Just to mention to those not in the UK that the British Isles are one of the most "under-treed" areas in Europe. Only around 10% is wooded, and much of that is pine plantations. There's very little woodland left. That might go someway to explaining the high costs involved in purchasing woodland. But, the very fact that woodland is so rare (relatively), means it is held very dear in the British psyche. Perhaps a yearning , nostalgia, or as the Welsh call it, hiraeth, for a time when the British Isles were almost entirely covered in trees.
I've had all kinds of American MRE's. I'm from a military family. I am absolutely in love with any of them that have shakes or smoothies. That's my favorite. But I can say, I honestly love every one I've ever had.
Amazing vid. One thing you could add is the importance of straight grain and grain orientation for haft/handle strength. Your ash is incredibly straight and aligned correctly as can be seen at 7:40 so should last for ages (with oiling).. Good workmanship all round, congratulations.
Nice video Mike & Gorge 👍👍. As here in Canada, wilderness camping is a different adventure. Dealing with Blk BEARS, Coyotes, Wolf's, Cougars & those pesky raccoons.
warantless police visit and needing a "certificate" for a double barreled shotgun on your own land. I cant imagine living in a country like that. I hope you can keep putting out amazing content despite such neighbors!
I clicked on this, hopingto see a rural riot. I know this is a camping channel, and I'm being selfish, hoping to see a bit of full contact among the leaves. I did learn a bit about camping equipment, so not all is lost. Still would have been fun to see a scrap, though.
I had a Tshirt long ago, printed on the front was: MAKE SOMEONE'S DAY. MIGHT YOUR OWN FVCKING BUSINESS! Still appropriate today, maybe more appropriate.
If I can suggest, to help keep the tent cleaner, after you unload the stove, use the box to store the cut firewood into it. Thanks for the video. Skillet
A lot of the mixes I've been looking at in structures I've seen in Utah.. when you look closely you can see burned pieced of wood in it. Very fine pieces.
Seeing that old Rover makes me think of that clip from Top Gear of Clarkson going "The most unreliable car in the world...is the most reliable car...IN THE WORLD" from the one where they drive across South America or something. I do love those classic looking Defenders though. I've just always loved those big boxy European car designs, especially like the late 80s/early 90s. The Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes W460, the old Volvos. Simultaneously classy and built like tanks.
That stove is really close to being big enough for a cabin. Actually would be more than enough for a one room hunting cabin. Kinda ridiculous but if you have a car right there why not
Police have the public well trained. If you see something say something. It allows police to interrogate the public at will, fishing for their next ticket. I wouldn’t surprise me that you’ll keep getting “called in”. Sooner or later you’ll get tired of it.
I am only 6 mins in and so far I really like this build. My only critique is that if you start with the siding at the bottom and work up you can hide the nails under the next piece. It also may be easier to build siding like this that way. Think of it how you would shingle a roof, bottom up.
In Canada, 30 years ago, I remember people driven around with rifles and shotguns in the back window of pick up truck... year round! By now, It's way more complicated than that, I am near 40 and I miss those days. I am treated like a criminal. People of the ''free'' world should be free, have right and not asking for permissions (permits, licence, wathever,...). Anyway, good video, as always!
And thank you for the Cornish accent demonstration- me and my bachelors degree I had to wait til I got to the US to achieve (history) appreciate it no end Sowsnek.
When I left Cornwall there were basically no deer, now my younger brother says he could virtually hunt deer the whole year with the various types. Here I New England/Northeast US we have the Whitetail deer and apparently there are more here now than before the Europeans arrived. Also with the Whitetail numbers and pressure on them in the west, the Puma is creeping back to the east coast.
You should make an extendable rack off the top of your vehicle. Some kind of steel frame, that could be setup on a roller rack style system, give it a few places it can lock and secure depending on how much space you need / want. Then get 2 legs for the far end to help support it. Drape some heavy duty canvas sheets, or tarps over it, anchor them to the ground, and you now have a nice little protected space.
I am looking at the tent and at that stove as you're unpacking it, and I'm thinking, "you are gonna be SO HOT tonight!" I hope you're not planning to sleep in a very warm sleeping bag. LOL!!
👍👌👏 Videos with Dad and dog are always good/better respectively worth watching. Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans, animals and plants).
Too bad its seems like just one person had a problem I live in a small mountian town in canada There is not even another town within 100 miles of my town that whole police thing would never happen here If I put up a cross and alter I could just say its a new town haha
What should that be??? Again a video with not much content. And if, it's mostly a kind of advertising. Oh, how I miss the good old days when tiny houses were built in a forest with Dad helping.
