It might feel like slow progress on the day, but if you step back for a pause you have come _so_ far in a short period of time! You’ve been cramming on so many different topics and skills it is just incredible! From excavating, welding, carpentry, renovation, metal work, videography and editing. Everything has come so far in such a short span. Absolutely brilliant!
Thank you so much and you’re so right, it’s all been such a big learning curve too with long jobs but it’s all beginning to take shape and it’s going to be so worth it 🙏🙏☺️
It's a marathon not a sprint. You are smashing it lovely xx It is so inspiring the amount of women on youtube who are taking on building for themselves. With love from an old bird in England x
Thank you so much, that’s so lovely to hear! I’m getting there day by day and jobs like this will definitely take longer than others but it’s all getting me closer to the dream 😍 thank you for being here 🙏☺️
I've came in half way through your journey, always been curious about container houses , but my goodness you are a force of nature ! Jeez , your determination and drive is truly inspiring, its also been an eye opener , I had no idea it rained so much in Australia , I thought it was only like that here in Scotland 🤣 roll on next Sunday ✌️
You might feel like it's slow progress being there day to day, but from someone outside looking in, you have achieved so much. So proud of the progress you've made. Sending love from our family to you. Keep up the amazing work.
As a retired Welder/Electrician.. DO NOT use the old welding hood if it has any scratches in the lens.. It will let the UVR light in and do Much damage to ur delicate Eyes.. Thanx and weld safely.. 😁
Thank you so much! It’s definitely a lot of work alone but I just keep viewing it in small chunks so I don’t get overwhelmed and everytime I get to do something new it’s very exciting so it’s not hard to stay motivated which is good ☺️🙏
Jas so hope you go through with the refund on the 9” grinder, that’s really worrying me. You’re amazing mate, I so admire you. Oh hell Jas our dam use to flood so badly too. See you next week, thanks for the great video. ❤️
Ohhhh dear the more u go thru the puddle the more deeper and the more ruts… maybe park on the other side of it for now until it can dry up or till u can get some gravel down or whatever.. just a suggestion!!!! Great job on welding so impressive!!!!
You should consider building a concrete or pipe overflow for your pond at the low point of the sides. If it gets too full and starts to pour over the built up sides it will erode the soil and the whole side will fail.
I loved the ELVIS touch in your video young lady !! He was the best . I have seen him 7 times in concert way back from 1970 till his passing . . I am in America what we call an ELVIS FREAK ! , went to Graceland two times once in 1972 ( he was home ) the second time in 1997. Went through the house . the feeling I got was hard to explain , felt like I was breaking the law . Didn't belong there , what ever . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA USA.
Yeah you’re gonna need either some old road chip or a bunch of gravel to raise that driveway so you don’t get stuck. You’re doing great. Keep up the good work. 😊
that grinder is barred from every work site in australia please dont use it. trade it for something you need .your rocking along dont get hurt .love your channel
Keep it up Aussie Bad Ass. Like your progress as always. With flat metal if you need a bend, figure out what would help, place it on wood or whatever is around overnight and it will help get those curves. Cheers mate :)
Hi Jas, Great work on the welding. Those older style helmet is a bit harder to use once used to the new one. With the older one, if you leave the helmet down and open the glass flap, then a sharp nod of the head will close it, allowing you to keep your hands where they need to be. Decay Melbourne Australia
Hey Decay! Yeah I’m definitely a fan of the newer ones for sure! I’m glad to have a battery again, and spares 😂 even just pulling that flap down by the end of the day I had scratches all over my nose 😂
Hey jas, Can I offer a suggestion, you might want to put a big fan inside to blow out all that toxic smoke while you are welding and grinding. It's not the best for your health to breath in all that crap. You are doing a great job, cheers all the best. 😉
G'day Darl...If your keeping the 9inch grind..make sure you review how to use it..thay are bloody dangerous. Make sure your hair is up in a bun and well away from the blade..Enjoy!
This is so fun to watch! I live in Texas and am waiting for temps to drop below 100°F so I can tackle some outdoor projects. You’ve inspired me to do more myself instead of waiting for my husband to be there to help!
Hi Jaz, just some welding tips for you. With new steel it has skale on the surfaces to protect it, if you use a flapper disc to knock off the edges where you're welding it will be easier and a better weld. And big cap use tig wire as a filler to build up the gap while mig welding. Awesome work as usual
Hi Jazz, I think it’s very cool that you have overcome any fears of welding but if you want to stay safe, any power leads external try and keep off the ground. Would love to see you. Finish your project, healthy and safe. See you on the road Andy.👍
You definitely need an overflow drain pipe that stops water from running across your dam, it should run through a culvert instead. Not like you have much to do there anyways. Lol. Keep going. Closer everyday. Not many have the bollocks to take on a project of this scale. You are amazing with a great spirit.
You never cease to amaze me,your talent, your convictions your willingness to learn new things and skills.your just killing it.still worried about your hair, need to pickup a welders cap, will be helpful.just keep doing your thing and carry on,be safe.impressive,impressive.you are one of a kind 😎😎😎👍👍👍
You're a superstar Jas. Another enjoyable video and more progress made on your amazing journey. Omg what a downpour of rain. Hang in there winter is almost done 😊
Love your videos I’m always wanting MORE haha this is so inspiring to me, trying to find a way around this housing crisis. You’re doing an amazing job ❤
Buy yourself a “plasma cutter” they are not expensive, but make your life much easier, faster and more accurate when you have to cut so much steel. Good job!❤
We’re all proud of you! Doing great Jas! Welding skills are great. Mines and oil rig workers make 6 figures welding. We need female reps in those positions. You could do it easily with yr positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges. Glad to see boss lady keeping an eye on proceedings! 😊
Thank you so much! I’ve been shocked at how much I’ve enjoyed it! I would love to take an actually course one day ! That would be awesome and yes boss lady always over seeing everything 😂☺️
I'm from England and I've just started 2 watch u on youtube. U r a truly amazing person and woman and a lush personality. And I'm look forward 2 watch more of your videos.
You're kicking ass and you're an inspiration for me to start on my sailboat build. And yeah, 9 inch grinders can be brutal. Trust your gut on that one. Keep up the great work and the good vibes. ❤️🏴☠️
Great stuff. Pro tip get some gas for the mig and the welding wire to suit, it will be so much easier to weld and the welds will look a lot nicer and be stronger. Also use the tip that’s meant to be on the welding gun it will help contains the gas let of by the gasless mig wire or gas if you go gas. Helps keep a pure atmosphere above the welds as you weld. And spray the welds with cold galv spray once you have done them. ✌️
Thank you so much! Yeah it’s a lot , I have to view it in small sections so I don’t get overwhelmed but I’m still enjoying every second and each new little thing excites me so much! ☺️🥰
awesome!! i am learning so much watching the containers change. I made a fence for the front yard this week. now the dogs can go out the front with out the council yelling at me 🎉
If there were two of you working on this project you'd be just about finished. Wish you could bottle up some of that energy you have and send me some. Getting old is hell.
Good call on the 9 inch mate, had a mate who was using one squatting when the blade exploded and cut a big hole in his groin just missing his junk…not pretty. Other options for cutting steel is an oxy kit or a circular saw with a tungsten blade. I have used them myself and they are quick cutting and lightweight
Oh shit that sounds lucky and horrible all in one! Poor bloke, yeah as soon as I picked it up I knew it wasn’t happened and after seeing the size of the discs , thank you for the advice ☺️🙏
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jashi don't know if you get the brand evolution in Oz, they make a circular saw with blades for cutting metal would be perfect for that container sheeting
I have one actually 🙌 honestly I just can’t get past the speed of the grinder it cuts through like butter it’s so satisfying haha! Thank you so much! ☺️
I so love watching just how enthusiastic you are when you start a job and finish a job always wonder i hope you have a partner or boyfriend to help you at times because unbelievable just how you put your heart and soul into this. Just keep doing what your doing and enjoy the experience.
Just a thought Jazz , you could make a smaller dam closer to your garden area and run some aggy pipe a foot dpwn from one of your dam spill off points to the secondry dam and use it for your garden and it wouldnt get wasted . Doing an awesome job on the containers and all your skills are rapidly improving , well done mate , strange seeing you all rugged up all the time 🙏
Hi, not sure if anyone has mentioned this, when you finish welding switch the welding helmet to GRIND it won't flatten the battery. As the darken feature is what uses power. Also the little solar panel in the front charges the battery as you weld. Happy welding.
Have you seen Rockpile off-grid Homestead, they're WA'ers to. They just had a solar power information video out. Was great, I know you're not quite there yet, but very useful info.
Hi Jas, we've been loving the content and the different opinions in the comments that are giving you an extra learning curb while accomplishing your goals. We're about to start the same sort of container home using a couple of 40ft one's. What I'd be interested to know is the council processes and all the other must haves before start up. A rough estimate of fees involved to if possible. Cheers and keep up the good work your a real inspiration.
If you're able to rent, borrow or buy, highly recommend a plasma cutter. This tool will save you hours of using cutting disc and grinding down the extra material after. Plus when you start cutting windows it can cut super straight and clean. Whatever you decide, love the content and keep pushing through the hard days.
so i have watched quite a few of your videos now, and when first watched and seeing how you do things and use power tools i thought to myself i hope this girl has got ambulance cover, but today you picked up that grinder and cut that plate freehand like a boss you looked very confident and that you had been doing it for years way to go. Also you cant complain about how slow it is with one person, we all know we would come and give you a hand with it, and we all know you would only just chase us all off with that snake of yours hahahahahaha
Yep definitely some sick welding skills there Container Monkey. Am I a bad person for laughing uncontrollably when you tried lifting the grinder?? Yeah definitely take that back cos that absolutely would be a looney tunes moment. I mean you probably could use a nibbler but they can be pretty pricey for thicker diameter steel. I cannot believe how fast your dam filled, that’s crazy, and you can’t even raise the walls because you would have to dismantle the jetty. Having said that no doubt you will come up with some genuinely inventive solution using bits and bobs and a pocket knife or something. Love Your Work Mate 🧡
Thank you!! I’m so surprised how much I love welding! 😂😂😂 no not at all I laugh at all that kind of shit , and wow I was not expecting the weight of that hey , and I was definitely imagining leaving that container with less fingers than I came in with! 😂😂 The dam is overflowing even more now , literally all the earth at the bottom of my property is soaked with water , I definitely need to set the land up to catch it more 😍
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas you’re welcome, credit where it’s due. I suppose this is the first real test of how the water will flow across the land after some changes so now you can plan for the future even better. I have absolutely no doubt you will get it done. Perhaps metalwork art will be a new career path for you ?
nice tip for you: if you have gaps on the piece of steel youre trying to weld and the container just weld where its touching, with all the pieces welded just hammer the bow in the steel so it will touch and the weld will be much easyer, sorry for the bad english im italian :')
Wow, pro welder already.. The first welds looks so good and ofc you can't get good results with a wrong wire... happens ! Vertical welding is not a joke, and I'm still SO impressed ! And I just realized how much you could really do with those container cutoffs. You got materials for days, which is just banger 🙂
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas hehe... no worries... I did the exact same on the stick welder... stuff like that just happens and then we learn in a way we won't forget ❤❤
The work you are doing is amazing. When welding try stitch welding. Weld 2" the skip an inch then weld 2". It'll save wire and if you get any cracking it will not go that far.
