Here's how I made a new bed for our bedroom using pine 2x8's and some 19x98 mm pine boards. Finished with white and "patinagrey" stain. Crappy Sketch-Up file: www.dropbox.com/s/6jhax5aef9q...
Beautiful....I'm trying to copy the staining you did with Antique White and Weathered Grey... The white doesn't seem as thick as what you used though.. I see in a comment below you used "white chalk" stain.... I cannot seem to find that anywhere...just white chalk paint...any sources? Actually I can't find "Patina Grey" either... I'd like to duplicate what you did..
I think the brands are scandinavian/Nordic. Both waterbased. I checked the white one, and it's not technically a stain. It's a clear laquer with white pigment in it, so it has the same effect as a stain. Made by Jotun. The Grey one is an interior stain, made by Tyrilin. But I'm sure you can find some other brand and get the same effect. let dry between the coats.
I’m extremely confused about why 1200 people would dislike this. This is art at its absolute finest. I wish I could do this. I might take a course on this
The one of the most sturdiest looking bed I have seen. Your bed puts the ones in the furniture stores to shame. Yours is Beautifully made and I like the paint color you chose for the frame and behind the bed. Again, Great Job! 👍🏼🛏
I am digging the hudge box joints idea! Love how you pulled that off. I may have to try something like that the next time I do a bed. That was awesome! Looks super solid too. Great video! :)
Anybody with anything negative to say is maxed out with feces. This bed is a work of art. The fact that it’s overbuilt is what makes it awesome. With a few personalized mods, I’m using this as a template for one of my own. Home run on the finish choice as well...
Nice looking bed. Given the price of many of the bed frames that suit my taste, I think I'll have to build one. Not willing to pay $2400 for just the frame.
That's what i need for my kid and BF cause we keep buying Ikea beds and she says they squeak and drawers won't pull out right.. no matter how much we fix it ,so next place i am buying shelves put them all under & around bed as a frame she can put boxes in and it should be strong enough.. like platform.. i don't have this guy's talent but pretty handy for old woman :)
hm, i am three years too late :P anyway, i have the need to comment it. i love the simple construction and the beautiful finish. man, do i like it! i would love to copy the whole bedroom. nice one! thx for sharing!
Great build tutorial. Indeed on the heavy side, but nice. Keep in mind though when designing a bed that aside flex even more important will be ventilation. Rule number 1 in bed design: design the ability to evaporate nights moistre buil-up. The mattrass NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO BREATH properly day and night..
I love this bed. This is exactly what I was looking for months ago before giving up and buying something that is only okay in my personal opinion. The only thing I would have done differently is the finish. I like the gray, but already have a gray room, so a deep walnut would have been my stain of choice. But I love that it’s over engineered and would stand the test of time. The only thing missing are some matching night stands.
