Bavarian RC I always have crazy ideas, never enough time or money although 😔. you should put a light weight brushed motor with pinion and ring gear on the plane , I tore apart my hubsan h502s to get my hands on the motor/gear/prop assembly , they use a 8520 7.4 volt brushed motor and I did a rough thrust test and I was getting over 80grams of thrust from the 5.5 inch propeller being turned by the small 8520 brushed motor on 2s lipo , the motor /gear/ propeller assembly only weighs 10grams as well and they have small ball bearings on the ring gear propeller shaft unlike other brushed gearboxes I seen for rc planes

I have no experience with such motors. With 80grams of thrust the overall design strategy should be "light weight", but I guess you will need also a smaller battery in that case which will again decrease the weight.

My version of the Lidl Devil needs the opposite of your thrust line ! It needs 4° with the motor shaft DOWN not up. Mine is the 2021 version of the Lidl and due to the semi-symmetrical section it needs almost no reflex, certainly 12° is far to much. I have very low power to make it a gentle park flyer.

I love this mod, I left mine more standard and added a top-mounted pusher prop, it flies really well! p.s. could you post a link where to get some of that wire you used for the pushrods?

Thanks! 😀 the push rods are the ones from flite test. Link to the US store: store.flitetest.com/flite-test-23-push-rods-8-flt-2071/p791696 in Europe they are distributed by Graupner: www.graupner.de/Flite-Test-Push-Rods-Steuerstangen-8-Pack-42-cm/FT4021B/ but basically they are just 1mm steel wires.

I use a strip of electric tape around the fuselage and hood ... not nice but effective 😜 For my Lidl A-10 I used a better way to attach it (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-46IW8-I5P0Y.html at 11:23)

Just wondering what the measurement is for the position of the servos is. I’ve just been out and purchased a Lidl glider I’ve got some spare electronics laying around so thought I’d give it a go. The only bit in your build I can’t see is the servo measurements. Don’t suppose you have build plans separate to this video? Thanks in advance.

Could I mod this by also adding a horizontal stabiliser on the Top of vertical stabiliser just for more stability and looks

Why not, I am sure this would work. Just make sure to get the angle right. Actually the original Lidl glider has too much difference in angle of atatck between the wing and the stabilizer. Therefore if you position the HSTAB on top of the VSTAB I would reduce the angle so that the difference between wing and HSTAB is around 1,5 - 2,0 degrees. If that works ... only flght tests will tell 😉

Hi Manygma, LIDL is a Discounter in Europe and some further countries around the world. The real name is Playtive glider XXL. I need to check all comments, cause someone posted a comment with a link to banggood, where they sell the plane as well.

Hello Andre, I will try to give you some advise, but the correct settings are pretty much dependant on your specific plane (profile, wing span, size of elevon,...). On my Lidl glider I did some glide tests with different levels reflex (elevon upwards setting). In the end I have 12 degrees reflex. The CG is 35mm from the leading edge. In my pusher configuration I needed to give the motor a down thrust of 4 degrees againt the underside of the wing. It took me some tests to find this setting. Therefore I recommend (if possible) to make an adjustable firewall where you can add or delete spacers to change the angle. Hope I could help you … wish you a lot of success with your build. Just cut the end off the fuselage, offer up a piece of plywood, and draw round it. What could be simpler. Nobodies motor mount template would be of use to anyone else unless the cut is made at exactly the same place. And bear in mind that this Lidl Devil is based on the old Lidl glider which is different in every respect from the current one, including the fuselage shape.

Unfortunately the Graupner Motors are no longer available on the market as Graupner is bankrupt. You could use any 2218 motor with approx. 1200kv e.g. the Emax GT2218 / 09 1100kv or the Flite Test Radial C motor

Ich arbeite mit zwei verschiedenen Fräsern um den Rumpf auszuhöhlen: der Fräser 193 und der Fräser 561. Der Fräsvorsatz den ich mehrmals verwendet habe ist der 565. Mit den Nummern müsstest Du die Teile auf der Dremel Homepage finden.

Hi, the CG is at 35mm from the leading edge. Check also the video description for my other settings. It took me a while to find the correct setting for the reflex (both ailerons up). In my case it was 12 degrees up, but this also depends on the size and geometry of your ailerons. Hope this helps. If you need more info, just drop another comment. Cheers and good luck!

Hello. Do you also not need to add a Bevel to the top of the aileron also? All my factory models have a bevel top and bottom.

If you have the pivot point on the upper edge of the aileron you only need a bevel on the bottom. If you have the pivot point in the middle between upper and lower edge then for sure you need a bevel on both sides. If you want to attach the ailerons with clear packing tape then you‘ll have to have the pivot point at the upper edge and a bevel on the bottom. Do you think this is a good 4th lidl rc plane I have a 2815 detrum motor and a 45 amp or 30 amp esc but I only have a 1000mah 3s do you think it will balance the cg with a smaller battery that you used

This one is a bit harder to fly compared to the Twin Turbo Lidl, so could be the next one once you master the Twin. Hard to tell if the CG will work out. If you mount the HSTAB on top of the VSTAB it will add additional weight so I fear you would even need more weight in the front. But you can also add balance weight and later upgrade to a larger battery.

Hi! After the succes of my twin I bought yesterday evening 3x Aldi Toylino XL wurügeln. We dont have Lidl Glider here in Hungary. Do you know it? In the box it seems like the same as Lodl Glider.

@@bavarian_rc Thx! Now I opened the box, it seems like your pre 2021 Lidl Glider. The trailing edges are as thick as yours. It is good, because 2021 Lidl has so thin, that a bad landing can damage it.

Ich hoffe das hilft Dir weiter. Den Wert mit den 12 Grad habe ich durch einige Versuche erflogen (=crashen bis er richtig fliegt 😜). Wenn trotzdem noch Fragen übrig bleiben, gerne nochmal hier einen Kommentar schreiben.

Hallo, also ich muss auch sagen, dass der Motorsturz nach oben bei mir auch nicht so funktioniert. Der Flieget steigt sofort weg und kann nicht einmal mit viel Drücken in eine normale Steigflugbahn gebracht werden. Die beste Version ist nach meiner Erfahrung mit null Motorsturz, also Motorachse in Verlängerung der Längsachse. Andere Nurflügel mit Druckpropeller haben das auch so.z.B. Der Xeno von Multiplex. Ebenso andere Lidl Flieger Umbauten in Nurflügelkonfiguration. Zum Glück ist das leicht zu ändern. Als Startmethode hat sich bei mir bewährt, das Modell mit einem kräftigen Wurf leicht nach oben ohne Motor zu starten und dann erst den Motor einzuschalten. Man hat genügend Zeit dafür, da das Modell recht gut gleitet und nicht gleich auf den Bauch fällt.

Ich hab viel rum probiert und den S-Schlag, den Schwerpunkt und den Motorsturz verändert. Irgendwann flog er dann und so hab ich‘s dann gelassen. Hast Du den aktuellen Lidl Flieger oder den vom Vorjahr? Der von 2021 hat eine andere Fluggeometrie. Der von 2022 ist der gleiche wie 2020 und die Vorjahre und ist identisch mit meinem. Deine Startmethode ist auch die die ich am meisten anwende. Werde mal Versuche mit weniger Motorsturz machen

@@bavarian_rc ich weiß nicht mehr genau, wann ich den gekauft habe. Ich hatte noch 2 Modelle im Vorrat. Es ist bestimmt schon 2-3 Jahre her. Ich habe auch den Umbau etwas anders gemacht. Da die Original Endleiste mit 5 - 6 mm ziemlich dick ist, habe ich eine Balsendleiste aus dem Handel mit 6x40 mm als Ruder hinten angesetzt. Außer habe ich die gesamte Endkante begradigt, indem ich einen geraden Schnitt vom Randbogen bis zur Wurzel gemacht habe. Der Dickenunterschied des Endleistenverlaufs zur Mitte hin macht nur wenig aus. Der Flächenzuwachs durch die angesetzten und nicht ausgeschnittenen Ruder erniedrigt die Flächenbelastung, die durch den ordentlichen Bleiballast zusätzlich zum 3 s 1300 mAh Lipo sonst recht hoch geworden wäre.

Die dicke Endkante ist die gleiche Version wie meiner. Da du aber die Ruder hinten angesetzt hast verändert sich die Aerodynamik. Meiner hat auch leicht die Tendenz ohne Motor die Nase runter zu nehmen. Würde als etwas weniger Motorsturz vertragen, was zu Deiner Erfahrung passt. Hauptsache am Ende fliegt er! 😃 Viel Spaß!!!

The dihedral on the original wing is stabilizing the plane along the longitudinal axis, which is ok for a slow flyer or trainer. But what I wanted is something fast and agile. That‘s why I removed the dihedral and made the wing completely flat.
