Just found your channel. Love it. I’ve been a auto tech for over 45 years and a Dodge Diesel owner, 2000 2nd gen 24 valve since 2002. California’s emissions programs are asinine so a build from a gas model to a diesel would be questionable but anything pre 97 diesel I could get through the state with. If I do one I’m going to go with a 24 valve with the P-pump conversion and an Allison transmission, wife can’t drive a stick.

Paint it Phytonic Blue Metallic, it’s a BMW color code from newer models and it really looks wonderful out in the sun. I’m going to paint one of my trucks that color!

I personally would love to see a 2 tone done on the truck, my personal choice would be dark Forrest green metallic on top and bottom with a graphite center, as for the name of the truck, Larry the long bed for sure

i wanted a crew cab 4x4 for so long and they were so hard to find and i made an offer on Ebay for 16k and it did not make the reserve, later on i seen it it sale for 20K in Denver at World wide vintage. now it seems like these things are popping up all over now that the diesel swap is so popular. wife would love to see me sell mine for any price ( kids named it THE BEAST)

I dont see how you find so many crew cabs. I've been looking for years and everyone has a rusted out shell for sell for 20k 30k 40k ect. And half the time they are gassers that don't run or missing interior. I've always wanted one. Just seems impossible. I do enjoy seeing other people living my dream. I enjoy from afar.

Awesome project Tim! Looks like it will be a fun build. I have not seen a frame stretched that way before, Very interesting. At 7:00 you talk about the front suspension, That looks like a drop hanger setup that looks similar to Jungles HD products on RCC and longer Shackles, looks to be about a 4" Drop hanger. Im pretty confident as flat as those springs are with no motor on them that those are not Skyjacker 6" lift springs unless they are completely worn out. Do they have the Skyjacker number still painted on them maybe they are 2 inch lift? Also looks like it has the Jungle upgraded frame bushing on the front springs too. This is going to be one Awesome Project Tim !

I also didn't think they looked like lift springs but i didn't know what system it was. I can't find a part number anywhere. Glad to see you pointed this out, I was checking the comments to see if anyone else noticed the dropped hangers. And I agree with your statement that they don't look like 6in springs being as flat as they are. Tim, for color I always liked the intense blue used on the second gen trucks, but I think a darker blue or black would also be great.

I made door panels out with a wood frame, felt and fiberglass resin. You can create them to look like you want them to be. This week, I just added a leather strap to them for pull handles. My panels are not great, as I was rushed. It isn't that hard to do as long as you build the wooden frames and felt all at the same time.

The crackhead who patched the floor is the same crackhead who cut the hardware off the frame and gouged into the frame with the cutting disc. This truck is very clean and is an excellent candidate for a build! So glad you saved it!!!

As far as color I would think some unique gray that differs from the OG crew cab, because I think it would go great with the name I think suits it best…Rocky! You live in the mountains with that beautiful backdrop in every video, and the truck right now looks like it has a big lift. I could probably come up with 200 more reasons to name it Rocky if I took the time.

I'm in the process of doing the KDP tab on my 91.5' cummins. I read online that i should also lock tite and retorque a handful of bolts while im in there. Is there a write-up somewhere i can reference as to what bolts need this done and what torque i should be torqueing these bolts too? Thanks!

There should be a writeup on the forums of this. You have to turn the engine over to access this through the holes in the cam gear. Torque spec is 18 ft lbs if i remember correctly.

@Decent Garage I have a 1991 w250 first gen I am trying to track down the crossmembers that hold the fuel tank both of them have rotted off the truck. I have tried LMC truck and other places along with many junkyards in my area with no luck so far. If anybody knows or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated I am located in CT but willing to travel.
