I come a cross your channel last year and I enjoy your videos, I'm just getting into the RC boats, I love the Hydroplanes, my father and brother have built and raced the real thing, I took up super dirt late models to make a name for myself in the family, I hope to buy my first real Hydro this year, just a 4 cylinder, and in one of your videos, I see that you real know a lot about them as well, I live right on the river bank of the Ohio river, so I will be able to play with both of them in my back yard, so I alwas have liked RC boats, so I will be getting my first one here very soon, they look like a lot of fun and it will keep my mind on the big picture lol, it's good to see you back and I will be watching this built and I can't wait to see the finished product

Hey if you're serious I know of a really excellent 2.5 stock for sale. Jump on any of the hydro related Facebook pages or just search for Gene DeFalco. The boat is a weird pale yellow color so it looks kinda ugly (just a personal opinion), but it's fast and well maintained. It has one of my engines in it, though it's been refreshed by someone else so I can't be sure if it's exactly as I built it. Should be close though

Quick hydro ? I have a ul-19 and removed a lot of the inner tray that everything mounts to and now if i choose to can move my batteries from their normal outboard spot in closer to the center line. The boat balances and runs great with the batteries in their forward position. My question is will moving the batteries about 3-4 inches inboard towards the centerline be a good or bad idea. Thanks for the videos and all the great info and taking time to explain what,how and why. Its rare and greatly appreciated when somone that really knoes what hes talking about and takes the time to do a nice video and explain thingscompletely. My sincerest THANKS Gary

Thank You very much for the quick response. Ill no doubt try it at some point and let you know what i think for whatever thats worth lol. Been doing r/c over 30 years.,planes cars , quads, helis, but new to boats. They seem very simple at first glance but man what an illusion 🤣 I gotta say everytime i gofull triggeron my hydro i dont breathe until i lift a little lmao,too much fun.
@gman19696
@gman19696 Год назад
After trying normal outboard set up with the new motor and esc i think my first move will be to move the right battery in close to centerline and leave the left alone to try and counter the torque moving weight around and since im running 6 cell batteries thats likely all i may be able to get away with. Ill let you know if it works or if i have a cheap hydro for sale😆😆😆

Hi Scott. Since you are making significant modifications to the Nitro Eliminator do you have recommendations for making this an electric as opposed to nitro? Would you suggest going with an identical package as you used on the Electro Eliminator conversion that you did a year or so back or would you go with some different hardware and power package due to the differences between the old and the new?
@M5PerfHydros
@M5PerfHydros 10 месяцев назад
The original Electro Eliminator had a good motor but an outdated control package. For this too I'd send you to Bill Brandt who has all the newest stuff available. Just ask him for the same package he has in his newest boat which is super fast and reliable. This new Eliminator should run awesome on it. With that in mind however, you really should consider building a different boat, something that you could bring and race with us. So much more fun than paddling around by yourself!
@mmccormack58
@mmccormack58 10 месяцев назад
I agree about a different boat. However, as I am sitting here looking at the Eliminator kit that just arrived yesterday I have already committed. By chance can you think of another boat that could be built from this kit that might qualify for racing in the club? My preference would be to maintain the same geometry with a possible redesigned cowl or something. Something to think about anyway. Thanks Scott and please let me know if you come up with any creative ideas. All part of the learning curve for me.

Planning on building the 1/10th Scale Newton 132/ MHR 8012 Kit from ML boat works and have to say compared to zippkits im pretty intimidated... is this the standard build steps for all the kits? or is this one just custom? im kinda struggling with just finding the build instructions on the site...
@M5PerfHydros
@M5PerfHydros 2 месяца назад
Ya the ML kits are pieces only, and you have to figure out the rest. But that's the fun part for me. Anyone can build a toy boat, but the ML boats are serious racing machines! Every boat will be a little bit different, but if you follow my general building techniques you should be able to assemble pretty much anything.

@M5PerfHydros
@M5PerfHydros Год назад
I'm kinda partial to finnish ply that I get from Aircraft Spruce. I use 1mm for upper decking and 1.5mm for all bottom pieces and framing. Good domestic ply is available from Balsa USA, and I do have a bunch of this on hand too. I use it when I'm not so concerned about the appearance, because it's not quite as pretty as the finnish stuff. www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/wppages/finnishbirch.php shop.balsausa.com/category_s/1656.htm
