Building a decorative entrance on a shipping container

I love watching you work. I'm a 68 year old granny born before my time. When I was in HS girls were not allowed to take shop. My dad was handicapped so I became his hands in the home shop. I love tools, fixing things, and working on the house. I'm happily married to a man with zero handyman skills so I have plenty to do but I wish I had the shop you have.

Every time he does an upgrade on this badass fortress of a house, I grab the popcorn and watch in amazement.

You are a mad genius in the best possible way.

Andrew you seem like a very intelligent young man. One thing I was like you for along time. I thought I was indestructible with lifting heavy objects. Im 65 years old now and have chronic back and leg pains. I have had both hips replaced, one knee, both shoulders have had rotator cup surgery. Two back injections and around 30 quartizone shots in various spots. If I could change an thing in my life I would be much more careful with what I put my body through. I know your tough but; Im warning you now, chronic body pain is worse than death. I only hope you have not already done any permanent damage to yourself. Trust me this is no joke, you have to make use of tools to lift and move objects. Discipline yourself to use them or we do pay a terrible price with our bones and body. I hope you get this message and have not already done damage to yourself. Love watching you work. I feel my advice will go unheard, we just don't think we can be hurt when we are having so much fun. I am half way laughing and the other half in awe! I dabble in custom millworks after retiring. A standard exterior door thickness is 1 3/4 thick. The fact that you welded the extension on the junk they use to make the hardware blew me away (actually I can't believe you didn't fab something) anyway I am at a loss. Then! I think I want to bluestone the front of my house and bam! Midnight on your mountain grabbing a wheelbarrow full of bluestone! For those of you that ask when Andrew sleeps, how he gets so much done, etc etc. When you watch his videos and it looks sped up, I think he just works THAT fast

I have purchased numerous tools and power tools that I might not really need...because of Andrew...welder, plasma torch, grinders. metal cutters and so on. I keep telling myself they'll come in handy when I retire. Lots of skills demonstrated in this video.

I lucked out totally when I found this channel. I too put a decorative entrance on my container residence. Shortly after, a few ladies said, hey, perhaps this guy can make me a peg to hang my coat on, and, you know, things changed for me. But the kitchen cabinets are still full of engine parts. And so the battles go on

Gotta hand it to you Andrew, who would have thought of the conduit. I have been welding for many years, and wouldn't have even considered welding the pot metal those locks are made of. You are maybe the not so mad genius. Probable more like the happy genius. Love your dogs. Just lost my lab mix Buster after 14 years. Broke my heart. But those white Labs? are beautiful. By the way, the door and the entrance way are spectacular, What a great eye you have for the decorative stone enhancement. I love it.

Still binge watching, went out this morning and ran a 30 Ton Kamutsu PC300 excavator, because watching you is giving me the inspiration to start some projects. 25,000 hours but new tracks for 25K Canadian. yeah thats like a grand in U.S. dollars if you do the conversion, LOL! Not the easiest machine to move to different locations though. Thanks for the great videos.

I'm watching you construct your castle in the States from England. Now we British did not get any men on the moon but we do know a bit about castles. If I might make a suggestion perhaps your castle now needs a portcullis to protect your door to finish it off and with Andrews' skill level you should be able to knock one up in about 2 hours. A master a work and many thanks for your videos

You know what material is dominant in a man's building career when he's cutting his dowel plugs with an angle grinder all the time as if it was meant to. Fun fact: Looking very decent in the end. Art isn't constrained to tooling or orthodox methods. Thank's for sharing!

Andrew, It's great living in the country. No neighbors to complain about the noise, or the lights when you work all night. You can harvest blue stone at midnight and no one calls the cops. You can build what you want without asking permission from a city building inspector, (I'm sure you are the inspector on your jobs. You know what you're doing and do it right.) You work when you want, sleep when you have to. As long as you have the money flowing in, life is great. Just remember to save for the future, plan ahead for when you get too old for all the physical work that you do. And don't forget to have a life! Find a lady who is a good match for you. One who isn't afraid to get dirty and work with you in your business, who can operate all of the machinery you have, so if you need something while on a job, she can help. Having a woman in your life as a life partner and a business partner is a wonderful thing. --- Just some Fatherly advise from an old man with mobility issues, who's sitting alone on a Sat. night watching YT videos. By the way, that entrance looks fantastic !!! --- Work Smart. Stay Safe. Get some heat in the castle.
