If you put the epoxy syringe in some warm water for a few minutes before you dispense the epoxy it’ll thin it out and make it flow better. ( I put it in a sandwich bag first Incase it drips then toss it in a bucket filled with 100 degree Fahrenheit water) thanks for the great vids!!

So, as someone mentioned previously, a bit of brown and purple will get some more realistic blood. But! If you paint the base of that pool various shades of dark brown first, then mix in Tamiya Clear Red (or GW's Blood for the Blood God) with the 5-minute epoxy, you'll get a more rich blood color. The clear red will still tint the epoxy the color you'll need, but it will kind of "shade" the brown in the pool, making it look deeper than it actually is. It'll also make it ever so slightly transparent, which is great for the rivulets of blood coming out of the skull. Also, for longer strands of blood, using clear plastic or fishing line works great. Coat the plastic/fishing line in 2-3 layers of mod podge, apply clear red on it, and finish off with a final layer of mod podge. Cheap, effective, and looks great.

It's probably because it's monochrome, I mean one unique red. I don't know how to do the trick, but 2 different reds and somme red brownish touches would give it a look closer to the blood. Anyway that one is still cool.

I like the implication here, that the blood fountain's centerpiece isn't just a normal skull, but some kind of _giant's_ skull. Really puts into perspective the resourcefulness of whatever evil force created the fountain.

Another really great idea. I've got those skulls laying around, too. I've used 2 part epoxy for casting for years. Used that paint-on latex to make molds of my favorite minis in the 80s. It will get brittle and warp a bit after 20 years or so. Some of my best work is slowing falling apart. I will still use it sometimes, because its so cheap. I use an actual casting material now, but have no clue if it will age better.

I've used dark red nail polish from dollar stores for blood effects, since I couldn't figure any out that looked convincing enough for me. I really like the end result, the application was supposed to look like writing in blood and blood spatters. I used 2 different polishes, one was just a very dark red and the other one was more of a wine colored one with this odd shimmer (not glitter) in it that made this really cool effect on it, similar in effect to the shimmer oil slicks get on the surface. Word of warning it can get messy depending on how you use it, the one I had would set pretty damn quick and use cheapy brushes as they will probably get ruined with the polish. I will be trying this epoxy method soon with the suggestions from the comments to add purple and brown.

I love the 5min epoxy. Only thing I dislike about it is the infernal smell it produces. I've never had the chance to work with regular epoxy so I don't know if it's common for all types... Even once it's cured it still stinks for days. I definitely recommend using the stuff in a WELL ventilated area. And abandoning it outside until it no longer smells like a demon farted on it.

I don't know how I missed this when it was first posted, but that is one awesome looking piece of terrain! The superglue "misfire" made me wince because I've had that happen too, though with me it was a squeeze bottle of superglue and it got all over a white metal miniature; needless to say, the mini spent several hours in some nail polish remover and I wound up ripping off several of the thin top layers of skin (because I'm impatient and I can't stand the feel of superglue on my skin so I literally sand it off my skin). As a thought for possible future projects with blood; I don't know if you've seen/heard of the Tamiya Clear acrylic paints, but they make a line of transparent colors and the red, when mixed with a little bit of purple/violet ink makes some *really* convincing fresh blood. You can mix it in with water effects and it preserves more of the transparency.

I was curious as to how I could make a circular tower for a castle, even a modular form of it would be nice. With in-betweens to place in a square and towers on the corners. But mainly because I want to make the project halfway then go straight into turning it into a circular dice tower! It could be a multi level build, also I wanted to give it a "Cthulhu" theme for my campaign. How would glow in the dark paint work for this type of craft? Thanks in advance and I'll definitely become a patron as soon as I get the chance.

The blood color really ought to be a bit darker and more desaturated. I've always found that a dark red mixed with a a bit of olive green will create a very realistic blood color. The more olive green the more dried the blood will look, to a point. If you add to much it will obviously look green which really only works if you are making spock bleed.

I'd literally just finished getting the last of the supplies needed, this weekend, but it's ok as I didn't spend much cash on it. My design is almost exactly identical to yours, but with only 2 very minor changes. Oddly enough, though, I was already halfway on the fence about it, so don't feel bad (not saying that you do, just that if you do then don't). For some reason I can't explain, I've sort of felt like I'm forcing myself to enter, rather than for the enjoyment. I also don't have any need for the prize this time, so giving those who do a better chance of getting it is kind of rewarding to me anyway. Keep up the great work, though, it's been very helpful to us all. :)

Also, I'm u sing this design as a replacement for the blood fountain in DMG's Under the Tavern module. nice work.
