I like to use a plastic grout brush for texturing my tiles and timber, you get the same effect without most of the problems you get with the wire brushes. The house wound up looking really great

Sounds like solid advice. I have a plastic one too so I will give it a try.

Nice work, took a look at your etsy shop, and knowing how much they take I think your prices are insanely low unless when you are not making a vid you knock out a full cottage with 20 minutes of work.

Thanks so much for the kind words and for checking out my Etsy shop! I understand the concern about pricing, especially considering the effort that goes into each piece. The process of building terrain is indeed intricate, but I've found a rhythm in working on multiple builds simultaneously-usually between 10 and 20, depending on their complexity. This approach helps me streamline the overall time spent on each project. When it comes to pricing, I aim to take a comprehensive view, balancing the cost of materials, time, and the Etsy fees, which, for me, average out to about 10% of the gross income. This is relatively manageable compared to other platforms, such as eBay. Ultimately, I'm able to earn an average full-time salary from my work. More importantly, though, the real reward comes from the joy of crafting terrain and knowing it enhances the gaming experiences of others. That's what truly drives me every day. Thanks again for your support and understanding. It means a lot! Also, apologies for the longwinded response.

@@ArtJeremiahI was curious about that too. Considering the low price vs time investment. Obviously you make it work! But would casting some of the common parts, like walls, and then doing pours for them be quicker/cost effective?

@03dashk64 I've done quite a bit of experimenting with casting. It can be worth it, but resin casting can be heavy to ship. Also, unless you have some sort of vacuum chamber you can get bubbles, and a vacuum chamber or pressure pot is it's own hassle. Casting with 2 part expanding foam was interesting and really creates some heavy duty and lightweight terrain. That said, it was also a hassle to work. It takes experimenting and math to pour the right amounts into the molds. You also have to make some pretty heavy-duty molds. Like silicone encased in fiberglass or plaster cloth and a way to bolt or band it shut to prevent the foam from just expanding out of the mold. It's a lot of work but the end result is satisfying. Overall, molding parts with resin or molding whole pieces of terrain can be rewarding but overall it felt too much like work and less like art. So I switched back mainly to crafting with foam and hot glue. And depending on your mold, you can use thermo plastic (hot glue or plastic similar to wooodland scenic trees and bones models) as a medium as well and it's less susceptible to breaking than resin. Really, if you haven't experimented with casting I would recommend trying it out and seeing if it's for you. Perhaps I can make a more detailed video about casting in the future.
