Hey guys we're back with this Defender 90! In this series we're showing you how we swap a 2.4 TDCI for a BMW X5 Engine!
In today's episode we finally get this engine running!! Leon stayed late to get this vehicle to where it needs to be and we encounter yet more problems....

What an amazing build, being the owner of this fantastic vehicle and seeing all the hard professional work which Sam and his team have put in, cannot recommend highly enough, i am sure i will be back for some more upgrades. You did a hell of a job to get this beast running! Very well done guys. Love basically all you did in this conversion except the exhaust system. Like you said it’s just to loud and making the vehicle scream like a crazy race car. Sound is not only volume. I would connect a conversion of a Defender like this with a deep growling, more calm sound underlining it’s power and not this screaming sound which disqualify the car to use it as a daily driver in my opinion. 😎👍

A little surprised by the sound the BMW lump, but really happy how the team persevered with the build. Probably the best engine work you have done on the channel. Next up should be a BMW twin scroll six pot petrol conversion.

such a sweet result, AMAZING!!!!! lovely rude engine sound GREAT JOB!!!!! I loved this mod since bmw is my other favorite brand and I like it so the combination of a land rover with a bm engine is so cool, and yeah regarding to do it with an automatic gear box go ahead with all crazy mods as possible Juice you rock!

Love it .. wasnt happy with my 530D but the map you can do on these is crazy 😜 also check the lugs on the vacuum pump on end of cam .. mine broke the lugs and I had no brakes ..at speed

Awesome, as you say, perfect engine for a swap…LS swap and you’ve got a brave pill to swallow when it comes to fuel consumption . Thanks for documenting it. Suspect the best way around getting the right engine would be to buy a complete donor car in the first place….that way it’d allow you to test the engine whilst in running gear…may save some labour efforts later on.

Perseverance paid off, great conversion one of the best engines for the Defender, any torque figuars as seems to pull well in all gears just wonder how it goes in low range in off road situations.

I've enjoyed every moment of this clip Sam. You guys have did a fantastic job- j enjoyed the trouble shooting most; having watched Project M57, I knew the fuel pump would be possible cause of the cranking problem. You however didn't specify the BMW engine you mounted- I'm assuming that it's the DM57 married to the 6speed LT gearbox right? I'm about to do the same with my 300TDI. Right after I find a buyer for my kidney 😁😁

Hey guys... wonderful work... looking outstanding, impressive! Following you for quite some time, but I apparently missed something: Is this really a 3.0 diesel? Would this engine and all its components fit in a LR Discovery 3 or 4? I'm getting so many ideas, seeing what you do to get a Juice car!
