Glad to see another Daxos player. Its one one my favorites decks to pilot since when it came out. Also, thanks for let me know Minthara existed. I'll go get one for my deck like right now! :D Here are my 2 cents for anyone who wanna pilot this Commander: - I agree that is better build the deck from scratch. I think there is less than a handfull, if none of the precon cards in my deck atm, so is better to use those 80 bucks in buying Daxos and the singles you wanna play. - As you said, the deck suffers from card drawing, so add any card that allow you to draw extra cards and/or tutors to increase consistency to the deck. - Skybind is a staple for the deck imho, and adds a lot of sinergy by allowing you to remove opponent's permanent for a turn, blinking your Nyktos/Serra's Sanctum for extra mana on your opponent's turns, or blink any permanent to abuse ETB triggers (Gray Merchant of Asphodel anyone?). The only drawback is it doesn't target enchantments, but still I suggest to get one ASAP. - Same with Glistening Oil. Not only helps you pump those experience points, but also turns your spirit tokens into a real threat. - All that Glitters, Ethereal Armor and Flickering ward are also good addons, specially if you wanna run a Voltron/Auras Deck. Combine it with Glistening Oil for more profit ;) - Opalescense and Starfield of Nyx mess with your Spirit tokens and don't sinergize well with the deck, so I don't recommend them. - I all else fails, the good ol' Sanguine Bond + Esquisite Blood combo is a good alternative win condition. As a final note, Daxos the returned is not a Tier 1 Commander, so don't expect to be winning tournaments left and right. Still is a fun deck to play with friends and on your LGS on a non competitive (aka Tier 1) environment.
Adding to this. The main cards from the precon that you want, like doomwake giant, mesa enchantress, sigil of the empty throne, they're incredibly cheap. Buying them as singles is the way to go
Because i like daxos. I grew up playing daxos. I have orzhov sleeves to match, i also run devotion heavy packaging and that fucked by tri colors. 3 colors has more versatility. I get both angles. I like using nykthos, but I don't feel comfortable recommending a 40 dollar land
