After a rollercoaster of a week last week I thought I deserved to treat myself and make the project I've been dreaming of since I moved off grid!
I built a DIY woodfired bathtub using an old rainwater tank and some recycled pallets. The whole project was very simple and cheap because I just used materials I already had laying around the homestead!
This is one of my favourite builds ever and I can't wait to evolve the area with a shower and water catchment system.

Hi there 😊 You should try gripping the hammer a bit further down the handle. It will significantly speed up the nailing in process.

Think you could do with a water pump and a water filter. You could even make a water filter using a bottom layer of charcoal, a middle layer of sand and a top layer of grass.

Love your work, just one tip, don't "choke " the hammer, hold it further down the handle, it will be easy to hammer nails in with less swings needed and your hand wont get tired, gives you more power with the swing with less effort.👍

Our pool in the 70s was a water tank. It's still in use, the only thing that's been replaced is the decking around it.

a) Good Morning !! b) I love the natural cement. Please give updates on how it holds together over the next couple years. c) Any issues with getting the bath water too hot? I mean, there's no on/off switch on the fire, and putting a inline valve in the copper tubing would be questionable at best (super heated steam trapped in soft copper pipe = rupture potential) Maybe I'm thinking too much? d) 3 more walls and a roof, and your bath house (replacing the container house) is complete. e) Last chook is best chook. It's good to have a friend who wants to hang out. Even if they eat bugs and drop feathers all over the place. This time I don't have to say "Enjoy"... it's obvious you have that part of life covered quite well.

Love your work, you are a inspiration 😊 Just a quick one you have most likely already found out that the original paint on the drum would have burnt off your fire proof paint but if not don’t be discouraged by it, something I like is the natural burnt colour of the drum but to coat them in fire proof clear paint 👌🏻

Good Day, that was a great project, if you have some Tarpaulin sheeting you could make up some kits shapes to tie to the trees, to shield you from the sun and rain, you might be able to fit them in such a way that the rain will go into your container for the bath 🛀, good luck with your project, France.

Hi Jasmine. I had a thought...you should watch some videos of making water pumping without a pump or electricity. It can be done with some PVC piping or even a long hose and this would allow you to fill your tub from the creek without having to walk back and forth, plus you could even put a small filter on the end in the creek to keep all the debris from coming through. Definitely worth looking into as physics is your friend in this case 🙂 Either way, you're doing an awesome job 🤘

That bath looks soooo inviting, the steam coming off it, chuck some lavender cuttings in when you fire it up, I bet it would smell gorgeous. A tiny submersible pump and a cheap bag of chlorine would make the water last longer, fight algae amd make water transfer sooo much easier

Just an Idea... a smaller barrel with holes in it to insert on the inside of the copper coil--like a sleeve to protect the copper pipes from getting bent from wood and heat? maybe its overkill... thoughts?

Good stuff. You’re choking the hammer a bit, you’ll find it 10 times easier holding it more to the end of the handle rather than so close to the hammer head. Also live off grid in Victoria, love to see others doing it.

💕Fantastic I have a spare cast iron bath and have been planning on this same project inbetween building planting etc, so thank you for your inspiration.🙏 FYI Mitre 10 sell a $17 pump that you attach to yr drill. I’m thinking you could take a hose to yr lovely dam and kick start the water inflow w the drill pump.

Great vid as always. I have a small idea that may help. If termites are a problem where you are and they are here in Southern Victoria before you put your post in mix a little diatomaceous earth with the soil at the bottom and add some in with the backfilling dirt mixing it in well. If termites try burrowing to the base of your post they die if they touch it. It is readily available on ebay. Hope it helps
