Pure-pursuit assisted with a distance sensor maybe? Then calculate the velocity of the other enemy bot. Maybe even an UV sensor (i dont know much am 16)
I almost flew to Vegas for Proving Grounds this weekend with Bloodsport but decided to sit it out due to the expense. I have been working with the team on a lot of upgrades for months, including machining the minibot chassis, and I'm excited to see how they work! Hope to get to meet you someday at Battlebots filming!
HOLY SHIT! I absolutey love that you just went balls to the walls with this. Looking forward to seeing the newer iterations and I hope build a 30 pound version too. I reckon it would do great at NHRL.
seriously I am loving the proving grounds stuff because it feels like so many teams are being allowed to post so much more on youtube and really drum up hype, I think the producers really figured it out and this might be a new age for battlebots
Saw this design working at the lightweights in Denver, so happy to see it scaling up!! Straight to 250 sounds like quite a nightmare though, hope its Prooves well!
omg I love that this is happening! watching it spin at the end made me think, this could be an interesting variant on a thagomizer style if it was a rear mounted horizontal instead of a front mounted vertical
Just saw you guys in Vegas! You guys were great and my family and I are big fans! P.S. We need merch like I would totally buy stickers of this guy. Hope you do great tomorrow!
The drive system looking this good is probably already sending a lot of builder to CAD to brainstorm cool new ideas. Getting good bite requires closing speed, and being able to swing circularly so fast feels like a way to unlock quick hits with good bite - Glitch kind of did big hits like this by rotating in circles. Great inventive work!
I agree. Could work well with Tombstones "expose the back, then swing around" strategy. Also, it changes the pivot point to be way up front, which could be good for other long-and-narrow robots like Bronco...
Good luck against Disarray. Your bot looks very original and you might be onto something with the perpendicular wheels and un-flippable chassis, but Disarray has proven to hit very hard and be quite resilient, and that was a while ago. There's no doubt they upgraded the bot even further
Is the rear turning wheel just skidding along the ground? Might want to investigate finding or fabricating an Omni directional wheel for future versions, so you still get left and right, but it rolls forward and back too =D Looks great though, love seeing more unique robots
Get into battlebots Create a "team persona" like ripperonni but taco themed Create a tv drama rivalry between the teams with fun sketches etc... Last fight before 32 is against them.... ???... profit
Our entire front wheel situation was bad. The exact wheel diameter and location can be improved so we can lean over further and still have traction, but our biggest issue was low torque and frequently cutting out: our overheating speed controller kept going into low power mode and also would suddenly cut power due to my crappy PID control settings causing current to spike over the max current limit… …we’ve got a big list of things to improve and the front wheel is the main one.
