I have had one since just after release date. Coming from a D850 and a Z 7ll , which I still have I do like the autofocus on this and I been using it a bit for bird photography paired with the 180-600mm. Works well. Although yes I do miss the same cropping ability ,it is somewhat refreshing working with smaller files at times. I also do both portraiture and limited weddings . As you say, it's an all round camera and does exactly what it was meant to do. I do hope Nikon do add dedicated bird detection and maybe even a slight jump in autofocus via firmware, its a new camera so hopefully that won't take too much longer
Glad to see you like it! It’s nice to watch a real and honest review about this camera :) Can’t wait to for your next videos! I have one too and I love it (I’m mostly landscapes). About the autofocus, I agree a firmware update will boost it to the z8/9 level, if Nikon add the birds detection.
Hi Scott! Amazing review as always! You and Hudson Henry are the only trustworthy Nikon reviewers! May I ask if you can confirm that Z6iii has the x2.3 crop mode in 4k120p video? This is the feature I use 100% on z9 and might sell the z9 for z6iii (cus I need some money) just for that feature but NOBODY is discussing it.
I gave the camera back and now I have to remember! I am almost CERTAIN that 120 4k is in CROP mode (I think I tested at H.265) I have an upcoming video on Z6 III Video Capabilities (2 weeks away). In that I show the slow-mo comparison. It was full frame for 6k 60 and HD 240, but it was crop for 4k 120. I am almost positive of this stay tuned!
Good initial review of your series on this camera. Don’t forget to let us know what you think about the upgraded EVF with the higher MP count and larger color gamut as compared to your Z9. Does the rear monitor give the same improved color gamut or just the EVF?
Thanks Scott. I'm looking to upgrade before spring and have been seriously considering the Z6iii paired with the 180-600 Z mount lens for bird photography (I still shoot the D500 200-500 f5.6 combo). My biggest concern is sensor size and cropping. I'm hoping Nikon announces the Z7iii soon and it has a 33 -36 mp sensor and no flippy screen. I can hope, right😅
I am racking my brain here. I don’t shoot video and I feel I just bought the z6iii wasting my money and should have kept my and maybe have kept my OM-1 with the 40-150, 12-40. I now have the NIKKOR 180-600, 24-120, and the 105. I just felt I was missing something with my Micro4/3. All of my pictures seemed soft when comparing to FF pictures. I guess I pixel peeped too much (which I guess was a habit I picked up from watching too many RU-vid videos. But really, shouldn’t the m4/3’s pictures be just as sharp and crisp as FF? I do shoot wildlife, I shoot landscape, and I do shoot macro. so I’m your honest opinion, should I trade my z6iii back to the OM-1? Or just keep the Z6iii and get used to it? I’m no professional, but I do love to print and I do love to post my pictures. Help me make up my mind
Not sure I can help with Olympus. The idea of micro 4/3 has never appealed to me. Video is a big aspect of the Z6iii for sure. If you are just shoot a variety of still, an older model like the Z6ii or Z7 could be appealing (neither great for birds but good all around options)
@@WildlifeInspired thanks man. I honestly had the Zf, then traded it for the Z6iii. Im actually kinda thinking to go back to the Zf. (I know, it’s so crazy)
