Bamboo is among the strongest woods there is pound for pound. However, that's not a bamboo roof. Bamboo has chambers that are closed off from each other that will fill with water during some seasons (spring I think). The horizontal separations create a series of ridges down the stalk that is a very recognizable appearance. Fun fact: that water is filtered through the plant and so it is safe to drink if you ever find yourself in a survival situation.

I doubt the guy who made the video will answer you and also I think it's more for entertainment purposes then a real survival situation :). But here's what I'm thinking: I'm pretty sure like you said it's going to be flooded as soon as there's too much rain. I'm not a specialist but underground shelters like these would need like a big layer of some type of gravel all around it to drain the water and probably a sump pump, but then you are no longer in a survival situation. Simply because water follows gravity and will go in the easiest way in, like a hole in the ground. I'm interested in a lot in survival situations and I think the best bet would be to always stay above the ground and if you can, make a separation between you and the ground and let the cold air flow and prevent the rot. That's why we usually build foundations. This is for the flood part lol. For those heavy rocks I think you are right too and a problem with these kind of "masonry" that holds together the rocks is unless you put some kind of a roof on it, to prevent from the water, the rocks will fall in no time.. I hope I helped ?! I always like to talk about those type of things :).

1) There's nothing you can do about it - it's a critical fault in the design 2) you would need to have supporting beams and pillars inside to prevent the collapse. Understand that these videos are for show only. You would not replicate any of these in a survival situation as they would take up far too much energy that you would need to conserve to survive, and aren't functional. You're much better off with simple Bushcraft like a 'lean-two' with a couple of wind walls made from timber, and a stone fire pit.

@@stegre458 Water can fill this hole quickly. A heavy animal walking across the structure can cause wood- and stonefall. Smoke doesn´t always do what one expects it to do - smokepoisoning possible. People (or animals) walking by can easily break their legs... or get shocked/angry, what could be fatal if an animal is poisonous. Sleeping on the ground (no air between body and ground) WILL effect EVERYBODYS health in very negative ways. And a few more hazards I can´t recall riht now.
