It's been a hot week here in the north but the bugs have died down and I am getting to work on the cabin porch. I really enjoyed this hearty lunch of bear and vegetables from the greenhouse.

I have two comments. First, I love how Cali expanded her search, going in larger circles, until she eventually found the orange toy. Very smart dog! Secondly, I know nothing about the equipment used to video content, but, I am always amazed by the quality of the videos. The scenery of course is always spectacular, but what I really love are the sounds that are recorded. Whether it is the sounds of wild life, or the running water of streams, or the crackling of the fire. I feel like I am standing right there for all of this. Great job, as usual, Shawn!

Shawn has a blowtorch but still lights his fire with kindling. He has a mule/side-by-side and still uses a manual dolly. He has an entire greenhouse garden and still picks wild blackberries. If this isn’t the best outdoors channel on RU-vid, then your eyes are closed.

Congratulations on 25 years, and I hope you have another wonderful 25 years to come. The cabin is progressing nicely too. Part of living in a "cabin in the woods" is that the outside is also part of the cabin. This large porch adds a sheltered outside space. ;-)

Aluminum foil near the lights in the basement might make it brighter. a lot of the light gets absorbed by the blacking on the wood. don't need a lot but every little bit helps

Watching you maneuvering those heavy construction pieces makes me wish I could be there to give you a hand. Perhaps a selection of carpentry clamps could be a help to hold pieces in place as you fasten them? I enjoyed seeing Cali's circling technique as she looked for her toy in the long grass. It looks like she'll have a pleasant spot to cool out under the porch on hot or wet days. That skillet of meat and home-grown veggies looks delicious, and I'm curious about what it was you removed from the barley before straining it? Congratulations on your silver wedding anniversary.

Yes, there are many Sugar maples on the property. There is an episode earlier this year of him collecting sap and making syrup outside of the workshop -- which is nearby.

Too bad you didn't have a gas generator and run a router on the planks and make them tongue and groove. I know it's more work, but I think you would have been happy you did once it was done. I suppose you can still pull a board up this way if needed, but I don't see why you would ever need to.

I’m in my 4th year of ALS. Stuck to a wheelchair and a ventilator. I’ll probably die this next year. Every Friday morning I watch this video with a cup of tea. One of my most favorite things left in my life. If some miracle cure comes, I swear to Jesus I would be doing this exact same thing except with two dogs. Nevertheless, I can at least live vicariously through Shawn and Kali. Thank you sir for making my Friday’s.
