Tip When cutting wire for fire rings get an old tin can or piston ring compressor or other bit of tube that is a fraction larger than the ring groove then wrap the wire around it and cut the wire with a small cut off blade on a Dremel or similar device . Note if you get the size of the tube just right you can cut either straight or diagonal and the wire will fit perfectly.

There was a time when I was one of 8 people who were desperately broke! My brother in law was the only one of us who had a job. He was the only one of us who had a vehicle, it was an old dodge 1/2 ton with an inline 6 in it.One weekend the dodge spun a rod bearing. The truck was critical, no truck no job! We found another engine that had a cracked block. We could scrape together enough cash for a gasket set but that was it! Between the two engines we got a running engine built that weekend. It lasted long enough that we all got jobs and and cars. I remember that we all expected to see that engine come apart every time it was started. The truck is still in the family. My brother in law has passed so his son got the truck . He has restored it and it still has the same type of engine. The original engine beyond rebuilding.
