This 12 x 16 tiny house was built entirely off the grid in the woods on our mountain top property. We have now put together this video to show the entire process, start to finish! Complete, how to build, step by step.

Ants love foam so try some bubble foil-wrap and staple it under the sub-floor once the house is dried in.

I think you could build a nice 12 x 12 foot inclosed porch, with a wood box attached to the outside of it. This would be like a second kitchen/den area.

I loved your Tiny Cabin and your previous Tiny House. If you are still trying to have a 'greenhouse' area inside your new house, look for free used glass shower doors and use them for a large wall to begin your plant starts. I loved your spiral tiered design for the house as it allowed you to go up or down without too steep a ladder/stair, easy for the little ones to handle on their own. Interested to see what yall will build now.

That is the plan! Our new build is going to be done in pieces starting with just a single room after which we will continue to build onto it. I would imagine the greenhouse will be our third edition and hopefully be constructed before next spring!

Inclose underneath the house and use as a root cellar. The Boss of the Swamp did that and used a metal tool box to keep any critters out of his cache/food bin.

I found your channel right around the time ya'll were leaving the old property so one of the first videos i saw was the tiny house tour and i think it was an excellent use of space with one exception. I would have put a ceiling up in the utility room under the kitchen floor and cut door access panels in the kitchen floor for storage areas like they do on some sailboats. Would make a perfect pantry area for canned goods etc.

That is a good idea! We did that with the ceilings, that's where I stored my bow and arrows fishing poles things of that nature. We also never got around to framing a door and the second storage area. But it was on the list!

Its crazy how its still cheaper and fast to build a home your self using new and recycled material then say working two jobs or working overtime...... sometimes its better to invest time on yourself

You are absolutely correct!! I lost my father at age 15 and that was a huge motivating factor to choosing this way of life! ..So I would add one stipulation to your comment, time spent with your family!

First of all, your design, build is amazing, I can't believe you created the entire tiny house by youself, even if it's a tiny house. Perhaps, when you guys save up enough, you can design / build a tiny, separate greenhouse and start growing your own food. And design a way to capture rain water so water is free. Just a thought.

Sorry but that foundation is prety poor. It may work on flat sandy soil but your mountian is not that. It's going to slide and move alot.

That's not the only thing moving. You cannot depend on that foam board insulation to not compress and put the whole framing out of whack. Just not a good build, sorry not sorry

i think the house wrap is permeable in one direction / so having the Lowe's insignia reversed may not be a good idea @ 26:32

Assuming you ripped all the plywood in half to make it easier to install? And the gaps between plywood seams? Definitely a interesting build being trip level

That is correct LOL I built all this by myself so I couldn't risk getting hurt. Even with a 22 ft ladder I could barely reach the upper portions on the back side.

You Are Telling Me That This Whole Cabin Is Sitting On Staggered Cynder Blocks? what’s Gonna Happened When It Pours. whats Gonna Happened On A Heavy Rain And Hard Wind. i dont See The Structured Engineering…I Give You Credit On Te Carpentry You are A Genius But Poor Knowledges On Structure, You Need To Work On That. Dont Need U to explain Us. But You Need To Think 5 Years From Now.. Remember You Are Not On Flat Land Which It May Work But Not On A Hill
