PROPER JOB FELLA ! Down to earth ,no falseness like the idea , used to throw a pegged out ground sheet over our old Transit van two poles ,roped & pegged down , will be giving the try . Keep well & safe .☮️❤️👍👨🏻🌾🐑✊️😁
Cheers mate. I used a tarp and two washing line poles first. was a bit of a faff getting it out and setting up. But this idea can be left on van and set up in a matter of minutes
Great video Tom, I was going to have a hunt around the diy shops to look for some modifiable bits myself so you've saved me a lot of legwork. Will look forward to making this thanks for all the tips.
I've watched several canopy vids lately and it is so cool to see capable kindred spirits share their common sense which is almost universal amongst alternative dwellers .my challenge is to keep mine switchable, fully adjustabe easily transferred from crv to overland trailer with rooftop tent! so i think 6 adjustable poles will be the way i go.
Great video - easy to follow and not too distracting. One of the better awning designs for diy as well! Although you mention in video, a great addition to diy vids would be a parts list. Thanks!
I made one slightly different, but the result during a windy night was the same..ha ha!.. I made a bigger one which goes over the van too, acting like a safari roof. But awnings are not for windy days, even the proper ones. I have a Vivaro and we are both okay with our slimline awnings, but in France the Autoroute class 1 charge is limited to 2 metres height and our vans are 1.94, so only 6 cm to play with. The Vivaro/Trafic is the best van for a campervan. My daughter has a self build Trafic.
Great video I’ve got all parts to put it together but living in Scotland means it’s not going to be finished this year as it’s been peeing it down for weeks Any chance you could do a video showing how trap is fitted where side poles fit into end bar ,only thing I’ve done so far is fit poles into c channel but I used some alloy tubes to fit over bolts to save plastic handles of poles
I was gonna use a 3x3 Tarp. But I ended getting some Canvas material from eBay. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WATERPROOF-FABRIC-4oz-CANVAS-COATED-Outdoor-Tarpaulins-Covers-Awnings-Strong-/273291191585?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
I got it from wicks. you should be able to get it from Homebase or any hardware shop, I was gonna use two 90 deg angled alloy and just bolt or rivet them together put I found that c-channel, good luck buddy
