Kinda wish this was like a Netflix series where episode 1 to finale gets dropped so I can binge watch. Lol Picked up a 74 recently. About to get started now that the summer heat is done with. Don’t want to copy cat but there will be similarities lol Amazing work!!

The build seems to be going so well. I'm sure there are parts that don't go well and cause you to expand your language, but that's true with any build. Another enjoyable episode. Heck, you guys are video stars now and you deserve it.

Thanks Phil, always love your thoughtful comments. Our language has definitely... "evolved" 😅

Well done 👌🏼 I actually look at the power stop brakes for my Tundra, but instead ordered all new OEM GX460 stuff. It’s a big upgrade which will be nice

Worth checking/replacing the knock sensor harness under the intake manifold while you are there. They are known to get super brittle.

While changing the valve cover gaskets take the time and do a valve adjustment. It's a pretty simple yet time cosuming procedure that most people neglect on these motors. and yeah yotas live long lives but are not indestructable, especially with neglected maintenance. Having valves in spec is a big deal and is good to do at least once every 100k miles. In addition if you're not sure of the service history of the timing belt/ water pump take care of this crucial maintenance service as well. If traveling outside the U.S it's a good idea to carry an extra Timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat and corresponding gaskets and tools to change em. Totally a "rather have it and not need it then be stranded in some remote place without em items". Good on you guys for getting that chasis in tip top shape before heading off!!!!
@ToyotaWorldRunners
@ToyotaWorldRunners Год назад
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely check the valves and give them an adjustment while we have the covers off. Only 20K kms on the current Tbelt and water pump, but still might be a good idea to carry on board. Cheers!!🤙🍻

I love you you are doing everything yourself I have a 68 FJ40 and at the b beginning stages, am look at rebuilding the axles. Seems they are an 11 spline set up. And researching they can get stripped out? Trying to find out what to upgrade them to?

@@ToyotaWorldRunners I’m Brazilian and live in Nanaimo. I’d use WhatsApp and join the Toyota and/or the overland groups. We had a Land Rover in Brazil and had a huge community in WhatsApp groups. Let me know if you need some hint if you decide to follow this path. Best of luck!

Yep, one 160L fuel tank, and it's the stock 80 series chassis, no extension.

What is a fzedj ?
@ToyotaWorldRunners
@ToyotaWorldRunners Год назад
FZJ80 is the chassis code for the Land Cruiser we're using. Commonly known as an 80 series land cruiser. HZJ80, HDJ81, FJ80, FZJ80 etc are all other 80 series chassis codes.
