awesome, I'd love to try something similar! I wonder if some inverter noise finds its way into keithley measurements?

Marco Reps, my hero! Love your channel man! It would be awesome to see you do a solar video... but not at the expense of the beloved Keithley measurements! I’ve yet to look at the quality/harmonics of the AC coming out of the Victron... something I will do eventually. Thanks for the comment :)

I can't belive this channel has so few subscribers. It's such high quality content, with stockfootage b-roll, excellent audio voice-over quality, very sharp picture and straight forward explanations. I'm so glad I stubbled here somehow. Keep up the good work and I can see you hitting milestones very soon.

remiUP yes, the editing takes almost as long as most of the projects. I’m also not very good on camera, so a lot of editing is necessary lol.

Hi Zack, Great video. Nice job. And I understood about 60 to 70% of the content (that's pretty good!). We are completing the construction of a small data center in a secure space at a dod facility. Every rack and piece of equipment is grounded. Although the walls of the spaces are gypsum board, fire-rated plywood is anchored to all the walls for easy mounting of anything. The vinyl flooring is static dissipative tile bonded to the grounding system. Even though the rooms have wet sprinklers, they also have dedicated portable fire extinguishers at each entrance. We have extensive and redundant cooling capacity. There are multiple levels of security to protect from unauthorized access. I really like your off grid installation. I think you have a future (when you are old and gray) as a college professor.

thanks Steve! that sounds like a cool project. i would really like to get ESD flooring for my lab but it is not cheap! I'd love to teach at some point in my life, I'm considering getting my masters for that reason.

@@ZacksLab Just an fyi Zack, this is the 1st project I have seen 200% Neutrals in all the power and lighting panels (except for the large 480V feeder panels. The vast majority of the loads on these panels are 277V LED lights and computers. Apparently, these produce large amounts of non-linear loads producing harmonics. I don't recall seeing 200% Neutrals with fluorescent or halogen lights in the past. I am not sure if this is a trend for the future. Additionally, I remember 20 years ago when the NEC was just contemplating TVSS. We had no surge suppressors before. On this project, every 480V and 208V panel has a surge suppression device. So, maybe this is another trend in construction. Take care. sj

Very nice setup! Your balance lead solution is extremely tidy! If you'd used larger panels then you could've used dssr20's instead of the mppt controller.

thanks! yes, i saw Dacian’s video about MPPT being obsolete in off-grid cases after buying these panels and the Victron, would have much preferred to go that route in hindsight. love Dacian’s hardware!

Awesome job! Have you tried running the reflow oven with this setup?
@ZacksLab
@ZacksLab 4 года назад
thanks Omar! Yes, the reflow oven is surprisingly efficient, a single cycle only consumes about 40 watt hours worth of energy. The soldering iron and hot air gun are the big hitters... I have to be careful not to leave the soldering iron on, as it still consumes a considerable amount of energy even in standby mode.

@@ZacksLab I'm from Iran, in fact we use the Persian calendar or the other name of that is the Solar Hijri calendar, it's based on astronomical calculations, any kind of video from you would be awesome😃, even a quick update, I'm sure the subscribers would appreciate that.

@@sembutininverse very interesting about the Persian calendar: "oldest calendars in the world, as well as the most accurate solar calendar in use today. Since the calendar uses astronomical calculation for determining the vernal equinox, it has no intrinsic error." yes, videos will come this year! my life has finally stabilized. I saw your other message about your concerns with censorship in Iran... I hope the Iranian people stay strong and fight any form of oppression on the human spirit. very happy to hear from you and for your encouragement, it means a lot to me to know people out in the world appreciate the time I put into videos. :)

@ZacksLab
@ZacksLab 3 года назад
hey Bill! thanks for the comment. haven't noticed any issues in test equipment or radios, the pure sine wave inverters are pretty clean. the modified sine wave inverters on the other hand have a quite a bit of harmonic noise/distortion and wouldn't recommend them if you're thinking of doing a similar set up. 73
