A short intro, footage of the real deal and a video slide show introducing advanced weathering techniques for aircraft. The legendary RAF tornado GR4 with over 20 years operational service makes an excellent subject !
Some nice work there, Mark. About to start the same kit myself - just a quick heads-up tho'... the main wheels - negative camber - may need to re-set them. Best from NZ.
Well despite the weapons type usage lectures and the wheels from a Citroen 2CV it’s a dam good effort, I’m currently ATTEMPTING! to build the italeri 1/32 GR4 but because I like to make as much work for myself as possible I’m building it minus the wings, the nibs at the wing pivot, the wing seal finger fairings, and with numerous access panels removed so I can detail in those areas it’s proving to be a challenge for my tender years” +60 something”. So take a thumbs up from me for your model it looks the biz👍👍
You have Paveway IV kits on the bombs, but those weapons use American made Mk83 bombs coloured grey, not olive green like UK built HE weapons. You also have a red band on them not present in real life, red bands denote incendiary risk. I can't quite make it out but there also seems to be a cable conduit running down the side of the weapon, this is incorrect. The remove before flight flags seem to be coming from too far forward, the correct position is in the middle of the suspension lugs. Also by 2011 we had stopped using Sidewinder missiles and moved on to ASRAAM
Nice build Mark. However you state that revell left out the 2 antenna from the spine. Later GR4 had the antenna removed as the avionic mod relocated the receiver inside the leading edge of the fin.
I know this is a very late reply but I've only recently found this channel. With respect to the spine aerials I agree that they were removed on GR4s, but not during the MLU. If you watch the footage, at 6:07 the subject 41 sqn jet appears, in anniversary markings, with the FLIR fairing and the 2 spine aerials. Just goes to show the importance of researching your subject, which Mark clearly did in this case.
