I like this short because it’s the only one out of all of them that I watched that mentioned to Not! Cure the slip layer. Thanks for the tip ☺️. Very helpful
I’ve been doing builder gel overlay for months now and this is truly a golden nugget of information 🤯 I have a feeling this tip will push my sets to the next level 🖤
@@berniceshed yes if you want color. It adds strength, keeps them from breaking, and protects the nail because it stays on and you only fill the new growth.
@@berniceshed yeah exactly what OP said, it adds so so much strength. My nails are super long from maintaining a permanent builder gel overlay for the past 8 months. I use colored builder gel because I’m usually tired after doing the overlay then I’ll add color over it on another day when I have more energy
@@baegonia thank you both so much for responding! I’m looking forward to doing this! My nails grow long but they chip and break right at the edge every time 😭
Omg the tip on not applying all the way to the sides- so helpful- yet obvious 🤦♀️ lol. Will deff be trying that next time!! Even with the turning over was having issues with curing - even flash cure then turning upside down again.
I always apply everywhere cus thats what i see everyone doing and some of my nails come out bulky. I will be trying this im a couple of weeks when i do my nails
Oh my goodness thank you! I’ve been working on doing my nails from home, and have recently been looking into builder/structure gel. This helps so much❤❤❤
I do my own, have done for years, but that's a genius but of info, have a slip later and then done go all the way to the side walls. makes so much sense
Literally the reason i came to the comments ro check 😂 I think she's talking about the 1st layer of builder she put on the entire nail. She didn't put it in to cure so it would've stayed wet i think. I'm so addicted to these videos 😂
That’s not really necessary and you’d probably end up with more of a mess. Just work on the application and if you accidentally touch the skin, remove it right away. If it’s cured, use a thin efile bit to remove it to prevent lifting 👌🏻
If I’m not mistaken. A slip layer is a coat of builder gel you put on the whole nail bed or nail bed with tip. You do this step first. Then apply your builder gel bead and the slip layer will help guide it through. I mean you still have to work it down the nail but it helps tremendously to help it flow.
Yes hard gel too but it depends on the gel that you’re using. This is a self-leveling gel. If your gel is not self-leveling than you may need to work with it differently ☺️ every brand has different viscosities
I have a hard time with longer structured nails. I feel like I fill them appropriately and still have an apex and yet my client nails will break if they are too long. How do I get them to stop breaking !
The gel you’re using may not be strong enough to support the clients nails at that length. You may need to switch to something stronger like hard gel. 💖
Would this work for very thin sensitive nails? Even with any coat (base, color, top coat) I get a really strong burning sensation with thin layers of gel.
If your gel is super runny then you do need to work quickly! Try a less runny gel for more working time…. Or put your gel in the fridge for a few min 😉
@@NailsByKatieDutra I tried your tip from the video again last night and it came out a lot better it's just I can only do 2 layers before having to cure it and do it again. The product I use is Aliver 5 in one builder gel, I think I just need practice I have wider and slightly flatter nail beds than yours. The other down side is it doesn't last long and starts coming up even when I filed, used a primer/dehydrater and base coast. All different combinations so I'll have to find a decent base and maybe top coat I believe. 😩 But thank you so much for trying to be helpful the video definitely was! 💜🤗
by 2 layers do you mean 2 nails at a time? because I only do one a time 😄 you won't be able to do all the nails at once when using a self-leveling gel, otherwise you will definitely have cuticle flooding. I work back and forth doing one nail at a time. 😄
A builder gel is any gel that you can use to “build” up structure on a nail. A rubber base is a flexible base gel. This is definitely not a rubber base, because it’s a harder material, less flexible, and you can build an apex.
