Nice build. Your presentation is clearer than many, I've seen. 👍 I really like the fact the switch kills both sides of the wiring; mo' safety is mo' bettah. Glad to know I'm not the only one to get "Kill It with Fire!" angry at my mistakes 😅

Can always apply heat with a heat gun or a propane torch to warm up any metal before bending it. Makes the labor a bit easier.

Have to agree with other posts you’ve made it simple as compared to many others that I have looked at but then you turned around and provide sources for the parts...... Can’t get any easier.

@@thecraftingbrothers9448 I just have a question I have a 5v 3a power cable and I want to use the same dimmer as you does it work since it's 12v 8a?

@@thecraftingbrothers9448 Or do I need a controller or is it enough with an on/off switch?
@thecraftingbrothers9448
@thecraftingbrothers9448 3 года назад
@@mrfriedpickle7495 Not really sure... you can try it and perhaps all you need to do is turn down the dimmer switch to avoid burning out the wire.
@briandellinger8235

Maybe this is a stupid question - how dangerous is it to have the current running up through the zinc bar? Like, obviously you don't want to touch the wire itself; how bad is accidentally touching the bar while the power is on?

10:18 is there some reason why you wouldn't just notch the Zinc bar instead of epoxying a nail and going through all that mess? Seems like it would make a better electrical contact as well.
@thecraftingbrothers9448
@thecraftingbrothers9448 3 года назад
Hi, that is a great question and the answer is yes, you can absolutely cut a notch instead of using a nail in the end. Just make sure the loop on the end of the spring fits on the Zinc bar and that should work perfectly. Good luck, I use mine almost every day!

Is it possible to make this without the dimmer switch?
@thecraftingbrothers9448
@thecraftingbrothers9448 3 года назад
You really need that to control the heat of the cutting wire. Without it, you will most likely burn the wire out every time. Also, you will want to control temperature for cutting thick foam vs. thin.
