Go to the pet store and get a large canister filter with charcoal filtration for your garage pond to filter out ammonia from the fish waste this will help alot also if you can get some gravel from an established aquarium to put in the canister filter for the beneficial bacteria it contains and your fish will stop dying

As I said in the last video, without filtration the fish will not survive. Something has to remove the nitrates and ammonia. In a pond the plants do this process.

Also you should plumb the hatchery water to flow into the lake from the well so the water stays fresh so you can hold a larger volume of fish

@fishamons5439 yes the fish waste will remain but by using the well to constantly resupply the hatchery the ammonia gases will be purged out. He will need to keep a close eye on the PH level due to the acidity of the well water though

Water temp is a huge issue too. Using the well to feed would possibly help. He basically has a giant fish tank, and did nothing to cycle the pool.

deep water and steep banks means the fish wont be able to spawn so you wont have a hatchery more of a feed lot for fish. need a lot of water in the 0-4' range full of loose bedding material

Flair They all died because you cycled the little pond with the fish. You need to either add benificial bacteria or literally set it up fully and throw a little fish food in there and wait before adding fish. Just something to keep in mind, love the videos!

Once you've filled the pond, go buy some large floating plants to help with the biological load from the fish and also give them shade and shelter. Some fish actually lay eggs on plants and or the roots of floating plants. 😎

You should talk to PoolJet about getting your indoor hatchery working. He knows a lot about keeping fish alive. You need a filter, you need aeration, you need good bacteria, it has to be kept at the proper temperature, you gotta have the fish acclimated to the water, it needs to have the proper ph levels and other chemical levels, you should be using RO water instead of tap water, etc.. There will be some deaths, but not nearly as much as you're having. It's important to do the research on things so you don't have to do it twice.

You need a all in one fish starter kit. It’s a bunch of different drops you put in the water. It puts vitamins in the water and clears it up so it’s not dirty looking. They also have other drops in the kit for your ph. It will make your mini pool thrive and your big one your building. Just my opinion. Love your channel 👍

Minnow farming ain't easy. What you are after is Dissolved Oxygen, that's what keeps the fish alive. Other stuff too like ph , temp, and nitrogen levels. But pumping more air won't necessarily give you higher Dissolved Oxygen DO levels, you are pumped mostly nitrogen when you pump air. You need , at least for now, supplemental Oxygen. Get a stone and a welding bottle of O2, it's pure enough for fish. Pump some extra O2, that should help you keep more fish alive. Just a trickle of pure O2 will help tremendously. You can figure out a permanent solution later.

no matter what you do without filtration you are going to have ammonia build up inside outside size doesn't matter without some form of mechanical or artificial filtration. you also need to cycle the "pond" before adding the fish have the filtration and substrate in it for like a week before adding fish

Aeration is one thing but if you don't have something removing the nitrates and phosphates out of the water the fish are just going to die. You need to have something filtering that out of the water if you're keeping livestock in a small pond/pool. If the fish are constantly peeing/pooing in the water and there's nothing to remove that (and any uneaten food) it just builds up in the water. You want to get something that's rated 50% higher than the suggested water size so if the filter says its good for 200 gallons you want to get something that's rated for 300.

Flair! Did you ever look into the pump pressure and overcoming the back pressure from the pond? If you don’t have enough pressure to overcome the ponds pressure at depth then your pond will not fill all the way, regardless of the bottom material. It stems from Bernoulli’s principle, I would look into it to ensure that your pipe is set right for the pressure it provides.

Flair, if you want to put Catfish in your pond be careful because they will dig into your dam. That happened to my grandpa and he had to put chicken wire along his dam.

Put a fluval fx6 on it you need some filtration in there. That filters is around 3-400$ easy to set up will hold them in there for a long time

y'all need to establish biological filtration to handle that bio-load or else they will die of ammonia poisoning. Essentially run a system with a handful of minnows for a month or so and slowly increase the bio-load.

No joke used to run a 50,000 gal fish distribution center. If you want to keep the fish alive you need a bunch more water. At least 25% of the systems water needs to have no fish and needs to be getting clean. You could probably build 3 pools with fish and 1 with hydrilla/snails to use as a filter pool then pump the water between the pools to keep it clean. More than happy to give you some pointers on setting it up right if you want. Replay below and we can get in touch.

love the videos man!! get some barley extract and some blue pond tinter, the barley extract will clarify the water and the blue tint will help block uv rays. once your water is clear and blue get a dechlorinator to remove heavy metals and replace slime coats.

@flair why do you always go so shallow when you make your ponds!? Screw the 8feet deep spots, you Need to go way deeper man! 20+ feet! When the fish get to warm in the summer they’ll go into those deep pockets and in the winter they like the deeper water to stay warm. GO DEEPER!

The inside tank should be set like a fish tank. You need to let the water season b4 u put fish in. I recommend let water set for 24 hours. Then I like to put feeder goldfish in for 3-7 days. No chemicals needed. U can get rid of the goldfish or add to it. 1 last thing, u probably shocked the fish by temperature change. If u use a cooler again, u should add ur tank water gradually to the cooler then pour into tank... Probably 20-30 minutes of temp change. I worked in a big fish store & we lost very few fish & I went into homes to set up aquariums Just 1 of my jobs that I excelled in..LOL
