Newspaper is probably the very last thing I would imagine a guitar made of. And the results are incredible: it looks ridiculously cool and sounds absolutely amazing! Wonderful job!
How well do your guitars age? The colored pencil guitar, for example, is it still holding up? Do any of these unconventional materials ever come apart or show their age faster than conventional guitars? Does the epoxy yellow over time? How well do they hold their setups? Do you have to adjust the intonation more often?
By the way, this is my favorite of everything you've built so far. I love black and dark grey and having the historical articles show through is just an awesome idea. I wish I could buy this thing. It looks _so sharp._
You fully just reversed engineered the paper to wood. I looks amazing I also love the finish of the body and neck contrast. Having the other newspaper headlines as a background was a great choice, gives it a sort of old yet historic look. Great work!
Breathtakingly beautiful. I don't play an instrument, but your work is pure relaxation to watch. One can see your passion and craftsmanship. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the video.
I get frustrated sometimes because you don't put out a lot of videos, but every time you do, your work blows my mind. Incredible. Quality over quantity.
@@ROYALFG absolutely Some content creators put stuff out constantly, but the quality is rarely ever this high. Burls art is the standard to which I rate guitars. Aesthetically anyways. Obviously I would love to see more stuff, but not if the quality is poor.
Looks mesmerizing, especially the sides! The fretboard looks super cool with those parallel longitudinal lines, and the mat finishing keeps the smudging away. Keep it as it is, I'd say.
Loved the build and the finish. Beautiful piece of work but, my dude, I absolutely lost myself in the demo. I could listen to that for hours. Amazing work! Subbed 😁😁
Bro..... This has gotta be the coolest looking guitar you've ever made. The old school vintage look is has is IMMACULATE brother. That is so sick. Keep blessing people with your gift man!
@@Grimpmann Disagreeing with my own opinion is really rude. I say it is artistry and mastery and that is my opinion only. Not to be disagreed with and not to be shut down. Funny how positivity in this world gets you negativity.
The outside shot gives me the vibe of someone who's survived the apocalypse and tours around the wasteland, faithfully keeping the best of human culture alive. Amazing work
Truly a 1 of a kind guitar since I’m sure none of those articles will ever be printed again. And it came out beautifully as well! Fantastic as always!!
Love this and the aluminum guitar. Both have unique sounds and sound great. This one has a sweet lofi sound going on. Makes me wish the big manufacturers would make more interesting guitars, but I get having to sell a ton at scale.
@@danshakuimo most likely not. unless you give them a fortune like 10 grand or something stupid to make it. It would probably be cheaper to make it yourself.
Any perceived difference in sound comes purely from pickups and string selection. The material used to build the body of electric guitars has 0 effect on the sound it produces. You can even make it out of thin air and it would sound exactly the same.
I dont think the guitar material influences the sound in any profound way. Think about it. The signal has to go through the pickups, strings, cables, amp, microphone and your speakers. The chance that you would perceive any notable difference if he played a guitar made of a different material but everything else the same would be very small.
Probably the most enlightening twelve and a half minutes of guitar building I've witnessed since your last build. And the beautiful sound and chord progressions at the end gives the true reason for building guitars: moving the spirit to a higher plane. Thank you.
Micarta is supposed to be really tough so I'm not surprised it was hard to cut on the bandsaw. I love how all the sheets created this wood grain effect, that's a cool guitar right there and it sounds pretty nice too.
About 10 years ago I had this exact idea! The difference, you figured out how to make it work. At the time I hadn’t heard of the power of epoxy, this is fantastic. Great job
Love everything about this guitar...the idea, the look, the sound, the craftsmanship. There is genius in this, you should be recognized as a brilliant artist and craftsman.
@Burls Art I wanted to let you know, that any time you post new videos on your amazing guitars that you build, it makes my day so much brighter. You have brilliant skillets and ideas on guitar.. Just simply outstanding.
Really really phenomenal. With more and more woods becoming protected I wonder if alternate materials like this will become standard for mainstream guitar producers in the future.
This is amazing, was a newpaper dude for a bunch of my life and this is so cool. The way you encounter issues and solve them is super cool. Maybe in the future you can have a timer superimposed as your work proceeds, so we can have a sense at the countless hours you've spent on the project.
stellar looking instrument! One of my faourite builds of yours so far. Sounds is also immaculate - very transparent. In a way - it's cool how some trees were used for newspapers but got a second life in making up this beautiful instrument.
By far the dopest guitar I've ever seen in my life! Great job with this. The laminated newspaper looks very similar to black oak, I almost couldn't tell this difference had i not watched this. Keep up the amazing work.
I always look forward to seeing what unconventional material you will choose for your builds. This one looks amazing and sounds gorgeous. I guess you must have an uncanny skill for selecting the best tonepaper as opposed to any old newspaper!
lmao. We really need to put this idea that body materials affect tones to bed once and for all. I mean this guy (and basic electricianship) have disproven it beyond all doubt.
@@Molotov_Milkshake Exactly! You should check out Jim Lill's channel if you haven't already done so. In one video he constructs an 'air guitar' with no body and neck and the strings spanning thin air. With the pickup in the right position, it still sounds like his Telecaster.
@@NJT1000 hahha holy shit! I have to check that out! I don't know why so many guitarists can't just admit that they like certain guitar bodies because they LOOK COOL! There's no shame in it. I love my Strat and my SG because they look killer. The idea of 'tonewoods' is just dumb. Wood affects how you apply finishes, yeah. But tone? No chance. It's a persistent myth within the guitar community still...for some reason :\ I feel like it's just a gimmick of luthiers to upsell more expensive products/materials.
I reckon this is your most impressive build, really amazing to look at, along with all the work and detail you put into it. This is amazing content, thanks !
You should totally try this with something like rose petals or maybe the favorite flower of someone close to you. Maybe you could do one with Japanese cherry blossoms, or for the Canadians you could do one out of just maple leaves. This is so cool
Wonderful idea, wonderful result! What an amazing piece of musical art this turned out, fantastic grain effect on the edges of the body and the newspaper surface of the body looks so damned cool! Lovely sound and looks as thought it should be in an art gallery, absolutely love this and thanks so much for the video of the construction!
