It is the spring loaded rod that pulls the thread so it's taught, but not too tight.

I c-clamp it to the bench. Even grips are not enough because the whole unit is still pretty light.

I did not really measure anything. This is built out of some scrap from an old broken shelf. It was basically put it in place, mark it, and cut it to fit.

Yeah, I fixed the audio so the music wasn't blasting people's ears off. And i would love to put more shop dog in my videos, but he's very old, and not much into doing anything these days more than just laying around.
