Love your channel, man. Thank you!
We have a 3 season room across the back of our house, so my wife and I's project this spring is to make it a 4 season room with skylights for year round plants and living space.
I loved using ready seal on my bunkie, peakan on the exterior and i used dark walnut on the interior. Totally goof proof very easy application and when i need to reapply in a few years time you dont have to sand off the previous finish you just have to spray wash for clean surface and reapply.
You just showed the most common feeling of the DIY, and what he goes through....over and over and over again! Yet, we keep coming back for more, but the wiser of course.
You made my day Jeff!! Love your Rant, justified!! You need to state that ANYONE selling products incomplete, that the sellers advise the customer, EVERYTIME, even if written on the packaging.
A 3 season room makes a good storage place to keep things that are nice, chilled by nature. It's a more refreshing cold than a refrigerator offers. I kept Soda, Fruits, and vegetables and things that temperature doesn't matter, in the winter time. I tend to stock up differently, in the winter, just to keep from going to the store so often.
I really love your positive attitude. You are a good example to others. "Well Jeff's gotta wake up, that's all right" when at the miter saw... I have someone close to me that just beats themself up when they make a mistake and I am trying to help them see they don't have to be so awful to themselves when realizing a mistake and still learn from it.
Hi Jeff, thank you so much for your videos. I started following you a few months ago. I didn't like the first video I saw because you were complaining a lot about some previous poor flooring job and I thought you were arrogant but I kept watching your other videos because the content was interesting. And HomeRenovision grew on me. I really like your work, your style, the way you explain complicated stuff to make it simple and understandable. I love when you talk about money because ("that's money in the bank", "save a ton of money"). You are super smart. Learning from you has been a pleasure. You changed my mentality in so many ways, not just to do home renovations but in a more profound way. Now I have a new mentality, it's a new way of life. I don't know if you read the comments but I sincerely wanted to thank you for your teaching and for being a generous person with your knowledge. Way to go and many, many years of success for your company and your RU-vid channel. Thank you!
Beautiful windows and I’ve never heard of these before…wish I had the money to enclose my porch like that! Even doing it yourself has to be big bucks but what a grand place to have!! Thank you!!!
The door handle debacle along makes this a must watch video. It’s good to see how a professional deal with this problem. 😎 As always, good information and clearly explained. Keep the video’s coming.
I was CACKLING ON THE FLOOR when you flipped the box over and realized that everything you wanted the box to say was on the other side. I love these videos. This is some good stuff man, keep it up.
When I want to learn to cook, I watch Jaques Pepin. When I want to learn to paint, I watch Bob Ross. When I want to learn to reno/remodel, I watch Jeff!
Buy a set of JIS bits to use with standard Phillips. They don't cam out like Phillips (a flaw that was engineered into Phillips to prevent over torque). JIS is a Japanese standard for use on production lines. Hondas are full of them.
Thank you. I shared this with my wife and sister. The faux rocks were their favorite. I’ll be doing the v groove knee wall tomorrow. It’s a 100 year old Chicago bungalow. Last year we jacked and leveled and replaced the rotted posts. Love to watch you work and explain, keep up the great work
All this time I've been hoping you'll renovate my kitchen. I've changed my mind!! I want a 3 season room now!!! LOL Typical woman, can't make up my mind!! LOL I wished you a Happy New Year earlier this morning on your last video before you posted this video, but I'll do so again here!!! I hope the best for you guys!! Here's to a better year than the last one!!! Love you guys!!!! "Close enough for me and the girls I go out with." Who have you been hanging out with lately? Is that construction lingo? 😳🙄🙃
With temperatures dropping down to 30 below. I would be thinking of insulating every crack, not just covering the crack with another board. I would have used the window flashing tape to prevent water damage. The deck like most are built with a slope, that's why the sides weren't square.
Milwaukee stand base and Dewalt saw at 5:48 ........love it !!!!!!! Hex heads >>>> barbaric screws 26:26.... Lol !!!!! Your room turned out amazing ,great job ,enjoy!!!
Curious about all the gaps in the building enveloppe of this 3 season porch. Air and water will leak in all the "wall" cavities, and moisture will have a harder time escaping now that it's closed and insulated. Wouldn't it fare better to properly waterproof it? I understand cedar is resilient, but it becomes an interior space after all.
I'm soooo with you Jeff on the Philips screws. I work in electronics and security systems, and of course everything is made in China and comes with Philips screws. Unless they are specialized sizes for special applications, they go straight in the trash and I break out my Robertson. I have been dabbling in woodworking for a few years and I'm amazed how all the American sites and publications have only recently come to know the Robertson/square head screw.
I am so glad that I am not the only one who buys items for construction and installation only to find out the handles or latches or pins or 430958724p5 n295 are sold separately. And the screw or nails are 'CHEAP". I too will be ding a 3 season room here in DeWitt MI. My confidence is much better now.
I enjoyed this video more than most. Good to see your work around process and communication you have with your guys. Thanks for the demonstration, as always! -Handy Ma’am Home Repair
Jeff, one of your best videos. Mainly from the standpoint that your door didn’t come with a handle. It was so true to life. Many you tubers never show mistakes or when something doesn’t work out. I laughed for a good 15 min. Love what your doing with your chat sessions, videos, interviews. Keep up the good work. PS...how did you get the black eye a few weeks ago?
If you could come to SW Ohio and frame my enclosed in that'd be nice. I'm a plumber not a carpenter and watching your videos of you and your son especially the concrete and masonry work helps. I've been doing my own renovations to my house as well. Some things mainly plumbing have been hacked together but have since been fixed. Enclosed deck but I need to extend the existing but that is the next project.
the joy of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX!! Thanks Jeff... I needed a good GIGGLE!! Especially after watching DAS BOOT for 3hours You´re still ´Cooler Than The Other Side Of The Pillow!!
First official 2021 dated video I see and didn't know you were in Canada, thanks for all the previous videos, I learned a lot and built 2 sheds using some of your techniques.
Loved this! Just what I needed to plan for making my porch four seasons ... We can do that in Mississippi, where winters are pretty mild ☺️... Thank you!
I had the same exact issue with the exact same full view retractable screen door, the only difference was it is a Larson door, not Andersen. Be grateful, the Larson door didn’t even come with the latch assembly, I had to but it, the lock & handle as a kit separate from the almost $400 door lol. K, back to the video. Happy New Year!!!
Love this! I hear ya' on the door handle deal... Most often when ordering a door...even in the world of "options"..you think they would have the option for style and color of handle for the door ordered. Thanks for not deleting it so that the DIY guy knows that these things happen to ALL kinds of folks. Happy New Year! 😇😎😀
I really enjoy your videos and the information you offer, although, I'm to old to do most the building you do, I still try. I'm also glad to see that even a professional has an opportunity to cuss. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Awesome look! Great spot to read a book with a light breeze as the sun goes down. Happy New Year to you, Jeff, your family and Max! Wish you the best for 2021!
Larson doors at Lowe’s do the exact same thing on the storm door. I couldn’t believe it when I got to that point in the instructions and lost it. On top of that, the door handle was $60 if I remember correctly!
Ok..ok..you've got me convinced!! Watched the entire video 3 times!! Your hired!🌺🙂 I have always wanted a room like this for my flowers... Your hired!😁 Yippy Skippy! Horay!! Finally gonna get my 4 season room!
This Jeff 💪🏾🐲 I really needed this. My budget is now existent however I'll get there. I just have to start where I can until I can build how I really see my outdoor space.
Oh, man! So much to unpack here... The room looks gorgeous and I want one. You all sounded like a cartoon parody of a nature documentary echoing "right?!" to each other. "It's like underwear but only for one leg!!!" HAHAHAAHAHAH!!!!
Great stuff. I'm hung up on the cutting wood in the house part... with no bag to cut down on the saw dust... I feel sorry for whomever has to clean that up. Love the new set up!
