The intake on the P-51 is for the supercharger. The flap at the back opens at low altitude to vent extra air as the supercharger is meant to suck in extra air to maintain performance at high altitude and at low altitude the extra air would blow up the engine

By doing some conversion, your fighter in A version has about 1550HP, that's not too bad. Most late WW2 fighters did cap at around 2000HP.

You could maybe do an air to ground variant of this. In the early stages of war there were many of these airframes but the bomber wasn’t enough. So engineers got rid of the .50 cal in the nose and added a stronger engine (not the late war one tho, just a 15% stronger one maybe) while also adding 4x 20mm gunpods (Bf109 style maybe) to the wings, and ability to carry rockets and 1/2 bombs. Maybe also the livery was changed, adding a sort of terrain-like pattern (brown and green patches basically). Idk, this sounds fun in my mind

Just a bit of a tip for WW2 engines. For planes of that era, they hardly ever had a bore stroke ratio of over 1.0 due to the much larger stresses on the engine causing unreliability, and your engine is about equivalent to a modern F1 car in that regard. Also radial engines used almost exclusively 2 valves for the majority of the war for simplicity.

Oh the many ways this game can be played! While you make 1940s style plane, i do Star Wars N1 starfighters😂 Idk how i managed to get it to flight "straight", but it works... kind of.

i wounder what a ww2 fighter would look like with modern technology, horizontal stabilizer that moves completly, turbo prop (or very powerfull piston engine), m61vulcan , modern avionics, i think it would look cool like a hyperprop

Maybe call it the windpipe? it seems longer and maybe the pilots use their gliding capabilities to float like an empty pipe.

5-6 hours for a flyout build isn't even that much. My builds usually take around 10-15 hours

What about sprocket it has had so many updates including backwards compatibility

I find it quite ironic you build prop planes that don’t want to climb and mine do better in a climb and always want to ascend to the heavens at a moments notice instead of flying level when not trimmed. I think it’s you have too low Hp and torque or your gearbox is not providing enough torque due to gearing. I think I have the complete opposite problem I tend to make too much torque and it requires large propeller angles to compensate.
