Honestly love your videos man. I'm 15 and have been obsessed with nature and bushcraft for a while. When I'm not on my own camps I'm watching your videos so that I can still learn. Thank you.

I built one of these and gave it to a local homeless guy, he’s done a few modifications himself and it looks amazing, he’s said he feels safe and warm and can actually have a comfortable sleep. So a big thank you for the idea. ❤️🇬🇧🙏

One thing I would suggest is getting a carbon monoxide detector just for safety.
@thomasolson7447
@thomasolson7447 17 дней назад
Don't think he needs to go that far. There was a big gap on one of the bottom sides. All the heavy gasses would escape there. Maybe if he were to insulate it and seal that gap.

I would recommend coraplast for walls and roof, reinforced with light framing. Someone else mentioned bicycle wheels, that is a great idea, and the larger makes it much easier to maneuver. Great video, I recently subscribed. Good job.

@teekrboo
@teekrboo 15 дней назад
Use marine plywood it's stronger and won't fall to pieces when wet. Make the handles longer and round and smooth ends. Tow it behind you like a horse. Make an attached harness from a surplus webbing set. Put wheels in middle on drop down legs, it would balance it and make easier to move like a caravan. And easier through deeper vegetation.
@DrSafely
@DrSafely 17 дней назад
If the wheels fold down closer to the center, say about 2/3 from the handles, it will feel lighter. sorry, I don’t have more suggestions. Great video!
@robmcgraw9897

Bicycle wheels would roll with less resistance. I have used them in the past for several projects and the thinner profile always does a good job. Just something to consider.

to reduce weight and be more weather-proof replace the sides and top with FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) panels.
@Wengier15
@Wengier15 17 дней назад
I'd worry if plastic walls would warp when close to the stove. Unless that's not an issue with FRP specifically?
@FreezyAbitKT7A
@FreezyAbitKT7A 16 дней назад
@@Wengier15 all surfaces are flammable. I find the in-tent stove need ridiculous .. My children and I have camped well below freezing. -25F is our record without a stove. The fake need by Bushcraft channels thinking they need to purchase a stove to Winter camp.. We have a term, sugarteet in the USA .

I'm not sure if that tarp was intended to be a part of the build proper or just for this video. Regardless, some anchor points for attaching a light tarp, perhaps on the drain pipe ridge or the tops of the side walls, would add a lot of versatility to the build for relatively little weight. There are the obvious benefits such as creating a small, covered, storage area outside; or some shade to sit in, outside, if you tie the other corners to a couple of trees. However, a more niche benefit is that, on a very sunny day, you could cover the perspex with said tarp and avoid the interior heating up in like a greenhouse. At the end of the day, I suspect there's probably enough space in the base to hide a few cheap tarps so it probably wouldn't impact the form factor too much and would hopefully be very useful. With the addition of a retractable pole or two, down in the base as well, you could even set up a freestanding awning rather than relying on trees. Anchor points are also useful for running ropes to dry socks, hang wet boots etc. All in all this is a very cool project and I look forward to finding out how it progresses.
@jamesemery1

you can make extremely light and strong panels by fibre glassing king span type insulation maybe consider that for cabin 2.0. you did a good job on the prototype

You can add some towel plug holder on the base and on top so it can add more extra safety when you do camp on windy days, the towel plug holder was used to add more rope to gave extra secure line on hold the structure tho. Just wild thinking so yeah, maybe you could try it 🤔

You could easily put some 100mm foam insulation in the framework underneath the floor as it hardly weighs anything and it would mean you loose a lot less heat through the floor. You could also move the uprights (that hold the end walls in place) closer to the corners so that you can have a wider door. I'll look forward to seeing the next version 😊👍👍👍👍👍

Instead of cutting an x in the stove jack material since the stove jacks are fairly standard in size, keep the right size jack with the stove and move the jack from tent to tent to cabin. Store the tent and cabin with blank uncut jacks.

I was thinking maybe you could make a foldable base, so it'd become half the size for transporting. Then you could also make the walls and the roof foldable (tho you'd have to have some sort of rain proof textile to cover the gap, attached with velcro or smtg). But then I thought you could just have the base, a frame and throw a tarp over lol

Aluminum would be weatherproof and lightweight 🤷🏻‍♂️ Bolted to a frame made of 2 by 4’s (what we call that dimensional lumber you used in the states 😂), but I’d recommend a yoke of sorts and pulling the “cabin” behind you. I’d also think it’s going to have to be a bit taller to walk over logs, rocks, etc. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's the point? If you're on your own land, you don't need to be stealthy. If you're on someone else's land. You've given yourself away by parking your car Suggest making either platforms with temporary roofs. Or roofs with temporary platforms if it s your own land. If you're travelling, build it on a bike trailer. I have a Halfor's trailer, actually found it abandoned but they're really cheap. Used it incessantly for years and declared indestructible

Since everyone else is offering lighter weight material choices I have some. Rigid pink foam insulation panels. Faced with a Harder wearing and weather proof skin like a plastic/pvc panel, alumin(i)um “skin” (see Ambition strikes YT camper truck build) or even painted polyurethaned marine grade ply, Coreg (trade name for corrugated plastic like political signs as someone mentioned. “Jeni Swiss” (YT) made a bike trailer out of it) Would probably only need it on the outside and line the inside with aluminum flashing tape for reflective heat, waterproof, and pretty protective of the foam if you’re careful. Jeez you don’t even need a hard outer surface for walls and roof, appropriate (not Melting) spray adhesive and tyvek house wrap over the rigid foam would work. Could easily get the whole thing under 21 3/8 kg (47.125lbs 😂) good luck can’t wait to see version 2.0 (2 0/2 for the imperialists)

For any future builds don’t use the awl as an awl just heat the awl with a blow torch and gently melt your way through it for any holes you need for fixtures (hinges etc) if you intend to use osb again consider covering the outside in heat shrink vinyl to weatherproof it all.
